Defect Summary | Mazda is recalling certain model year 2001 through 2006, and 2008, tribute vehicles equipped with 3.0l v6 engines and speed control. inadequate clearance between the engine cover and the speed control cable connector could result in a stuck throttle when the accelerator pedal is fully or almost-fully depressed. this risk exists regardless of whether or not speed control (cruise control) is used.
Consequence Summary | A stuck throttle may result in very high vehicle speeds and make it difficult to stop or slow the vehicle, which could cause a crash, serious injury or death.
Corrective Summary | Mazda will notify owners, and dealers will repair the vehicles by increasing the engine cover clearance, free of charge. the safety recall is expected to begin on, or before, august 6, 2012. remedy parts are expected to be available in mid-august 2012. until then dealers will disconnect the speed control cable as an interim remedy, if parts are not available at the time of an owner's service appointment. owners may contact mazda customer assistance center at 1-800-222-5500, option #6.

Tl* the contact owns a 2005 mazda tribute. the contact stated while driving at approximate speeds of 70 mph, the vehicle began abnormal jerking and the engine would idle very low, almost to a stop. the dealer advised restarting the engine to correct the failure. the failure persisted and the vehicle was taken to the dealer for further diagnostic testing. the dealer replaced the computer, coil springs and performed a tune-up. the vehicle resumed normal operation after repairs. the approximate failure mileage was 80,000 and the current mileage was 84,000.

When accelerating greater than 30 miles per hour the car is so loud you can't hear the radio and its too loud for my son the dealer says there is nothing wrong. i just purchased this car (used) on monday jan 21,08 i have been calling the madza dealership they keep telling me to wait someone will get back to me. i took the car back in for service to have the sound re-evaluated the serviceman at mazda dealership said there was nothing he could do because it was raining and that it may be causing the loud noise. what should i do? it is a 2005 mazda tribute. *tr |
