Defect SummaryFord is recalling certain model year 2013 lincoln mkt and town car vehicles manufactured from march 6, 2012, through april 3, 2012, equipped with the limousine or hearse preparation package. these vehicles may have been transported with rear brake rotor bolts that are not fully seated allowing the head to protrude above the wheel mounting surface.
Consequence SummaryThe raised bolt head could lead to torque loss in the wheel joint, potentially leading to wheel separation, increasing the risk of a crash.
Corrective SummaryAll the affected vehicles have been quarantined at the coach builder

 Tl- the contact owns a 2013 lincoln mkt. the contact stated that the battery drained completely and there was no access to the trunk. the contact stated that there was not a mechanical override to open the trunk. the vehicle was taken to several dealers and the contact was advised by each of them that there was no remedy for the failure because the vehicle was operating as designed. the dealer then referred him to the manufacturer. the manufacturer was contacted and referred him to page 79 of the owner's manual, which explained how to override the system. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure mileage was 900 and the current mileage was 13,000. kmj

 Tl- the contact owns a 2013 lincoln mkt. the contact stated that the battery drained and he had no access to the trunk as there was no mechanical override to open it. the vehicle was taken to several dealers was notified by each of them that there was no fix for the failure as it was operating as designed and referred him to the manufacturer. the manufacturer was notified and referred him to page 79 in the owners manual that explained how to override the system. outside of that they offered no assistance. the vehicle had not been repaired. the failure mileage was 900 and the current mileage was 13,000. dt
