I purchased a new mazda 6 in 2005. since then i have had to replace the battery 3 times. each time the battery went out with no warning. it would be driving fine, i would park and get out. when returning to the car, it will not turn at all. internal and external lights and radio worked fine but car will not turn. the first two times the battery was jumped and the car was taken to a mazda dealership and replaced under the mazda battery manufacturer warranty because they went out before the 36 month warranty. the last time in august of 2010, the battery will not jump. i paid to have the car towed to a mazda dealership. i was told that the battery had a crack in it and acid leaked out and as a result, the engine wiring harness needed to be replaced. at this time, the battery was covered under the mazda manufacturer warranty and the wiring harness was covered under my mazda extended warranty plan. i did some research and found that there is a possibility that the leaking acid could have caused an explosion and my family was lucky. i received a call from the dealership saying that the manufacturer warranty will replace only the battery itself and the extended warranty is denying the entire claim because the damage to the wiring harness was from the battery acid. so, here i am with a battery under mazda manufactury warranty, covered by a mazda extended warranty plan and i had to pay for everything except for the battery itself. i paid for the tow, the labor and parts for the harness, rental car while it was being services. and the fact is that there was a faulty battery that leaked acid, put my family in danger, and i was stuck with the collateral damages. considering that this was my 3rd battery replacement in 5 years, i'm certain there is something wrong with these batteries or something in the car itself. i am now driving with my 3rd mazda battery replacement and afraid of when my next incident is going to be..

I was reading this complaint section and noticed that there was someone complaining about the same issues i was having. i own a 2005 mazda6 sedan sport -- it has died three times on me, for no apparent reason. once at a stop sign, again at a metering light on the freeway and then again in the middle of a busy intersection in san francisco. i have documented all three incidents and have brought to the dealership, but they never really found anything wrong -- but obviously something is wrong if my brand new car dies. this was back in november and it's been fine ever since (it's april now), but i still have some sort of anxiety when driving - not knowing if i will reach my destination or not. *jb

I own a 2005 mazda 6 i sedan. after owning my car for 7 months it has turned off 3 times while driving. once i was on the highway the other two times i was at a stop. i have taken it to the dealership twice to have the problem examined and no problem has been found. my car has received all of the scheduled maintenance. yet the problem still occurs. when the car stalls it usually starts again immediately however i don't think a new car should have this problem. *nm
ELECTRICAL SYSTEM - IGNITION

Had 30000 mile service done prior to a 1000 mile one way vacation trip. after arriving at our destination washed car at coin car wash. drove car for about 10 minutes and engine began surging, transmission would not move from second gear, and vehicle speed would not exceed 20 mph. exited roadway and parked vehicle overnight. at engine startup vehicle ran fine but with engine light on. drove 60 miles and vehicle suffered complete shutdown on freeway. vehicle coasted to a safe stop and called mazda roadside. vehicle would not even turn over. vehicle towed to dealership, ignition coil and pcm were replaced. dealer approved vehicle for 1000 mile return trip. after only 4 hours of driving engine light came on again. exited interstate, parked vehicle and called mazda roadside. vehicle currently under repair. this was two identical failures within 200 miles of use. *ak
