 1. event leading up to failure: engine light on. brought in to maza 5 for service. engine mount appears to have broken. believe weight of engine on termperature sensor and vibration related to engine mount resulted in breakage of temperature sensor. 2. the failure, how often it occurs, its consequences engine mounts in 2006 mazda 5 are made of plastic and rubber engine mount that has a significantly high failure rate. see http://repairpal.com/defective-engine-mount-may-cause-excessive-vibrationnoise-460 for summary and http://www.finishlineperformance.com/pdf/mazda5/bulletin/03-001-07-1823.pdf for technical service bulletin. from research. defective engine mounts can cause significantly expensive damage to engine making it a safety hazard as it will impact drivability of vehicle. mazda 5 refuses to handle such issues as they are out of warranty despite they are a design flaw. 3. what was done to correct the failure out of pocket repairs at sutherlin mazda mall of georgia inclusive of service and parts to replace number 3 engine mount and temperature sensor additional notes: 2006 mazda 5 has undergone two prior recalls also safety related. engine mount failure and additional common problems with vehicle model can be found at http://repairpal.com/cars/mazda/5. believe this shows a pattern of vehicle design negligence. please inquire if mazda has reported issue to nhtsa regarding defective engine mounts and failure rates of these mounts associated with mazda technical service bulletin (see previous pdf url).

I'm driving a 2006 mazda5 that has been the subject of two previous recalls for engine overheating and catching fire due to exhaust and shoddy locks that do not work well under colder weather. this morning the car has smoke coming out of the engine compartment due to a faulty manufacturer ac compressor as diagnosed by sutherlin mazda in buford ga. the smoke and heat from the engine prompted and immediate shut down of the vehicle for fear of fire as the smoke was entering the cabin. after doing research, the only possible points of failure are faulty component, improper installation (eg moisture or air in valves, too much or two less oil --oil for the compressor and engine are not the same). unfortunately the mazda5 is slightly out of warranty and mazda corporate reclaims the ac compressor when the new one is installed. as a result of the part reclamation there is no accountability for the cause faulty component and i am left with $2000 work of repairs as a result. mazda corporate is unwilling to cooperate despite under georgia law the car is a lemon due from the first recall (repairs took over 45 days) and despite sutherlin mazda in buford, ga positively identified the issue as a failed manufacturer ac compressor. mazda corporate has refused to provide any data on failure rate of the ac compressors in these and other vehicles containing the same model compressor. i am requesting mazda corporate cover the cost of part and labor for required parts & labor as this model of vehicle is only two years old. *tr

Oil light began to flicker on maintained mazda 5. added 2 quarts oil. following day engine began to rattle , jerk and stop going 65 mph on freeway. a rod from within the motor crack and punctured the oil pan cracking the motor. a new motor is required. was advised by insurance mechanic sent for second opinion was a manufacture defect. mazda says is not cover by warranty because of mileage on car. *tr

I have had and intermittent engine stumble on my 2006 mazda5. i brought the car to the mazda dealership with the tsb 01-008/08. dealer stated that they could not duplicate the problem so therefore would not fix the problem under warranty. i have paid the dealer out of pocket to update the pcm for my vehicle. *tr

Tl- the contact owns a 2006 mazda5. the contact stated the engine light stays on. the contact replaced the idle control module and the speed sensor, but that did not correct the failure. the contact stated when the vehicle is idling it will start to shake and then stall. the contacts mechanic stated the problem is with the intake manifold vacuum valve which is under recall campaign 05v412000, which is for engine and engine cooling with the exhaust system. the manufacturer told the contact that their vehicle was not included in the recall. the failure mileage was 51000 and the current mileage was 54000.rl

Purchased a new mazda5 car from browning mazda in cerritos, california. shortly thereafter, we received a voluntary recall notice from mazda, requesting that we bring our car back to the dealership and park it for up to 30 days while mazda figured out how to take care of this problem. cars were catching on fire when driven at 60 mph in 2nd gear for extended periods of time, with the problem being with the rear muffler overheating and catching fire. we took our car in, and got a free loaner from enterprise rental cars. but as no more info was received from the dealer regarding how much longer we would be without our car, after a month and some weeks we retrieved our car and drove it home. this was two weeks ago, and we have yet to receive notification from mazda, as we were promised, to bring it in for the recall kit to be installed. i called the dealership service dept, they said some cars had been fixed, and that he would call me if the specific kit for my car came in, so that i could bring it in again. it still has not happened. *nm
