Defect SummaryToyota is recalling certain model year 2010 lexus rx350 and rx450h vehicles, manufactured from november 28, 2008, through september 1, 2010. the accelerator pedal can get stuck in the wide open position due to its being trapped by an unsecured or incompatible driver's floor mat.
Consequence SummaryA stuck open accelerator pedal may result in very high vehicle speeds and make it difficult to stop the vehicle, which could cause a crash, serious injury or death.
Corrective SummaryLexus will notify owners of affected vehicles and dealers will modify or replace the accelerator pedal and replace any lexus driver's floor mat not specified for the vehicle. lexus will begin notifying owners in early august 2012. owners may contact lexus at 1-800-255-3987.

 Tl- the contact owns a 2010 lexus rx450 hybrid. the contact stated that the vehicle was taken to the dealer for repairs under nhtsa campaign id number: 12v305000 (vehicle speed control: accelerator pedal). the contact stated that the vehicle did not exhibit any acceleration failures prior to the recall repair. the contact stated that after the repair while parking, the vehicle suddenly accelerated without warning. the contact had to place the vehicle into neutral in order to stop the acceleration failure. the vehicle was taken to the dealer but had not been inspected. the vin was not available. the failure and the current mileages were 33,000. kmj
