Over the last year, i started noticing a very strong fuel smell in the garage, when i happened to park the car there after a fill up. recently, i tested it without filling up, just about 2/3 full, and there was no smell. there is gas puddling up somewhere in the sending unit cracked hose or seal, and it takes several days for it all to evaporate, until the next fill up, repeating the experience all over. i've checked online and saw that the 2006 cls were recalled for the same issue, and also the e series cars that share the same fuel system. after calling mercedes, they told me that my car was not in the recall, but what am i supposed to do if it was built the same year as the ones recalled, shares the same parts, and has another thousand owners like me complaining about the problem, as evidenced by the online forum feedback? please help drive m-b to fix this, as i'm worried that i'm driving a potential firebomb that leaks gasoline, and the dealer refuses to get it fixed on their dime unless there's a recall. *tr | |||
