This is a safety issue concerning a 1994 lincoln towncar with 122000 miles. the drivers seat left front seat bolt that holds the seat to the angle iron frame pulled out of or through the metal of the seat. the car has not been in an accident and the air bag has never been deployed so there has not been any wxtreme force on the seat other than driving. i weigh 200 lbs. and do not beleive that would be considered to be excessive. i sincerely believe that this should be addressed as a possible danger for driving and in the event of an accident the drivers and/or passengers seat could tear itself loose causing additional injuries.

This is the second failur on this part. the first occured in january 1999. the front locking bolts broke from metal fatigue the first time and the left front broke this time. i had a friend that had this same thing occur in 1999 and that did result juries. the dealership was sued at that time. this is clearly a poor design as the mettal fatigue is simular in both cases on my car. the dealership won't do anything on the repairs and suggested i contact the upholstry shop for repairs. i asked if they could give me a part number and they said no call the upholstery shop. they don't want anything to do with this broken seat.*ak

Drivers seat frame pulled loose from floor. the bolt assembly pulled through the frame. i was told the car was not under warrenty and had to replace the part (#f1vy-5463101-b). car seatrs aren't supposed to come loose from the floor. i'm glad i wasn't in an accident. does lincoln only cover failures if there is an injury? *ak
