Consequence SummaryLoss of headlights during vehicle operation can affect a driver's ability to navigate the roadway and reduce the visibility of the vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash.
Corrective SummaryDealers will install a headlight switch that incorporates a cricuit breaker of revised design and installation of a wiring harness connector and wiring, if needed.
NotesOwner notification is expected to begin april 15, 1998. owners who take their vehicles to an authorized dealer on an agreed upon service date and do not receive the free remedy within a reasonable time should contact ford at 1-800-392-3673.also contact the national highway traffic safety administration's auto safety hotline at 1-888-dash-2-dot (1-888-327-4236).

 Recall 98v009000, headlights malfunctioned while in use, causing visual difficulty and may result in a crash. dealer repairred the recall, but did not fix the problem. in cold weather the problem still occurs. please provide further information. *ak

 Consumer complained of dealer not honoring manufacturer's recall notice # 98-s-98, headlights, sent on may 8,1998. dealer been informing consumer of not having the parts. consumer would like to know how much longer must he wait until something could be done. *ak

 Head lights fail intermittently and problem persists even after repairs have been made.

 Vehicle experienced several engine problems, engine has been replaced 2 times, head gasket blew at 53419 miles and again at 68564 miles, check engine light illuminated, engine overheated, antifreeze was in tailpipe and oil in radiator, motor mounts broke 11/95 with 28005 miles. consumer stated it was noisy while turning steering wheel, dealer replaced tie rod end. air conditioner was inoperable due to manifold set and accumulater rusted through. tape player ate tapes. wipers would not park, dealer replaced wiper motor and wire harness. dealer replaced headlight switch and terminal. *slc
