I have a 1994 mazda b3000 with 75000 miles and after ten years the tank has developed a crack in an area that is protected from road debris and has no strees or flex . i beleive that this tank while it is ten years old is defective and should be replaced by the manufacturer. the result could be fire from the leaking fuel . the crack is not at a seam . the vehicle is not used in rough terrain causing stress. *jb
FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE - STORAGE - TANK ASSEMBLY - FILLER PIPE AND CAP

My 1994 mazda b3000 pickup (i.e. ford ranger) leaks gasoline when being filled at the filling station due to a faulty fuel tank filler neck. fuel spills on the ground of filling station (approx 1/2 gal) and is a fire hazard. cost to replace fuel filler neck is $280 from ford dealership, not including labor - this is prohibitively expensive for a rubber hose. many other ranger owners experience this same problem, thus indicating that there's a defect in the design/construction of the filler neck. *nm
