 Ref. confirmation #10100980 this incident happen at bud davis lincoln 2177 covington pike memphis tennessee 38128 (901)373-5700 i went to this dealership to purchase a key and door remote to be program. in the process my vehicle was return to me with a broken door handle, the dealership was liable for the damage broken door handle, but insisted that i pay to have the door handle repaired. my vehicle and i were held hostage until the service manager mr. goldsmith insisted that i pay for repair of a door handle that was broken while my vehicle was in the coustody and liability of the dealership. the handle that replaced the oem now has been modified and has gears in to prevent such problems. the handle is made of plastic and has stress cracks which prevent the driver/passengers door from opening/exiting the vehicle. i have the original handle that was removed from the vehicle by the dealership and would like the nhtsa to take a look at this. it appears that ford has something to hide and are charging consumers for modified oem defective door handles. your attention in this matter would be greatly appreciated. i filed complaints with the ford consumer complaints 1-800-line and did not receive a respond to this matter/incident. has ford/nhtsa issue any recalls concerning these incidents? if nhtsa would like me to ship the defective part please respond with instruction by email. thank you.

 Drivers door does not open from the inside. had it reaired (we thought) but quit working again within 4 weeks. will cost $ 700 to fix. *ak

 Drivers side door handle broke. in order to exit the vehicle, the driver must roll down the window and open the vehicle from the outside.*ak

 The driver side door handle will not allow the consumer to exit the vehicle. the dealer repaired the problem once, but six weeks later the problem recurred. also the rear right electric window fell inside of the door and will not roll up. the manufacturer is not aware of the problems. *ph

 The drivers door will not open from the inside and can only be opened from the outside. we have been quoted over $650 to repair this dangerous situation. the door handle is operated electronically.*ak

 Front driver side door could not be opened from the inside of the vehicle. exiting the vehicle required the owner to roll down the window, reach outside and lift the handle. *ak *nlm

 ~both lower ball joints have failed ~driver side interior door handle doesn't work ~driver side door control strap broke ~vehicle transmission misses gear going up inclines ~vehicle misfires and engine idles rough at times, dealer found nothing wrong ~replace back right side and front driver side window regulators after failures ~moonroof switch went bad ~lug nuts on vehicle strip easily, have to replace most of them ~shifts extremely rough from reverse to park ~engine idle sound terrible for a luxury car, ever after dealer tune up ~had to replace engine gaskets, coolant leaked into engine block contaminating the oil ~headlights fog over after any precipitation, very dangerous ~lower front bumper is separating from the upper bumper
