S10 appropriate handling - copy of letter sent to lexus corporation from re to problems with her 2006 lexus is350. *kb the consumer stated the vehicle was making grinding sounds upon start-up. three days later, the consumer was informed the grinding sound was due to problems with the camshaft gear assembly. after leaving the dealership, the consumer smelled a faint burnt odor, but assumed the air filter might need to be replaced. after a while, the smell became worse and the consumer noticed smoke emitting from the exhaust and from underneath the hood. the check engine light illuminated stating the engine oil was low. the smoke instantly increased. the consumer immediately exited the freeway . the vehicle began making a grinding sounds as she pulled into a parking structure. the next day, a tow truck was sent to retrieve the vehicle. five days later, the consumer was informed that when the gasket was replaced during the replacement of the engine valve springs that were recalled, a part was left loose and caused the engine oil to leak. the consumer was assured that several flushes were done to make sure the vehicle was at a 100%. on november 25, 2010 while driving, the consumer heard the grinding sound again, then she noticed the temperature gauge jump from high to low in a matter of seconds, followed by the battery signal, indicating a low battery, but then quickly disappeared. as the consumer continued to drive, a rattling noise was coming from under the hood and the check engine light illuminated and the vehicle released smoke. the vehicle was towed to the dealer. four days later, the consumer was informed that the cap on the radiator fluid had broken off. the vehicle was taken to another dealership where they determined the engine was operating properly, but they discovered oil residue left on the engine that was causing the foul odor. they were unable to determine why the vehicle overheated. jb

I recently had my car serviced at lexus to complete the floor mat entrapment recall procedures. i would like to bring to your attention that the new replacement all weather floor mats that were provided to me are more dangerous than the original ones. the new floor mats are extremely slick and on more than one occasion my foot slipped off the mat and into one of the pedals. this is an extremely dangerous situation and i have removed the replacement mats from the vehicle as i do not feel safe using them.

In navigation add 5 destinations to your trip list. 2. while driving ( not in park ) press route, then delete. 3. display should have the first destination highlighted in white on the bottom , for example destination # 1 is yonkers ave. the other 4 above it are grayed out ( meaning they can not be selected. ) 4. you press the 1st destination, you are asked to confirm the deletion. yonkers ave 5. you say yes. the screen refreshes ? calculating route? appears above the question : ?confirm the deletion. yonkers ave 6. you are asked again, the exact same question, confirm deletion - listing the yonkers ave once more. you respond yes, again, ( do not hesitate to press the yes button , you have only 5 seconds or so ) 7 the screen refreshes 8.you are asked again, the exact same question, 9.confirm deletion - listing the yonkers ave once more. by answering yes, more than once to the repeated question, do you want to delete the first destination you are in fact deleting the remaining 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th, destinations -. i went for a test drive with salesman jeff and documented this and again the next day with angel. we drove a demo vehicle ? not my car ? and the problem was identical. please advise if i am eligible to have this serviced under warranty. map dvd data ver = 05.1 *tr

2006 lexus is 350 vibrated when applying brakes from highway speed, at 44k miles i took to the lexus dealership twice and they found nothing wrong, i finally took it to my private mechanic and it was determined the rear rotors were warped, rotors and pads were replaced with new oem parts and the problem was abated. at 56k miles it began vibrating again from the rear rotors, currently (59k miles) it is getting worse. this is clearly a design defect, i have never had an issue with rear rotors warping like this in 32 years of driving. *tr

STEERING

Had ssc 9lc (electric power steering link assembly replacement) performed and the steering feel has been adversely affected, where the on-center steering feel at freeway speeds is vague. furthermore, when turning the wheel on gradual turns, i feel a non-linear resistance moving from the on-center position to one side or the other. the sensation makes the steering feel disconnected with the wheels, where i'll turn the steering wheel an amount that i feel is appropriate to negotiate the gradual turn, yet the vehicle will continue to track on its original course. *tr

Brand new lexus is 350 had heavy dash board rattling complaint on the first week! vehicle was given to lexus and they held vehicle for few days and returned vehicle. complaint recurred second time after a month and vehicle was again sent to lexus. lexus held vehicle for over a week and gave back. complaint occurred third time and vehicle is still at lexus service station. heavy dash rattling noise distracts driver and diverts driver concentration. this could lead to serious road accidents ! this complaint has to be investigated to avoid future mishaps !!! *nm

I have michelin pilot sport a/s 225/40 zr dot number 4mcr 002x 4310 on my 2006 lexus is 350. i had the first set installed in april 2, 2009 at 24k miles as replacement to my original tires.by april 09 2011 i had to get the tires replace because of chunking, large chunks had come off at either side of the center line. i have the same tires in the back albeit slightly wider with no problems, feb. 09, 2011 at 47k miles the tires were replaced with the same brand and model for asthetic purposes and performance behavior on. at 57k miles march 2012 i noticed the tires exhibiting the same chunking. i went to costco were i purchased the tires and i was told that michelin says it is common and does not affect the performance of the tire, the chunks depth are over a 1/4 of an inch deep almost to the belt. this is an accident waiting to happen. *tr

Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6) i own a 2006 lexus is 350. i have had two incidents of unattended acceleration but was fortunate that both occurred on the freeway and i was able to get the vehicle to stop accelerating. my question is this; i received a notice from lexus, about six months ago, that there was a problem with the vehicle; however they were going to let me know when they had a fix for the problem. i've called several times, the last time was this week 3-9-10, and was told again that they do not have a fix and i need to wait and they would let me know when to bring the vehicle in. this seems dangerous, and i would like to complain that lexus is not doing enough to either get me a replacement vehicle to drive until they fix the car, or fix it.  Rear view mirror vibrates so badly on slightly rough roads, with sunroof and windows open and with manufacturer stereo loud that driver cannot see out of the back of the car. everything is distorted. this represents a significant safety issue for the driver. based on information gleaned from popular online forums, this appears to be a design issue associated with the 2006-7 lexus is25/350 lines. 2006 lexus is350 w/sport package. *jb
