Defect Summary | Vehicle description: passenger vehicles originally sold or currently registered in connecticut, delaware, district of columbia, illinois, indiana, iowa, kansas, kentucky, maine, maryland, massachusetts, michigan, minnesota, missouri, nebraska, new hampshire, new jersey, new york, ohio, pennsylvania, rhode island, vermont, virginia, west virgnia, and wisconsin. the rear lower subframe mount plate nut can experience stress corrosion cracking if subjected to long term exposure to road salts. this can result in fracture and loss of the structural integrity of the subframe mount attachment. detachment of the body mounts at the rear corners of the subframe, which supports the engine and transmission, allows the rear corners of the subframe to drop.
Consequence Summary | If both rear corners drop, steering would become suddenly very difficult, affecting vehicle control and increasing the risk of a crash.
Corrective Summary | Dealers will install subframe rear mount bolts, reinforcement plates, and plate nuts.

The door locks would not always automatically lock when the car was put into drive when i purchased it. i took it back in several times and had it checked but they could never repair the problem. now the doors will not lock at all unless it is done manually. the remote and keyless entry will not work either. the automatic leveling system makes an awful whirring noise now that the dealer says is normal. it wasn't normal when the car was new because it did not make that noise. *ak

Took vehicle in for recall #98s36 and was informed that right front and right rear motor mounts were defective and would require replacement at $341.00. i only have 87,000 miles on the vehicle and feel that is low mileage for a motor mount to fail. *ak |
