I was experiencing a shake in the steering wheel at high speeds, which we attributed to a tire/wheel/alignment issue. i made an appointment when the check engine light came on. the dealership told me i needed the timing chain (and assorted peripherals) replaced...for the second time in two years. the first time was covered by warranty, but only after i produced the records to show the oil had been changed regularly. the second time was not covered under warranty. it cost $1500 to replace the entire assembly that was less than two years old. the dealership has recommended ignoring the manual on oil changes (every 7500 miles) and changing it every 3000 to hopefully catch any further issues. they said because the turbo runs very hot, it burns up the oil quickly. my car was very low when i took it in. they also said the check engine light will not go on due to low oil, but only for low oil pressure. the other issue i had was related to the rear view mirror. i have the auto-dim with compass, which was installed by the dealer when i bought the car. it has failed twice and been replaced under warranty. the second time was around 65k miles. less than a month after my warranty ran out, the entire mirror fell off the windshield. in the early 2007 models, the clip that holds the mirror can not be replaced if it breaks. i had to have the entire windshield replaced in order to re-attach the mirror. i was told even though the mirror would have been covered since it had just been replaced, the windshield was not covered. that was another $250 to replace a perfectly good windshield just because the clip couldn't be fixed. i have seriously considered just trading this car in because i doubt very much it will be worth more than scrap value in a few more years.

We were driving home on christmas eve going about 65 mph when the cars engine just died. we lost all power to the car including the power steering. thankfully we were on a straight stretch and due to time of night there were not many other cars on the road. we were able to coast to the side of the road safely. the car was towed to a dealership where it was discovered the timing chain broke and damaged the engine in the process. after researching this online i discovered hundreds if not thousands of complaints about a broken timing chain that required replacement of the engine. some of these complaints were as early as 30,000 miles. there was even discussion about a recall on the timing chain from mazda saying that it was defective but mazda was not always honoring this recall. obviously based on these complaints there is a problem with the timing chain in the 2007 cx-7 that needs to be addressed. mazda is not doing anything about it and trying to get out of the mess they created. *tr

I bought my 2007 mazdacx7 in feb 2012.ive only had the car for 8 mths when the turbo went out also the pinston rings, first the driver side window came off the track could'nt let window down anymore, the the driverside door handle broke, called mazda they said the handle would cost 200.00 to replace, could'nt afford to fix it still broken, then in 10/20121 the turbo went out, called the dealer where i bought the car from and he told me to take the car to mazda dealership,so i did mazda mechanic told me that it would cost over 2500.00 to fix the turbo no counting what else is wrong with the car because the car started smoking soo bad before i left the mazda dealership the mechanic at mazda said it doesn't make sense to fix my truck because who i bougt the car from they sold me a lemon that i might as well buy another car,the mechanic told me to be careful not to drive my car because it's not safe to dridealer where i bought the car from and the manager gave me the run-a-r in another i would have went somewhere else, well for 3 weeks they gave me the cold shouler, nasty behaviors even hanging the phone up in my face, that hurts they sold me a recall car mazda said anyhting over 71000 miles the manufacture warranty doesn't cover well when i bought the car it only had 65000 miles so the dealer said and i checked the mileage upon buying the car,im still not undrstanding there's something missing from this puzzle, even the grill wasn't right on the car after i bought it the next day while driving the car the grill fell down.my car smokes sooo! bad it nusafe to drive and i have 2 granddaughters that need to go to school.im at my ends with that dealer.

Check engine light due to the egr valve = exhaust gas recirculation valve being stuck in the open position with 51k miles. the dealership replaced the valve (part number l3k9-20-300a) and the gasket (part number lf6t-20-305) for $882.63 being that it was not covered under my certified pre owned warranty or my extended warranty since it is part of the emissions package i paid, in full, out of pocket. i have checked several online forums and have seen this is a common occurrence for 2007 cx7 between 25k and 55k miles. i think this is a much larger problem than regular wear and tear requiring an investigation. *tr

Driving east across the bay bridge from sf, the engine made a wheezing noise. after a mile the power dropped, and the car would only travel at 30 mph. no engine light came on to warn of this, even during the event. at this point it was obvious that it needed repair attention, and we found a mazda dealer/repair shop relatively close by to drive it to. once they had a chance to diagnose the problem, they reported to us that engine 'sludge' was to blame. the timing chain had been rubbing, and the vvt actuator had been compromised. turbo galleys were also plugged. in jan. of this year, mazda posted an extended warranty for cx-7's timing chain and vvt. however, the dealer informed us after checking with mazda that we were not eligible for the warranty. gaps in our history of repair was the given reason. after an appeal, the rep from mazda said the highest authority had reviewed the claim and again declined to help. we have read numerous complaints from other cx-7 owners with the same problem. many of them have also been denied the use the warranty that mazda has extended.this is a vast and scary problem with this vehicle. *tr

While driving the car the ac compressor made a noise and ceased to work. i noticed a strange smell coming from the car followed by smoke coming from the engine compartment. i pulled over and opened up the hood to find smoke pouring off of the ac compressor and a large amount of sparks shooting off of it. this indecent occurred 4 months after the extended warranty on the ac compressor ran out. i'm not sure why this isn't an issue that is subject to a recall, as there was a very real danger of a fire breaking out. *tr

On 7/11/12 my wife was driving on the entrance ramp to the fl. turnpike when her mazda cx7, 07 engine turned off completely without warning. she was on a one lane road with a blind sided curve when this happened. a 18 wheeler truck was coming up behind her and almost rear ended her vehicle. fortunately the driver of the truck was able to stop before hitting my wife car. after a investigation of the engine problem i found out that it was a bad timing chain that caused the vehicle to shut off the way it did. i called the mazda manufacture and they told me that they were aware of the timing chain problem and that's why they sent out letters for an extended warranty on the timing chain problem. the also stated that the only way they would replace the part is if i could show records of every oil change that was done on the car from the time of purchase. being that i purchased the vehicle used i am not able to show all the oil change records they request. the point is that the manufacture recognized that there is a problem with the timing chain. they should be doing a immediate recall on the car to fix the problem before somebody gets seriously injured or killed..if you can i ask you to please help with this matter.. *tr

The vehicle suddenly stopped running while traveling at 65 mph on interstate 95. the vehicle was safely moved to the side of the road where it was then towed to the dealer where it was purchased. the service representative indicated that the engine would have to be opened at a cost of $500 to determine the cause of the problem. they suspected that the timing chain had broken. after consulting with mazda customer service, i was advised to have the vehicle towed to a mazda dealer. the vehicle was towed to thompson mazda in baltimore, maryland where it was confirmed that the timing chain had broken and that the engine would have to be replaced. mazda had provide an extended warranty on the timing chain for 7 years or 70,000 miles. the warranty indicated that if there was a timing chain noise to bring into a mazda dealer to have it serviced under the warranty. at no time was there a noise experienced from the engine. mazda also indicated that the vehicle had to have service records to be covered. since the vehicle was purchased used in april 2011 we only had our service records and the car fax service records. mazda indicated that because there was a gap in the service records, between 31000 miles (the last record shown by car fax) and 54000 miles (when we had purchased the vehicle), they would not cover the cost of replacing the engine. it is my belief that mazda knew there was a defect in the timing chain and had they been proactive in recalling the vehicle and replacing the timing chain the engine would not have had to be replaced at a more significant cost of $7,200. *tr

Felt slight jolt, and immediately less power, then engine just stopped. my opinion is that the timing chain first jumped a tooth, then failed altogether. i was able to coast safely off to the shoulder, where i called for a tow. car was flatbedded back to the dealer at my request, as they have done all work on the car since day 1. dealer stated several days later that engine had no compression in two of the four cylinders, and a remanufactured engine would be required at a cost of $6400.00. later, having researched this, it is a common problem and seriously premature for this mileage and for a car driven moderately and on which all recommended maintenance has been performed (by this dealer). i stated mazda should stand behind this and contribute all or part of the repair bill. several days later, dealer states mazda refused. *tr

My husband was driving the vehicle down a backroad highway going 60 when all of a sudden the car stopped. there was no notice, no noise nothing. the pos was towed to the local mazda dealership. the looked at the vehicle and said timing chain..$3000. ok, not what we expected but fine, fix it. 24 hours later, they called to advise that the engine is blown $7000. i contact the mazda customer service ( aka people who are trained to tell you that you are sol) to see if there was any recall or any other things that may cover this. no, nothing but a extension was mailed jan 2012 to advise that the timing chain was extended for repair. no notice was received and the address they had on file was correct. so here we sit with a worthless pos that nobody wants to take responsibility for. i would rather have it sit in the drive way and we share 1 vehicle than put 7000 into this car. i see that we are not the only people that have been taken advantage of by mazda. has anyone called recently into customer service to hear the list of recall notices? it take 8 mins for the automated system to list them all. this company needs to take responsibility for it's worthless machines! if a class action lawsuit ever comes out, i will join in a heartbeat. can the nhtsa please look into this? i know that we are not the only people ... no time in life should an engine need to be repaired with only 76k on it!!! *tr

While driving home from work 8/23/12, my husband noticed that the a/c was not cooling and that the engine started making a squealing noise. he stated that the a/c compressor was failing. fortunately for us, he made it home safely. if it failed completely while driving, the car (or he) could have died in the middle of the interstate.we had received the extended warranty notice for the a/c compressor. so, we took it to our local mazda dealership/service department for repair. the technician stated that we had just exceeded our warranty coverage. our vehicle turned 5 years old on 6/30/12 and has 60,598 miles. he stated that we would have to contact the mazda corporate office to request assistance. the corporate representative stated that they would contact our dealership and take the matter under review. she stated that if they denied the claim there was no one else at mazda that would discuss this with us. i agree with other complaints filed to date...apparently, someone will have to be killed before anyone issues a recall. *tr

I drove 200 miles stopped the car to get something to eat, when i restarted it a loud whistling noise came from engine and wouldn't stop. called roadside assistance and it was towed 2 days later because it happened on a saturday night. it took 3days for it to be fixed and i'm not sure it is running properly. i also had the timing chain replaced at 60,000 miles. i will never buy another mazda. *tr

While driving with my ac (air conditioning) on, it suddenly started blowing warm air. the car filled up with a burnt tire like smell and i quickly turned the air conditioning off. after giving it a few minutes and parking my car on a shoulder lane, i turned the air conditioning back on to see if it's going to start working again (while the car was still running). my ac was still blowing warm air but now there was a loud noise what appeared to be coming from the engine along with the burnt tire like smell. i decided to return home and have my husband take a look at it before i contact the dealership service to fix it. as my husband open the hood of the cx7 and i turned on the ac there appeared to be alot of sparks coming from the ac air compressor, right beside the engine. this looks as if it can potentionally set on fire. mazda did send out a warrenty extension letter (ssp 81) back in 2010 for this very same issue. this warranty extension was covering vehicles up to 5 years/60000 miles. *tr

I called a mazda car dealership to let the know i receive a recall letter and to make an appointment for my mazda cx7, the service man said if the car was not making any noise or smoking i didn't need to bring the car in. after weeks by after taking the service man advise i was driving on the highway in my cx7 mazda with my 6 month old grandbaby in the back seat all of a sudden pressing on the gas, the car just shuts off without any kind of warning in the middle of the highway; this highway is normally very busy especially with 18 wheelers, luckily there was enough power left for me to pull over out the highway before the steering wheel locked up. after waiting for tow truck driver in the heat with no ac and a 6 month old baby car was towed to a mazda dealership, which was closed. the next day serviceman calls me and tells me the timing chain broke, destroyed the engine and it was going to cost $4000 to be repaired,i had to bring receipts for oil changes, there was no sludge found; mazda offered $1000 as a good gesture, if they had found sludge they wouldn't have offered that. my car is still there; i can't get the car out because i have to make car payments and rent cars to get back and forth to work. what is it going to take before someone steps up and have mazda corp held accountable for these malfunction parts. will someone have to loose their life before someone recognizes that there is a major problem!!!! there are to many complaints on line for the same reason for this not to be an issue!!!!!! i've been in contact with lawyers and the media i feel the public needs to know how this corporation is treating the consumers. *tr

Vtt timing chain broke on this vehicle which could have resulted in a horrific accident if the car had been mobile. mazda has acknowledged that this engine component is faulty, because they issued a warranty extension to 72,000 miles in january 2012. this sort of engine failure could lead, and may have already lead to numerous accidents if they vehicle stalls while on the interstate or other roadways. mazda should recall the engine part and reimburse customers who have had to pay for this mechanical failure.

On may 18th i took my car to the mazda dealer in nj for a timing belt recall and was replaced. on may 28th driving on the highway the a/c stopped working, the warning lights came on and immediately the car stalled. i then had it towed to the same mazda dealer. the next day they told me that my engine was blown and it was going to cost me $7,476.79.i have always serviced my car every 3,000 miles, my car is only 6 years old and only has 57,040 miles. i took it to an engine expert and told me that the engine was defective. mazda should recall all cx7s from 2007. it is obvious that all of them came out with a defect.

My 2007 cx-7 started making a loud banging noise when i started it (may 7,2012). i brought it to the dealership to have it checked out and they said it was my timing chain & actuator (vvt) and it would take $1350 to repair. i paid the money and it was fixed in a couple of days. on june 7th,2012 i started to realize that my ac was not working, but had decided to wait a little bit to have it fixed because i was still hurting financially from the last fix a month ago. than on june 9th, 2012, i went to start my vehicle and it sounded like it was about to explode. i live in the country and the closest dealership is at least 50 miles away. so i brought it to my local repair shop and they told me my turbo is blown. the mazda dealership wants $80 to diagnose it and $5000 to fix it (that doesn't include my towing fees and the cost of fixing the ac). i've read all of the complaints online and everyone is saying sludge build up and mazda wants the receipts for all of their oil changes. i have all my receipts for the synthetic oil changes that i have had done to the vehicle on time (not to mention only filling the car with premium gas). unfortunatly, my car is up to 100,000 miles and they only extended the warrenty to what...70k? so basically i have a car that i paid $16k for and is completely useless to me only after 100k miles. from what i've researched vvt's are not supposed to go out until what 250k-300k miles? and it seems a bit ridiculous for the turbo to go out after 100k miles....

The air conditioner compressor went out. the vehical began to have acceleration issues and started smoking like burt rubber. mazda has extended the waranty to 60,000 miles but refuses to replace the compressor beyond that mileage.

While driving on the freeway at about 70 mph, my 2007 mazda cx7 randomly lost power. i was able to pull to the side of the freeway eventhough the steering wheel became very hard to turn. i was very lucky there were not many cars around me. the motor would only rev when i pushed the gas pedal. i had the car towed to a mechanic. the next day i was told that my motor and turbo needed to be replaced. the repairs would total to about $8,000. i already owe $15,000 on the auto loan. i only had the car for one year, the motor went bad at 60, 000 miles?. i'm a fulltime student and a mom, my husband makes less than $30k a year. we cannot afford the repairs at this time. as a result, the car is sitting on our driveway.

While driving our cx-7 stopped running right in the middle of the road, we have found out that is a known issue with mazda cx-7 vvt pin/timing chain breaking. we were able to get the car stopped, but it was in the middle of the rode and was a hazard not only to our car, but other cars coming up behind us. we were unable to move the car and had to wait for a tow truck. of course, mazda won't do anything to remedy the situation because the warranty has passed...even though they knew the problem existed in 2009. someone will get killed one day.

Vvt and timing chain replacement needed mazda knew these to be defective parts but only issued warning to me just this month and now that im over the mileage i have to pay for cost of replacing both ... why hasn't the safety board looked into this very dangerous issue that will eventually cause someone to lose their lives ..... this most be addressed now!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Purchased 2007 mazda cx-7 with 65,000 miles. at the time was told it had a new turbo. had the vehicle 2 months and the erg valve died (technician stated they should last 100k miles) was replaced at my cost of $850. when replacing the erg valve they also noticed a worn tube that will cost an additional $180 at my cost. they also noticed the new turbo was smoking and this was an extended warranty coverage from mazda to 70k miles (i was at 68,5000). they are adding a whole new pcv vent kit at dealer expense). now i am hearing a loud ticking noise whenever i turn on the a/c which could be either the vvt timing chain or the air conditioning system. both are known defects of 2007 cx-7's and will cost about $1,000 to fix for each issue. the timing chain is covered until 70k miles so i'm trying to get this fixed by the dealership now before i run out of warranty. however, the ac issues were only covered to 60 k miles and i am beyond that coverage so i will have to fix that at my cost. if you do a quick google search you will see extensive documentation of these same issues amongst many mazda owners. mazda refuses to recall such parts and only this year (4-5 years later) did they extend warranty coverage on some known defects knowing that most people would be beyond the warranty limit of 60/70k miles. there are many reports of engines seizing due to the ac and timing chain issue. i am quite frankly terrified to drive this car and seeking a very comprehensive extended warranty to hold me over until i can trade it in and get something reliable! i work for a car dealership so i know that these issues are legitimate with this vehicle.

In november of 2012 my family was driving home from seattle, wa to san diego, ca. when we were driving we smelled burning rubber so pulled over to see if we could see something wrong under the hood. since it was 10pm and dark outside we couldn't see anything and decided to find the nearest hotel to stay at until we could take it to a shop. after we started driving we saw there was a freeway exit 1/2 a mile away so my husband was driving really slow(about 35mph) hoping we could make it without any problems when all of a sudden there was a huge jerking motion that felt like we ran into something even though we didn't. we stopped immediately and got a tow truck. it ended up being the ac compressor and serpentine belt that needed replaced, although mazda was aware of this problem as they stated in their extended warranty that it had defect in workmanship or materials, the warranty was only extended to 5 years or 60,000 miles. my mazda was 6 years old and had only 48,000 miles but wasn't covered because it was a year passed the warranty even though the miles were still under. we ended up paying $2,000.00 to fix it as well as another $300.00 to stay in a motel for 5 days. ever since the day that the car broke and had the huge jerking movement, by back has hurt everyday since then. it especially didn't help that i was almost 5 months pregnant and although nothing happened to the baby, i'm hoping there was no permanent damage to my back since i've never had back pain or problems since before this incident. i didn't know who else to contact about this but i think this is a huge problem and mazda needs to fix it before more people get hurt, especially because they already know this is a problem which is why the extended their warranty. *tr

I started the car, like i regularly do and the engine/timing chain made a horrible sound that got me very worried since this car is taking care very good since its the only car in the household. i contacted mazda and they said the car had a warranty extension for a l3t engine variable valve timing noise and timing chain noise which is cause by actual failure due to defects in workmanship or materials in accordance with mazda warranty policy and procedures. this warranty extension was for 70,000miles or 7 seven years which ever came first, so my car was not cover since it had 101,000. my concern and disappointment is that after searching and taking to other cx-7 owners the (2007-08) models all had issues with this and mazda did not made a recall just extended the warranty. cars with mileage of as low as 24,000 were affected by it, so its clearly not a wear and tear issue of the car. if that is not replace the engine might be damage and mazda will not even offer a goodwill assistance. i still make monthly payments on the car and its impossible for me to pay $1200 in something that is clearly stated by mazda is a defect in workmanship or materials. its a shame that so many other customers are still battling with this issue and mazda just hides behind their power and attorneys. *tr

I wanted to report a safety issue with the 2007 mazda cx-7. there is a known problem with the ac compressor and instead of doing a recall on the product they extended the warranty to 5 years or 60,000 miles (instead of 32,000 miles). i bought my car right around the time they sent these letters out, so was unaware of what was going on. recently i was driving the mazda and i smelled smoke. i saw some smoke coming from under the hood, and when i pulled over and opened the hood the ac compressor was on fire. had i not been pulling into work and on the highway i would?ve been in worse shape. it was scary considering it was next to the engine which has oil, fuel, etc...going through it. there were no warning signs that there was a problem with the ac compressor until all of a sudden it caught on fire. i have made attempts to call mazda and try to get some help on this issue, and they seem to not care at all. i wanted to report this in hopes some other owners of the vehicle could be aware and not expect any help from mazda's end. it is a safety issue and it needs to be addressed/recalled. *tr

My 2007 cx-7 experienced a catastrophic failure of the a/c compressor resulting in smoke in the cabin. after parking to allow the car to clear it would not re-start and i had to be towed to the local dealer. this occurred late on a friday afternoon and so they were closed until the following monday. the potential failure was known and mazda had issued a letter extending the warranty on this item but not a full recall. the dealer installed new parts but since then it has been back several times because of lack of performance. i have received explanations of too much/too little refrigerant block dlines with particles from the original failure. after the third return visit in june 2012 the problem appeared to be fixed and the system worked until last week so i scheduled another visit. the problem has now being diagnosed as a failed hose fitting and they are expecting me to pay for the part but not the labor. my view is that parts like this should not fail at the current 41,000 miles and that some of this is related to the previous fixes. also co-incidentally the check engine light came on as i was scheduling a dealer appointment. this has gone on and off several times over the last month. it has been diagnosed as a failed egr valve and will cost $700 to replace. again this is not something that i would expect to need at such a low mileage and on a car that has all routine serving and has been babied. this prompted me to go on-line to research and there appears to be lots of similar issues with this model of mazda and yet they are not performing recalls. i am hoping that my experience will add to the case to pressurize mazda to be more customer orientated with their cx-7 owners and/or to support a class action suit to help recompense owners against these non routine mechanical failure issues. *tr

While driving the vehical started to make noise took it to first mechanic shop near bye and they told use the ac compressor was failing but it would be ok then on the way back home the car started to smoke from the compressor because the clutch had seized up we pulled over otherwise im sure we would have broken the belt causeing more damage.

*tr

I was driving on my way home on the highway and all of a sudden the ac was not cold. when we got home the belt was smoking from under the hood. we recently bought the car from a gmc dealership at just under 39k miles. only owned the car for maybe 4 months. turns out the car needed a whole new compressor for over $800. the compressor had locked up. i find this very crazy that a car with such little mileage would have such a big problem. the car has been well taken care of. reading up online i have noticed the 2007 models have had ac compressor issues. *tr

After owning our 2007 mazda cx-7 for over 5 years, we received an extended warranty notice that the timing chain was defective and at risk of breaking. having noticed a slight ticking noise already, we immediately took it to the dealership where it was purchased. they examined it and notified us that even though our car was 5 years old and at risk of failure due to a factory defective part, the warranty was only extended to 70,000 miles and mazda would not cover any costs since our odometer was at 80,000. i went home, did some online research, and discovered that our year and make of vehicle also had a tsb from mazda for a defective timing vvt actuator that could cause the same clicking sound. we had never been notified of this by mazda or the dealership. i called mazda customer care immediately and they assured me that the timing chain was the source of the clicking noise. two weeks later the vvt actuator in question did fail. mazda assumed liability and replaced the defective vvt assembly and timing chain, but refuse to cover any of the costs to repair the severe damage caused to our engine as the direct result of this part failure.

We have a mazda cx7, 2007, that we purchased brand new in april 2007. we have had all oil, filter and other services by our local mazda dealership in accordance to mazda guidelines. recently while driving 70 mph down interstate 81 with our 10 year old son in the car, our mazda stopped working. lucky for us we were able to get off of the road and call a tow truck, who took us to a local mazda dealership where we had to leave the car until monday (it was a saturday afternoon) and find other means of transportation home (70 miles away) on monday morning my husband received a call from mazda stating that our vvt plug came apart causing the engine to jump time and that we could pay to have a vva kit ordered and installed to see if it would fix the problem, at a cost of $1300, but this may not fix the problem because due to the plug coming apart our engine lost compression. and if this was the case, we would be out the $1300 and it would cost an additional $7950 for them to replace the engine. when we questioned them about the service bulletin released re: the problems they were having with this vvt they said that they really couldn't help us with this.... our car was over in the mileage... well to me a problem they recognize and admit to they should take care of no matter what.. had we have know of this pending problem, we would have opted to have this kit replaced long ago and gladly paid the $1300 instead of being out a car, that we really have enjoyed, and now looking for someone to replace an engine!! oh and by the way.. dont let mazda do this for you!! it is much cheaper to have your engine rebuilt and replaced by an outside source. we have contacted a machine shop in virginia who will pay shipping and do this for us for $3000 and we have a local mechanic that will do the work for $1000 oh and they give you a 5 year warranty!! mazda needs to be responsible

Tl* the contact owns a 2007 mazda cx7. the contact started the ignition and a loud clunking noise emitted from the engine. the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, who stated that the faulty variable valve timing would need to be replaced. the manufacturer mailed a notification, which indicated that the replacement of the variable valve timing would be free of charge; however the vehicle was ineligible because it exceeded the 70,000 mileage requirement. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 85,000.

I was heading west out of denver on interstate 70 when my car completely failed and the engine shut off. i was in the left (passing) lane and was fortunately able to pull into the median to avoid a crash at high speeds. my four-month old son was in the back seat so i was shaken and frightened for his safety, and unable to re-start the vehicle. we were stranded there for an hour waiting for a tow-truck with other cars pushing past us at very high speeds. to add insult to injury, this is a known issue for this make and model of mazda. the company does not stand behind their vehicles--instead they are discontinuing the cx-7 b/c of it's poor engineering. they also offered an extended warranty for this issue (up to 70,000 miles so my car is not covered.) if they were a responsible company they should issue a total recall of this vehicle in order to replace the timing chains. other problems with this car in the short time i had it (bought it at 53,000 and it has a dead engine at only 76,000) -mysterious electrical problems causing all gauges to go haywire when i accelerated or turned -leaking valves in the transmission (just paid $800 to have that repaired in october) -faulty air conditioning compressor (also extended warranty) basically, this car is a total lemon. if you have one that still runs--beware! if i had been 2 miles farther down the freeway i would have had no where to pull over and would have been stalled dead on the freeway in heavy traffic... with young son in the back seat.

I own a 2007 mazda cx-7, which i purchased in nov. 2006, brand new. over the past 2 years, i have heard a tapping noise coming from the engine compartment of the vehicle. twice in the pass 9 months, the vehicle lost complete power. i asked mazda to check the vehicle and they stated that it was common, nothing to worry about. in january of 2012, i received a safety notice from mazda in regards to a possible defect part, v.v.t. component and a loose timing chain. i took my vehicle to the mazda dealership, who advised me that my vehicle contained this defective part, but stated that they were not going to repair the defective component due to the lack of receipts for oil changes and other maintenance records. the reason for the lack of receipts is because my brother-in-law, who is a mechanic, performed the oil changes and other maintenance work to the vehicle. i asked mazda if the defective part could be hazardous and they advised me it was not harzardous or dangerous. approx. 3 weeks ago, my wife ordered the necessary parts and paid for them in full. after 3 weeks, i was advised that the parts or not available. after reading numerous websites and complaints from cx-7 owners, this is happening across the country. i further read that if the v.v.t. component fails while the vehicle is being operated, the engine will immediately cease, possibly causing the operator the inability to safely manveur the vehicle off the roadway. in my opinion, this is a danger to the occupants of the mazda cx-7 and other motorists. i have not heard of any accidents being reported as a result of the defective part, but i feel that mazda is not taking the necessary measures to ensure the safety of the motorists. i feel that the matter should be taken care of by mazda before someone is seriously hurt or killed.

Vehicle has a defective variable valve timing actuator (as per the manufacture's campaign letter) that causes a noise at start up and a loose timing chain. that first phase of the failure has already occurred. the next stage of the failure which hasn't happened to me yet (but has been documented by others) is that the vvt actuator eventually becomes dislodged from its pin and as a result, the timing chain breaks, causing the engine to seize instantly, causing an emergency response from the driver to attempt to get out of the flow of traffic, without warning, within seconds of the failure. the vehicle is driven on the nj turnpike, rt. 295, rt 195, etc in central nj and when the failure as described above occurs when traveling at highway speeds on busy roadways, there is a high probablility of an accident occuring at the time of the failure, or as the car sits disabled on the edge of a roadway awaiting roadside assistance. the danger is not only for the occupants of the cx-7, but also for those directly behind the vehicle at the point of the vvt failing and/or the timing chain breaking. i have requested that the vehicle be repaird for over 90 days, however mazda usa continues to inform me that the parts are not available and that there no identified date of when they will be in stock. that means that they are allowing me and my family to drive a vehicle equiped with a defective original equipment part, that when it fails, may cause harm to me, my family and others. they are not considering this a matter of safety, and instead only a matter of inconvenience in that because my vehicle is now over their self determined 70,000k mileage threshold, they are not offering to fix the car. instead, they are telling me that i can pay to have it fixed. they should be warning their customers of the dangerous condition being created by their faulty components.

Mazda sent information regarding an extended warranty for the vvt actuator/timing chain for 70,000 miles or 7 years of age. i took my vehicle in for service, literally days after receiving this mailing, and was informed that i needed this repaired on my vehicle. my car was around 15,000 miles over the limit but within the 7 year time frame. after calling the customer service line, mazda insisted there was nothing they could do since i was over the mileage cap. this is obviously a defect no matter how many miles are on the vehicle. to repair the problem, i will have to pay over $1,500. why did it take so long to do something about this? a reputable company would fix this defect on all vehicles affected.

I have only owned my mazda cx-7 for 6 months before the turbo went on my car. the engine lost power. the mazda dealer reported sludge build up and as a result the turbo failed. no one will cover the work as i lack appropriate maintenance records on the car (since i've only owned it long enough to make 5 mapyments).

The timing chain in this vehicle broke while under power. we recently received a voluntary warranty extension notice (mazda calls it a special service program) that indicated there may be a problem with the engine in the vehicle, specifically elements related to the timing chain and variable valve timing. our car always rattled at startup from the day we bought it, that was our normal experience and expectation for what the car was supposed to sound like. we never knew this was a problem until a couple of weeks ago, and come to find out, our car had passed the extended coverage period provided by mazda anyway. it is and will be our contention that there is a serious design flaw in the motor of this vehicle. while our experience is that the car failed at 83k miles, many have failed sooner, and other mazda products using the same motor are affected (l3t engine, also in the speed 6 and the speed 3) it should be noted that the service interval for the timing chain had not been reached. mazda published a tsb on this problem in 2009 or thereabouts, but never contacted it's customers directly to indicate that service may be required. it is time for the ntsb to get a recall notice issued and put this issue to bed once and for all, before someone gets killed.

Our 2007 mazda cx7 suddenly lost power and i was forced to stop the vehicle in the center median of the highway, as i was unable to move to the right due to other traffic. vehicle was towed back to the dealership where problem was diagnosed as a broken pin on the variable valve time actuator (vvt). there was no prior indication of a problem with the vehicle (no warning lights) prior to the engine stopping. dealership has indicated that complete engine replacement is recommended by mazda. currently the vehicle is awaiting arrival of an adjuster from extended warranty company to see if repairs/replacement will be covered. additional online research has indicated that this is a well-document and frequently occurring problem with this make/model of vehicle, yet manufacturer has neglected to initiate a full recall. rather they issued a service bulletin (#01-002/08) that addresses a vvt noise when starting engine. bulletin states some vehicles may exhibit a loud ticking noise from the variable valve timing. (vvt) this is caused by the lock pin of the variable valve timing actuator not fully engaging. heat treatment has now been added around the hole of the variable valve timing rotor lock to prevent this from happening. it is believed that had my vehicle exhibited any symptoms, i could have had the service bulletin repairs made, and the engine failure due to the broken pin would have most likely been avoided. this should have been a recall, and not addressed by a service bulletin. there is strong evidence, as discovered via the internet, that multiple cx7 vehicles have had this exact same type of failure where the vehicle has suddenly stopped running while being driven at highway speeds. this constititues an extreme safety hazard that could possibly result in serious personal injury or death.

Complete engine failure at 75,287 miles. entire engine is burned up, oil changed regularly, no oil leaks, turbo sensor replaced in april 2011 by dealer under extended warranty, engine not covered under warranty in december 2011, cited lack of maintenance even with receipts of oil changes. after researching issue, this is a common problem in mazda cx7's, and engine failure has been reported in over 2000 cases. not only is the condition dangerous, as the vehicle just stops running without appropriate warning lights, modern cars do not usually need a new engine at lower mileage. mazda has sent no notices or letters stating this is a common problem on this model, and has not recommended using synthetic oil or more frequent oil changes.

Dealership maintained cx-7 experienced major failure while driving. engine died and major oil leak was noticed. car had to be towed to the dealership. the dealership first indicated that there was some type of failure regarding the #3 cylinder. dealership said that the probable cause of failure was due to turbo overheating. later the dealership stated that the #4 piston failed and caused catastrophic damage to the engine. the cause of failure was never determined. the engine, turbocharger, thermostat, egr valve, intake manifold, starter and o2 sensor were replaced. total cost of repairs (labor, parts, and misc charges) prior to tax was $10,557.49. prior to engine failure we informed the dealership that the check engine light was constantly on but stated that it was due to the gas cap not being properly put on. they never scanned the computer despite the car being under warranty. additionally a ticking noise has been previously brought to the dealership's attention but was told that the engine noise was normal for this particular engine.

Engine ceased on the highway while i was driving. mazda says it is my fault for going 2000 miles over the oil change. however, oil light never came on; car was not driving any differently than normal; and no service engine light came on. even though car is under warranty, mazda is refusing to pay for the damage. it is hard to believe that a well-maintained card with a little over 50k miles will cease it engine because of 2000 miles over an oil change.

This vehicle has caused me nothing but problems! i have had it for 3 years and it has been in the shop 4 times and this last time is the transmission at 70,000 miles! this is ridiculous...mazda needs to clean up it's act. customers should not have charges like this early on in the life of a vehicle. the vehicle is gorgeous but perhaps they should have spent a little more time putting it together as it doesn't matter for eye appealing it is when it doesn't run!

Just purchased the vehicle for my mom as a present because she has wanted one since they came out. it has 81,000 miles on it. the vvt has gone out, the timing chain needs replaced and now they are telling me that the engine is shot because of the sludge and the neglected care to the vehicle. i purchased the vehicle used so i do not know how it was cared for previously, but since we have had it, it has been cared for magnificently. i have read numerous consumer reports which stated the exact same problems im having. i'm getting quoted over $7,500 to fix the vehicle that i purchased not even 2 months ago. mazda should be held responsible for this.

Driving vehicle when it makes a loud squeeling sound and shortly thereafter begins to smoke. air conditioning had quit working the day before. have been told by a mechanic that the a/c compressor took a crap and the clutch locked up, furthermore this caused all of the fluids to leak out of the bearings. basically, a worst case scenario. i bought this car in may of 2010 at 24,000 miles and after seeing these complaints, i wonder if the dealership i bought the car from knew about these problems when i made the purchase. the mechanic is working hard to find the best priced compressor kit for replacement and offered to run my vin thru a local mazda dealership to see if there was a recall i wasn't told about. either way, i am out alot of money up front; thank goodness there are still good independant mechanics out there.

Smoke and rattling and low oil promted me to make an apt at my local mazda dealer only to find that my turbo has blown and my vvt valve and timing chain. (the truck is a 2007) i was told that i should not drive the truck as it would be a safety issue with 2 kids. so aftr my quote of 7000.00 to fix the truck i thought i would do some research online only to find that there are as many as 50 people with the same problem in the same truck with the same year~!! why wont mazda stand behind there product and put out a safety recall on this issue? i was told to find this site and lodge my complaint. hope this will do some good !!

I started to accelerate after coming off of an exit ramp when i heard a noise from the engine then i started to lose power. immediately after that when i depressed the gas pedal to accelerate, a grinding noise occurred. i was able to get the vehicle to a parking lot. i had the car towed to mazda dealership who informed me that the turbo had failed. they want all maintenance records for the time i have owned the car in order to make a determination of whether it will be covered under warranty. i purchased an extended powertrain warranty which covers the engine and turbo to 100,000. but it appears they are stating it is due to improper maintenance as i cannot produce all my oil change receipts.

Purchased my vehicle 15 months ago at 38,000 miles. in october, i was driving along and the car stopped running. no warning, nothing on the dash lighting up, the vehicle just started loosing speed. the steering was going as well. i put the vehicle in neutral to try and get the steering back and it was a hard steer to the side of the road. i tried starting the vehicle and it would turn but not start. two tows later, i find, to my surprise at 62,000, that i need a new engine. my timing chain either broke or has derailed. this all happened on october 22nd. it is now november 10th and i still do not have an exact diagnosis nor a vehicle. yes, warranty is done at 60,000 miles, but what vehicles loose and engine at 62,000 in this decade? and, thankfully, i was not on a highway when this happened as i'm not sure what happened to the steering in this whole process.

The air conditioning compressor on the vehicle seized with no warning & caused the serpentine belt to catch on fire. this appears to be a known issue with this vehicle, based on many postings on the internet. additionally, the service manager at the dealer i take my vehicle to for service said a noise getting progressively louder in the engine is the timing chain adjuster that will require replacement very soon. he said this is a known issue with this particular vehicle, and the many postings on the internet about the same issue seem to confirm his statement. combined, repairs for both will be in the $3500 to $5000 range.

Car suddenly stalled 3 hours away from home; no noticeable performance issues / noise prior. towed to mechanic who determined timing belt broke causing some valves to bend and other damage therefore replacement of engine required. was on edmunds, other car blog sites along with researching this site and found that many, many others who have encountered the same issue around the 60k miles mark (or less in some cases). spoke to mazda and they are not taking any ownership or responsibility even though many incidences of the same mechanical problem. oil changes were made regularly and car was last into mazda for a noise less than a year ago which they said was due to my brakes. have owned many cars before (not mazdas) and this car is a huge disappointment as is my experience with mazda. i hope this issue will be or is being pursued with mazda.

I have had my 2007 mazda cx-7 for less than one year. i stopped at a red light after exiting the highway and my car engulfed in thick white smoke. i had the car towed to a local shop per my insurance company to have it checked out. the repair shop at first called to tell me it was the starter, and that it would cost 600 to fix it. come to find out that not only the starter blew, but it also ruined the alternator as well as the fuses on the battery. i was told by mazda that this is not a common occurrence. the total of the repairs is now over 1200. the vehicle has been meticulously maintained throughout its lifespan and is at 92,000 miles.

2007 mazda cx7 - turbo broke while driving causing tremendous sqeeling sound and loss of power. able to drive home and had towed to mazda dealership. service mgr called me saying they checked car over and could not find anything wrong with it and asked if i wanted an oil change. i said go ahead with an oil change but there is definitely something wrong with car and to check again. mgr called back later saying a screw in the turbo had come loose, turbo was broken, i needed a whole new engine and it would cost $9,000. car had 34,000 miles and still under warranty. i fax'd copies of oil change receipts. mazda north america denied warranty claim saying my oil receipts were unverifiable. mna told me they wouild not verify my receipts. they claimed there was sludge and that caused it to break and i hadn't taken care of it. it was a leased vehicle with only 3 months left to pay. had just started a new job after being unemployed and had to rent a car costing $650 and then go buy a kia causing extreme financial & emotional duress. i told the serv mgr that i could have been killed and found out these cars were engineered incorrectly causing them to get too hot causing sludge, that i knew he knew about the issue because a service bulletin had been released jan 08 stating the exact problem, and mazada was trying to avoid a recall. he stated that it was mazda north america, and not him and if it were up to him he would fix the car under warranty. i told him i was under extreme duress and that mazda should do the right thing and fix the car. they refused so had to leave the car at the dealership.and walk away. now mazda says i owe them $5,000. filed complaints with bbb and attny general. it is an outrage that so many mazda cx7 owners have had same nightmare and mazda does not care about the safety of it's customers. please help us.

7/6/10(25,000 miles) driving piece of crap from w-pa to phila after 1 1/2 hours in car airconditioning gets hot & loud noise starts. able to pull off main highway &find a sears auto shop they say air compressor in my pice of crap (2007 cx7) has fallen apart - they don't do this work-i needed a mazda dealership-they wouldn't recommend me driving home! it's a holiday (july 4th celebrated this day) i have no idea where a dealership is-i am over 200 miles from home - everything else is closed. found a hotel to stay overnt & search for a dealership. found 1 abt 20 miles away. next day (praying the whole 20 miles) that piece of crap would make it to the shop. it did i explain situation to a non-caring, won't look me in the face mechanic who finally states (after 3 hour wait) my warranty expired 5 days prior & it would take 3 days to get part & fix. here i am 200 miles away from home, in a not so racially diverse area of west pa- leaving for vaca the next day- & i can't get home!!! it was like pulling teeth to get a rental car # & a taxi cab # from these people. i was finally able to get home via 8 hour bus ride & go on much needed (after this ordeal) vaca, however i still had to pay over $800 & pick piece of crap back up. i complained to mazda couple times &finally got letter that they were extending the warranty for air compressors to 60,000 so i got $ back, but not for the hotel stay, taxi ride to bus and bus ride home and back up there! couple other problems came up later -white smoke out of tail pipe after ideling, dealership couldn't find a problem, also saw something leaking, dealership couldn't find anything leaking--- 8/4/11 (31,000 miles) took piece of crap in for a noise it's making at start up. vvt gone bad, but still under the powertrain warranty so got fixed. what's next??? i'm afraid to drive to far in this car!! can't take driving vacas-- gonna get rid of piece of crap prior to the warranties expiring in 2012! got to!!!

Driving on the freeway 65 miles per hour, engine shut off... pulled to side of road. car towed to mechanic. diagnostic with two quotes timing chain snapped bent valve, need to replace the engine. i have been reviewing forums and have found this is an issue with hundreds of mazda cx7 2007 models. my car is at the 61,000 miles mark. if so many people are having the exact same issue its no coincidence, thankfully on the day my engine shut down was in the far lane that i could pull over. someone else with this car might not be so lucky. mazda needs to recall and start doing something.

2007 mazda cx-7 awd grand touring with 39k miles. car was being driven had sudden loss of power while traveling down road. in traffic car suddenly slowed to crawl at 20mph once car was navigated to shoulder and stopped it would not restart. the vehicle was towed to dealership where they have stated that the timing chain or vvt has failed resulting in timing chain failure thus total engine failure. known problem reported numerous times and yet mazda dealership has informed me that with the maintenance records provided they are refusing repair. these timing chains are failing on cars with 19k-60k miles, not within normal maintence.

2007 grand touring mazda cx-7 has well known vvt issue causing oil to burn, in spite of regular oil changes and all recommended maintenance. we are original owners and know how car was maintained . timing chain went at 62k miles, just out of warranty. after that service, drove 1k more miles and noticed loss of acceleration. took car back to dealer, and they advised we needed a whole new engine, which they would not cover, aside from a 20% goodwill offset. spouse won

An excess of white smoke emitted from exhaust upon acceleration after a brief period of idle. it was determined that a faulty turbo charger was to blame. so the car was in the shop for 7 days while they replaced the turbo. several months later the car wouldn't start after sitting in a heated garage overnight. it sounded as though the cylinders weren't firing properly. car was towed to mechanic who identified issue as fouled cylinder heads from prior failure of turbo. this time the entire engine was replaced. again the car was in the shop for approximately seven days. some months later an oppressive amount of road noise appeared at all speeds on all road surfaces. we were directed that the tires were to blame. after replacing all 4 tires at a cost of nearly $800 the sound persisted. upon further inspection the technician found that the wheel speed censors on the rear wheels had failed allowing water to seep in and rust rear wheel bearings. all four wheel bearings where replaced. today the vehicle is again in for engine repair to replace the oxygen censor and a dead battery. after owning the car for 18 months it is has been in the shop for a total of approximately 4 weeks.

My wife's 2007 cx7 was in a parking lot. my wife started it up, came to a stop sign and the car died without warning. it had 65,000 miles on it (5000 over the warranty) and wasn't even 3 years old. we had always gotten regular oil changes and had just had one the week before. we had it towed to the nearest mazda dealer. the first time i talked to a service tech he mentioned the timing chain breaking. later, they explained it as a valve (variable valve timing actuator?) failing and causing oil chain failure (jumping the gearing). my bill ($7500 - new engine) only states internal parts failure. they tried to indicate the oil was dirty even thought the oil was changed less than a week prior. after reading through many cx7 forums online it seems they were trying to build a case for engine sludge to cover themselves. less than 2 months later replaced intake manifold shutter valve and had to flush and reseal brake lines. went to kerry mazda of ky to originally purchase a 2008 because of low finance deals. they shifted my attention to the 2007 (3500 miles) and i agreed because of the certified new (100,000 miles) program. when i found out i didn't have 100,000 mile coverage i went back to dealer and we pulled the paperwork and under the warranty it says certified and also remainder manufacturer's warranty. so it ends up they sold me a used car as new and i didn't even get the financing of a new car - very shady. mazda corporate was of no help either, simply stating the car was out of warranty and there was nothing they could do. needless to say i will never buy mazda again. i will also make sure i don't trust what they say and make sure i read and understand every page even as they try and rush you through it. i fear someone will be killed when their cx7 suddenly stops on a busy highway. hopefully, mazda will address the problem before that happens.

2007 mazda cx7, at 57,211 miles , air condition compresor froze, disabled car. on 10/27/10 88 k miles, car would not start, independent garage determined it needs a new engine.called mazda corp. file # 132495780. mazda representitive asked to tow the car to a mazda dealer for diagnostics, and mazda will send a field manager to determine if the engine failure is due to manafacturer defect or not. mazda may be willing to offer after warranty assistance in the cost of the repair or even cover the entire cost. car was towed to a mazda dealer on 10/28/10 am. at 5 pm same day, dealer called my wife and said that the car needs a new engine and it will cost $8000 + to fix it, and the mazda corp field manager said that based on the maintenance record and milage, mazda corp will not offer any assistance. i was never asked to provide any maintenance records and i do not believe the field manager even looked at the car as mazda representative said he would. thier is 195 complains filed with the odi in regard to 2007 cx7 compressor and/or engine failuar. i believe that the air compresor and the engine failure are due to manafacturer defect. mazda corp. is very well aware of it , and not owning up to it. mazda corp is not even honoring cars under warranty in most cases, using the excuse of lake of maintenance records and sludge in the engine. may be mazda corp. and the nhtsa are waiting for some one to die before they investigate the problem with the engine and compressor on the 2007 cx 7.

While normal driving, the 2007 mazda cx-7 stopped running. it was towed to the local mazda dealship (san antonio, tx). upon further investigation, the consumer was informed that a new engine was required due to excessive sludge build-up in the engine. additionally, the consumer was told that this repair would not be covered by the warranty due to lack of required maintenance resulting in sludge build-up. the vehicle was maintained in accordance with the owners manual, but the consumer was told approx. $7000.00 for an engine replacement.

My wife and i purchased a 2007 mazda cx-7 a few years ago, and over the last three months it has been in the shop with multiple problems. from an oil leak, to a bad compressor, then the timing chain gone bad and now another problem with the egr. the car has a little over 38k miles and to me it seems very odd for a car being this young in miles, to have major problems such as these. after going back and forth with the mazda corporate office, they first agreed to pay for the parts for my latest problems since i'm now out of warranty. i was fine with that until i found out the labor was over $500 to fix this problem. when i call the corporate office to try to discuss splitting the labor costs, their supervisor contacted me back with an attitude like i did something wrong and decided they were now not going to help at all. that is just poor customer service behind a vehicle that was not ready to be put on our us roadways. in my opinion, this car should be recalled. after reviewing some of the forums, many others agree with my displeasure in the problems with the mazda cx-7--check this linkhttp://townhall-talk.edmunds.com/direct/view/.f0e5b59/110. thank you. *jb

While driving at night at highway speed, noise started to come from engine compartment. seemed to come and go, but suddenly smelled smoke and lost power steering. nearly had a head on collision. this was a very serious near miss. managed to get car to neighborhood car repair shop. after inspection, cause was determined to be seized a/c compressor that led to cascading failures. cost to repair all damage was $2250. i have since read that this is a common failure on mazda cx-7 and still no recall? i will be sending a claim to mazda usa and would also be interested in joining any class action suite to recoupe all my costs and to force mazda usa to make a recall. family's lives are at stake. *tr

While driving we heard a noise from the engine, we were about a mile from our destination. when we pulled into the parking lot we saw smoke coming from the engine compartment. when my husband opened the hood, we saw flames. we immediately called 911 and ran to the building to procure a fire extingusher. we were able to locate one and my husband put out the fire. we were told by the mazda dealership that the compressor clutch had failed, causing the fire. we had purchased an extended warranty on the vehicle, unfortunately, it only covered to 60,000 miles and the vehicle had 61,000 miles. the service manager suggested that we should file a claim on our insurance, but since we haven't been able to get a detailed estimate on the damages, we haven't proceeded that far yet. they have had the vehicle for three days and there is no complete information on the damages. *tr

My wife was driving her 2007 mazda cx-7 when she heard a bang and smoke started billowing from under the hood. she pulled over and turned off the car. after inspection, i determined it was the ac compressor because it wouldn't smoke when the ac was turned off. we took the car to the dealer and they confirmed my suspicion. the air compressor had locked up and needed to be replaced as well as the belt. this was going to cost $1069 plus tax. after reading over 15 pages of similar complaints on edmund's forum, i am filing a complaint. it appears that my wife only had a minor incident while others lost power steering and complete operation of their vehicle. this issue definitely needs to be recalled as this is happening to many vehicles and may cost someone's life. *tr

We own a 2007 mazda cx7. we took a vacation to florida from ohio. on the way back, we began to smell burning rubber. i stopped to check it out, but everything looked to be in order and nothing was leaking. we then lost air conditioning and the smell became more prevalent. minutes later, there was a loud bang from under the hood. the car basically began shutting down. all check engine lights came on. smoke from under the hook. no power steering. this happened at 1am in the hills of west virginia, and we were lucky to coast into a motel. this left us stranded at the motel, and upon opening my hood - there was coolant all over the engine bay and there were shreds of rubber from the belts that had snapped off. the shredded belts were still sitting inside the engine bay, and everything was still smoking. the cap had popped off of the radiator, which is why there was a coolant mess everywhere. we had to get the car towed to the closest mazda dealership (1 hour away). we were then left without our vehicle for a month while they were trying to retrieve parts. it was during this time that i found out this isn't an isolated incident, and i feel mazda needs to address this asap. i was driving with my wife, toddler, and infant - and this put us in a very frustrating situation. i was glad i was driving and not my wife, as it could have put her stranded somewhere. this is inexcusable that a car, with only 30,000 miles on it, would have this much damage. they need to address these faulty compressors. *tr

The ac compressor locked up and caused a list of damage including needing a new motor. started smoking outside and inside the car and then making a horrible noise. replaced ac pump, belts, crank pulley, belt tensioner, idler pulley and because the timing belt also broke this caused the damage to the engine. after doing research, this seems to be the trend for a 2007 mazda cx7. *tr

I was driving down the road when all of a sudden i could smell smoke and my ac just stopped. i took my 2007 mazda cx-7 into 3 shops. one was the mazda dealer where i bought the car. all 3 places told me that my ac compressor clutch had gone out. the part and labor is costing me $750 to fix. i have been reading on several online forums that this is a common problem and often leads to the s-belt breaking and the entire car just stopping while driving. i even had one of the mechanics tell me that it could happen to me at any time. *tr

Vehicle began to smoke from under the hood. pulled to shoulder of expressway and shut engine off. looked under hood, then tried to restart. engine would not crank. had vehicle towed to dealership. found a/c compressor seized and starter damaged from attempting to restart engine. dealer replaced starter, a/c compressor, exp tank, belt and freon. vehicle is a one owner with 43,203 miles. dealer did split cost $1879.92/$939.96. when searching on line, found many customers of same vehicle w/same problem seems mazda knows of problem and has changed design of compressor, but will not recall this item, even though vehicle can loose power steering. *tr

The air conditioner compressor on my 2007 mazda cx-7 with approximately 45,000 miles quit working and the air conditioner started blowing hot air. the faulty compressor caused the engine to seize, start smoking profusely and started an internal fire that severely damaged the engine and nearly caused an accident on a busy highway. *tr

I have been driving a 2007 mazda cx-7 for two years now, at 48,000 miles, my ac compressor locked up. the air started blowing warm then started seeing smoke from under the hood. i had to pull the car over to the side of the road and smelled burning plastic. took the car to the dealer and they told me the air conditioner compressor gave out and would cost 1200 to fix. i read online posts and this seems to be a widespread problem and clearly mazda is selling a defective product. the smoke is a environmental hazard and dangerous if it leads to fire. *tr

We have a 2007 mazda cx-7. we were driving home from camping and started to smell this horrible burning rubber smell coming from the truck. after a few mins i started seeing smoke coming from the right side of the hood. at that time our friends called us. we had them following from camping. they said they seen alot of smoke and smelled something bad. we got off at federal way and pulled into a shell station to look and get gas. my husband lifts the hood and there is a small fire and lots more smoke coming from the a/c compressor. he then notices that the serpentine belt is almost melted threw. so we pull into a parking spot and out of the way when we heard a loud noise and snap. the belt came off. so we had to call mazda roadside service and get it towed to the auburn dealership. it was sunday night so we had to wait until monday morning to call. we had our 3 year old son with us. we thought we were buying a safe car and wouldn't have to deal with something like a small fire with 2007 safest vehicle of the year. now it turns out our warranty ended 2,000 miles ago we have 38,000 and there is nothing they will do to help, other than say its 1500 to fix your car. we are a single family income and that's alot of money to come up with. i have found out there are a hundred or so people this has happened to. why is there no recall already? it obviously causes small fires and is not safe for children. please consider recalling the a/c compressors, clutch packs, and serpentine belts. mazda must know there is a problem. they have a deal for the parts. genuine mazda cx-7 air conditioner compressor with clutch and belt new lower price $484.85, but i was still quoted $1,500. *tr

At 41,000 miles, my air compressor failed. it started by running the ac and then the compressor locked up. the belt got ruined because of the friction and now i'm having to replace it all. i just recently browsed the internet and found that i'm not the only one with this problem. it seems to be a trend with this vehicle. i can save the old compressor if need be. *tr

Smoke started to come from the engine compartment and smelled like burnt rubber. there was no leak and all the belts looked ok. lost power steering and engine died. did not turn on and had to have it towed to the dealer. the dealer explained that this was caused by the a/c compressor and wanted to charge around $1900 (with taxes and everything). since i had an extended warranty that took care of most except $180. i would not file a complaint, except that the only other friend that has a cx-7 had the exact same problem and now looking at the internet it seems to be a widespread problem that needs to be fixed. it may be too late for me, but they should do a recall so other people could be potentially saved from harm. *tr

The ac on my 2007 mazda cx-7 stopped working while driving on freeway about 14 months after i bought it. i had an appointment within a couple days to bring it in for an oil change so i didn't do anything immediately. the next day, while driving locally i saw smoke coming from the rear of the car and then the power steering stopped working. i forced the car over to the side and got it towed to the nearest mazda dealer. after 2 weeks without the car, they finally fixed it saying that the belt tensioner had frozen up and the belt had melted onto the ac compressor and power steering drive wheel. they had to replace both pulleys and the belt with parts shipped in directly from japan. the car should not have had this major of a problem within 25k miles and less than a year and a half of driving, and i'm wondering what other damage it may have caused that will crop up in the future. *tr
ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING - COOLING SYSTEM
08/13/201168000
My wife and i have a 2007 mazda cx 7 with 68000 miles on it. on august 13th my wife was driving with my 9 month old daughter and noted a funny sound with loss of air conditioning or change of quality of air conditioning. she reported smoke and noise that followed. luckily she was on a back road and close to her destination and was able to arrive at the destination without having to drive far. she phoned me and gave me the news and i immediately knew it was the air conditioning compressor. this is due to research i have done that the mazda cx 7 from 2007 is notorious for the air conditioning compressor seizing up. luckily my wife was aware of this issue and parked the car and had it towed to a local mechanic to be repaired. in the meantime, i had emailed mazda and reported the issue, the part had the warranty extended to 60000 miles, so i was already irritated to know that this happened 8000 miles outside of warranty on a part mazda already knew was defective. they have yet to respond to my email and that was already more than a week ago. the car is repaired now and not by a mazda dealership as i refuse to give them anymore of my money. i am very displeased with the lack of customer service and lack of ownership by this company over an issue with this part they clearly know exhists. this part is clearly defective and dangerous and should have been recalled and replaced. i think it is ridiculous that they extended a warranty, but will not just replace a defective part they produced that could cause personal harm and danger to not only the owners of this car, but other people on the road around it.

Was returning to california from arizona when car started making an awful noise. i suspected it was the a/c compressor as i had read about their failures online. i had just passed the 60,000 mile extended coverage period, however my mazda dealer was able to get mazda to cover 95% of the charges. i was not happy that i had to pay anything at all, but i feel fortunate that mazda threw me a bone. others have not been so lucky. mazda should compensate them.

My wife was on her way home when there was a funny buzzing or squealing noise comming from under the hood of her 07 mazda cx7. she pulled over and there was smoke coming from her right front tire area. she then had to call our insurance roadside assistance to have it towed to our local service repair shop. later we found that the ac compressor was seazed and the belt was melted. after further reasearch upon this matter i am finding that there is an astonishing number of other people that have had the same issue. come to find out mazda is telling people that this is a known issue and to come in and pay $1500- $2500 to have the defective part replaced. this is unacceptable!!!!! my wife is on the side of the freeway at rush hour waiting for a tow truck and mazda could have had this issue resolved... how many other people have to be put into dangerous situations before mazda steps up and takes care of a known problem..

Mazda sent a letter to report a known issue with the 2007 and 2008 cx-7 in august 2010. the a/c compressor was creating issues and mazda extended the warranty to 60,000 miles. the letter indicated that no action was needed unless you heard a strange noise. based on my experience and those of others, the problem occurs with no warning and all of a sudden the a/c stops working and smoke begins to come from under the hood. the issue can also cause the power steering to go out and the car to stall so how can this not be a safety concern and not be considered a recall? the warranty is only extended to 60,000 miles and there are many cases where the problem does not occur until after 60,000 miles. is mazda just hoping that most will happen after 60k so they don't have to pay for the repair? i had the dealer check it during a routine service but they wouldn't repair it unless there was a noise. while on vacation, my car a/c stopped working and started to make the noise. then smoke started to come out from under the hood, frightening my kids in the car. we were traveling on the interstate at the time and had to find a safe place to pull aside. we barely made it to the nearest mechanic before the belt broke. my car had 65,000 miles and mazda will not pay for the cost of the repair, nor the cost to rent a car in its place. now i am out almost $1,700 for repairs and rental fees. this issue needs to be investigated. does someone have to die in an accident as a result for mazda to be held accountable?

While driving home with my a/c on, my 2007 mazda cx7 began making a terrible whining & griding sound, followed by billows of smoke coming from under the hood. i immediately pulled off the road, turned off the car and opened the hood, which continued to smoke for some time and there was a smell of burning rubber. i burned my hand in the process. the car was deemed unsafe and undriveable and had to be towed back to the nearest mazda dealer where we had also purchased the vehicle. it was late at night, so ,the next morning i received a call from the dealer telling me the fire started with the a/c compressor, which then ignited the drive belt. that's why it smelled so awful. he said it was burned badly. the parts were not in stock, so, they have to order new parts. so, i'm without transporation. no offer from the dealer for a rental. they also did not tell me that there was a recall on 2007 mazda cx7 a/c compressors, which i learned about by online research. i never received a letter from mazda regarding the recall. so, it turns out that many, many people are experiencing the same issue and not enough is being done about it to fix the problem. the car has less than 30k miles and recently had a full inspection by the dealer. i'm now waiting to find out if the dealer will try to get me to pay for this or if they will honor the warranty. many online complaintants are being denied and are being forced to pay for this themselves. this is not right.

2007 mazda cx-7 - a/c compressor went out (mileage 43,090 and out of warranty) on way to work on 1/4/11 around 7:30am. my car started making loud noises from the engine the day before but their were no warning signs in my car. on my way to work a lot of white smoke from my tale pipes started coming out and the noise got louder along with a burning smell and then my battery light came on and my car cut off while i was on the highway. i was lucky to coast off to the side of the the road. $1250 to replace parts/tow and labor. seems this is a known issue with mazda because i have been on a lot of forums where tons of people are having the same issue. mazda on rt. 42 south jersey nj didn't mention this was a known issue. many customers have had this happen multiple times. some within the 36k btb warranty, some after. with this being a known issue, shouldn't this be a recall if it is a problem that will occur on most 2007 cx-7's with the part?

Stopped at traffic signal 1 mile after leaving office. loud howling noise from engine compartment accompanied by burning smell . smoke began pouring from front left side of engine area. engine fire and/or complete failure averted by immediate shut down of vehicle. problem diagnosed as a/c compressor failure. vehicle has 57k miles. subsiquent seach of web forums on the problem details numerous complaints of same issue. filing complaint today as this is an obvious design flaw that has not been addressed by manufacturer, through recall or tsb, that could lead to engine fire/failure and serious injury to vehicle occupants; either through vehclie fire or loss of control from engine or system failure, as a result of the defect.

Driving my car (2007 cx-7 with 29,500 miles on it - still supposed to be under warranty) as normal on a relatively hot and muggy day with a/c on (may 27, 2010). rolled to a stop at a light at the bottom of an exit ramp, and the car shuttered and died. popped into neutral, started up, put it in drive and it died again. i shut off the a/c and put the windows down to listen to the car, put it in neutral again and it started, put it in drive and it drove just fine. engine temp was fine. i drove the car without a/c to get home safely. my husband and i switched cars (he has a mazda 3, we are (were?) mazda lovers). he drove it without a/c for the week, and on a limited basis until we could get it to a service appointment. morning of june 3, car has smoke coming out of engine after driving 2-3 miles from home. only the fan was running. there is an awful sound that comes on if the car runs with any of the air/circulation components. engine temp is still in the normal range. it is currently at a dealership and we are waiting to hear back, but my suspicion is that it is the same problem with the a/c compressor/clutch/belt set up. not good.

I bought my 2007 mazda cx-7 february 2007 with 19,000 miles. at the 20,000 mile mark i had to take the car in to get the transmission computer replaced, thankfully my car was still under warranty and that got taken care of..at 35,000 miles i began having electrical issues, with the windows & doors, i eventually went outside of the mazda corporation to fix the problem since my warranty had expired.i encountered the biggest problem of all on may 30th 2,010 at 39,000miles and a mere 16 months after having purchased the vehicle. while on a trip out of town with my family for memorial day weekend, the a/c suddenly went out and a strong burning smell began to fill the car.the smell was soo sudden and strong that my severe asthma almost immediately begin to act up. fortunately,we were close to our destination and were able to stop within a few minutes. we figured we would let the car rest and didnt drive it for 24 hrs. the following day when we attempted to turn in on, it would not start and there was thick white smoke coming from the hood. we opened the hood and a giant cloud of smoke filled the air along with the reek of burning rubber. being it was memorial day we struggled to find a mechanic shop that was open to assist us and to tow our car. upon diagnosis it was established that the a/c compressor had died out having burned multiple components of my car, the final cost of these repairs is over $1600 including a $1200 compressor. i attempted to call mazda corporate as well as the dealership where i purchased the vehicle and they seemed to wipe their hands clean off this incident even though upon research this seems to be a very common problem in this vehicle, one that upon discussing on forums they seem to be very aware of. i do not have $1600 at hand thus my vehicle remains out of town where it broke down.mazda's nonchalant attitude is pushing me to file a class action lawsuit, they need to take responsibility for this defect & recall it this vehicle immediately!

While driving my 2007 mazda cx7 with circulating fan on suddenly heard a grinding noise and had a lot of white smoke coming from under right front hood. there weren't any warning lights on my dash & the temp gauge read normal. car has 43,000 miles on it and was at dealer previous week for routine oil change. local mazda dealer advised a/c compressor, dryer, expansion valve, pag oil & freon are all needed for $1,400 and it would take a 1/2 day to repair once they had the parts. this is a known defect and mazda should cover with a recall.

I was stranded an hour away from home b/c my mazda cx-7 wouldn't start. i had to have it towed back to the dealership an hour away. the problem was that the ac compressor broke and that cause the drive belt to break which in turn caused a motor mount to blow out and all that drained my battery such that i had to replace it as well. this happened less than a week ago and i'm already hearing of others who have also had problems with their ac in the same type car. *tr

I was driving home on thursday, 3 sep 2009 when i heard this horrid sound coming from under the hood of my car. i noticed smoke coming from under the hood and, fortunately, i was close to my driveway so i was able to park and turn the car off. at first, i couldn't figure out the exact location of where the smoke was coming from but the smell of burning rubber forced me to leave it alone and let it sit over night. the next morning, when i started the car, i noticed that there was a really hot part on my car ... i'm not mechanically inclined but, i knew that the metal part turning a bright shade of orange is not a good thing. i have a mechanic for a neighbor and i asked him to look at my car. he immediately asked me if my a/c was on (it was on 1). once i turned it off, the sound and smoke went away but he told me that the a/c compressor is shot. being that my car is only 2 years and has only 29797 miles on it, i called mazda (usa) to see if i could take my car to the mazda dealership here in landstuhl, germany and have it fixed - as it is still under warranty. simple answer- no. i have read numerous stories on the internet about other 2007 cx-7 owners having the same problem (and how the 2008 cx-7's a/c compressor was updated, thus does not have the same issue), so mazda is aware of the problem, they've just chosen to remain mum about it. now i am in a quandry as to how to go about repairing this car. i am in a dilemma of having to repair the car but at what expense? if i do it myself, any chance of having mazda stand by the part is thrown into question when i do return back to the u.s. in 2011. *tr

In march, my 2007 mazda cx-7 had an air compressor failure. i was coming off an exit ramp of a major highway when i noticed that my air conditioner was blowing hot air. i turned it off, then smelled burning rubber. immediately after, white smoke started pouring out from underneath my hood. while i was able to make it home, i was unable to drive the car any further. i took the car to my local dealer, and my car, like so many others, was out of warranty at a little over 50,000 miles. the dealer told me that the problem was my air compressor. i did research on the internet and found many other people experiencing the same issue. my dealership told me that this was a recurring problem with the 2007 cx-7, but that no recall had been issued. i was unable to get a loaner vehicle from my dealership and had to pay for a rental car. the cost of my repair was $1480, along with the car rental. i love my cx-7, but i will not buy another mazda after this vehicle. i feel very strongly that this is a major safety issue and needs to be investigated and corrected by mazda. i intend to let as many people as possible know about this problem.. i tried to contact mazda to no avail. it took my dealership a week to get the replacement parts for the new air compressor. *tr

I bought my 2007 mazda cx-7 less than two years ago, with only 17,000 miles on it because it was a dealer demo for less than a year. over the weekend (saturday, july11, 2009) my air conditioning began blowing out hot air. the next day, my engine sounded as if it were sputtering, and my car began smoking and smelling like burnt rubber. this morning, 7/13/09, i immediately took my car to my local mazda dealership, and they told me my air compressor needed replacing for more than $800, and my car is not drivable. on top of that, the air compressor will take up to 3 weeks to order, and mazda will not reimburse me for a rental car or provide a comparable dealer car to drive because my 25,000 mile warranty has expired. my real concern is not the money, although it's a huge repair bill for a brand new car, but it's safety. if i'd driven my car a few more miles, i'm afraid my engine would have caught fire. --nicole ferguson, winston-salem, nc. *tr

I own a 2007 mazda cx7 with only 41k miles on it. it started blowing hot air, a/c would not work and it was making awful noise. i did some investigating online and discovered numerous complaints about the 2007 model having the exact same issue. luckily i read how people have experienced their car breaking down and inoperable when the same issue happened to them, so i took the car straight to the dealer. it is the ac compressor and will need to be replaced in order to even drive car ($1400 repair). this is a safety issue because no one would think their car was undrivable because the a/c isn't working. when the compressor goes out, it is shortly followed by smoke, bad smell and car breakdown. on the highway this is extremely dangerous. this is obviously a part defect and mazda is fully aware of the problem, yet they are doing nothing about it. an ac compressor is not supposed to last only 20k-50k miles on a car, that is ridiculous and consumers of the 2007 mazda cx-7 should not be burdened with bearing the replacement cost because we have a defective part in our car, nor should we have to be subjected to the safety hazard this defect can cause by complete breakdown of the car. *tr

Car recently purchased december 2008 and inspected one month ago but is over warranty. the compressor goes out for no reason per the dealer and he advised that he see this problem in the cx7s all of the time. i have also visited other car blog sites and people reporting the exact same problem with the compressor. i called mazda and they gave me a file #124465 but advise they are simply unable to reach the rep in my area. *tr

At 45k and on vacation 500mi from home, a/c started blowing hot air and burning odor, friction noise, and smoke from serpentine belt area. took the car to local mazda dealer, told that the a/c compressor had seized up and the part is not available for over 1 week (nationally!) and that compressor failure might have caused other problems that need to be fixed. have to get a rental car and come back in 2+ weeks to pick the car back. *tr

Faulty a/c compressor and clutch on all 2007-2008 cx-7. all cx-7's with the faulty a/c compressor and clutch will fail. it costs -$1,200 -$1,400 to fix (if not under warranty). mazda acknowledges the failure, but does not cover cost of new redesigned unit because of economics (and no safety issue). *tr

Ac compressor failed after 23 months of ownership, 40,000 miles to be exact. dealer tells me that mazda completely overhauled the design of the air conditioning of the following years model. the compressor was completely different. this is a red flag and proves that their design on the 07 model was flawed... ac compressor bearing locked up suddenly even though system was turned off, then belt snapped, then vehicle shut off and came to a stop in the middle of a busy road, this creates a major safety issue. if happened on a freeway it could have caused a major accident. based on internet discussion forums this appears to be a regular occurrence on this vehicle. *tr

Ac compressor went out on my mazda cx7 after only 19k. while i was driving on the interstate, the compressor locked and the a/c belt popped cutting wires and causing smoke and the smell of an electrical fire. i was lucky enough to be able to get off the road before the smoke turned into a fire. after getting on the internet, i found out this is a popular problem with cx7s along with shotty tires that has to be replace between 10k to 18k miles. *tr

While on a trip, our a/c stopped working on our 2007 mazda cx-7. this car was 1 year and 1 month old we went to the nearest mazda dealership. parts were not available, and the service tech told us that we could continue to drive the car without a/c. 200 miles later, the engine started making sounds and the car stalled in the middle of a busy road. we were able to get the car restarted and attempted to get the car off the road, and couldn't find any place to pull over, and then black smoke engulfed the car. the car died in the middle of a busy street with no shoulder. we believed at the time that our car had caught on fire. the car continued to emit a large amount of black smoke, we ran from the car called 911. we did not open the hood of the car thinking that there was probably a fire under the hood. by the time the police dept arrived, the smoking stopped. our car was disabled on the middle of a busy street (with no shoulder). we were very lucky that our car didn't cause any serious accidents to other vehicles while it was disabled in the middle of the road. we were left stranded with an inoperable burnt car 800 miles from home. our mazda roadside assistance was absolutely worthless. it turned out that the a/c seized up and caused the serpentine belt to disintegrate. the car was left at mazda for 2 weeks, and the part still had not come in and was on back order. the belt was replaced and an a/c unit taken from another cx-7 so we could get our car home. how can an a/c compressor be on back order on a 1 year old model, unless this has been happening on other mazdas? i believe that this is definitely a safety issue! *tr

2007 grand touring mazda cx-7 had bad ac compressor as typical with model at 30k miles and was putting out black when car returned in a fixed condition. they sited that we had dirty oil. timing chain went taking engine at 42k miles and we were first denied warranty work due to sludgie engine with mazda stating it was our lack of maintenance. after filing for bbb arbitration the agreed to replace engine and turbo if we paid the $900 labor bill. car came back after a month with a rattle and putting out white smoke. rattle i was told on phone at first was not repeatable then when adressed face to face was a loose engine bracket but went on paperwork as stabilizer bars front and rear. engine with 2400 miles on it is still putting out white smoke and acting sluggish and transmission shifts hard and likes gears 2 and 4 for the most part. first was told they could not see smoke then when addressed face to face was told cause it was cold outside then second excuse was condensation.. was told by mechanic friend he thinks turbo is going bad after a whopping 2400 miles. spouse wont let me operate car any longer in fear it will break down causing accident. as far as their service bulletin states that they dont have the turbo valve fix yet.. how am i to think i received a fixed car if i got a rebuilt engine a new but same brand etc turbo... not safe and sad to think someone will have to die before this is addressed

I bought my 2007 mazda cx-7 on november 2, 2008 from tustin mazda. from day one i have experienced an intermittent metal knocking noise while accelerating. it sounds like 3 or 4 clicks and i experience a slight lose of power. i have taken the vehicle back to the dealer more than 4 times. sometimes they have it for days; the last time for two weeks. the first few time they said they could not replicate the the problem. about a month ago the dealer said they fixed it. they also said my oil was sludgy and suggested a oil flush. i did not op for the oil flush because my regular mechanic said they are over-rated and a few oil changes should clear it up and the oil the dealer used may be prone to slugging up. the noise returned almost the day i got the car back. i returned two to three weeks later and told the dealer service people the noise was back. they kept the vehicle for two weeks and charged me $252.00 to run tests. i was told i would not have to pay if the work was covered under warranty. they opened the engine up and said the engine was sludgy. they told me mazda of america would not cover the work and i might need major work. i am supposedly losing compression on two of the four cylinders. because i cannot prove i changed my oil and do have receipts beyond the oil changes i had at the dealer, they say it is not covered under warranty. the vehicle only has 36,000. i think it had about 15,000 miles when i bought it when i bought it. the dealer is trying to tell me they fixed the problem i had been bringing it in for and the noise i hear now is new. it is not, it's the same! in fact i heard it again the day after i brought it home. i have done research on the web and it appears mazda uses the same excuse for a lot of similar issues and do not cover the work under warranty. they also refused to fix a recall issue i had in regards to a letter they sent me. they said i did not need the work even though the issues i have described are also described in the letter.

After short duration idol 5-10 minutes car blew heavy white and black smoke out of exhaust followed with a clanking/rattling sound from the rear of car. three time this happened in a short 4-7 mile drive home. took it to the dealer and at first the said they could not duplicate the problem but updated the engine and transmission computer program. then they let the car idol for some time and it blew the smoke and heard the sound. so they decided after calling and reporting the event to the regional manager to replace the turbo. i have looked on-line about these problems and have come across owners that have had their turbos replaced a few times and the problem still exists. when the parts are in and they replace the turbo, i will see if this is a fix. i have very little faith that this will fix the problems this vehicle has. and it has many. *tr

My daughter has a mazda 2007 cx-7 and i have a 2008 cx-7. the air conditioning in these cars, as witnessed by hundreds of complaints on line, is appalling. she had a pinhole in one of the hoses and it took 6 days to repair...for a hose?? additionally, her car has been back to the dealership 3 times for white smoke billowing out of the tailpipes...they have no idea what is causing it. *tr

2007 mazda cx-7. consumer experienced several problems with vehicle *tgw the consumer stated shortly after she purchased the vehicle, she noticed the headlights pointing toward the ground and it took 3-5 trips to the dealer before it was properly fixed. in june 2010, the check engine light illuminated. the dealer diagnosed the problem as an evap system leak which cost $461.80. in october 2010, during a routine inspection, it was discovered that the vehicle needed an outer tie rod end, in addition to that an alignment was also needed. one week later, the ac compressor failed. *jb
ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING - EXHAUST SYSTEM - EMISSION CONTROL - GAS RECIRCULATION VALVE (EGR VALVE)

My wife and i purchased a 2007 mazda cx-7 a few years ago, and over the last three months it has been in the shop with multiple problems. from an oil leak, to a bad compressor, then the timing chain gone bad and now another problem with the egr. the car has a little over 38k miles and to me it seems very odd for a car being this young in miles, to have major problems such as these. after going back and forth with the mazda corporate office, they first agreed to pay for the parts for my latest problems since i'm now out of warranty. i was fine with that until i found out the labor was over $500 to fix this problem. when i call the corporate office to try to discuss splitting the labor costs, their supervisor contacted me back with an attitude like i did something wrong and decided they were now not going to help at all. that is just poor customer service behind a vehicle that was not ready to be put on our us roadways. in my opinion, this car should be recalled. after reviewing some of the forums, many others agree with my displeasure in the problems with the mazda cx-7--check this linkhttp://townhall-talk.edmunds.com/direct/view/.f0e5b59/110. thank you. *jb
