 Brakes failed, brakes light went on pulled over checked the fluid it was empty i called a tow truck and took it to my service station . brake lines were rotted , in order to fix the brake lines they would had to take the body of the car off the chassie to fix them two expensive that way . had them cut the lines that were bad and reroute the lines on the outside of the frame . a yr later same thing happen again the first time the car had 63,000 miles on it . this time the car has 76,000 miles on it .car is now at the shop to see what they can do to fix this problem again . the car is a 1993 grand marquis with about 73,000 miles on it the car was brought new from the dealer and was kept in excellent running condition all these yrs. *tr

 The vehicle was parked and without warning the vehicle caught on fire and burned down the house. the fire department was called to extinguish the fire. the vehicle was towed and was declared totaled by the insurance company. *ak the fire originated on the driver's side of the engine compartment. the consumer mentioned that the he experienced problems with the ignition system, abs system and shifter. there was grinding when the vehicle was stopped and the gear shift would not shift into drive once the vehicle was started. the abs pump, motor relay, brake lamp switch and switch wiring harness were replaced. (there were two purchase dates: 7/16/1996 and 8/09/1996) *sc *jb
 When applying the brakes there is a vibration present, and vehicle stutters to a stop. dealer says vehicle needs new disc brakes. the rotors have been turned once due to hard spots.

 Abs braking system malfunctioned, causing abs system to activate when it was not suppose to, causing extended stopping distance which may result in a crash. please provide further information and vin#. *ak

 Abs: when attempting to apply brakes, brake pedal went very low to floor, brake fluid leaked out, causing decrease in braking ability, consumer does not own anymore this vehicle. *ak

 Was on the road driving 55mph slow down to get on the highway try to stop using brake wouldn't stop put into neutral still wouldn't stop put into park car stop.

 While driving at highway speeds brakes failed due to a corroded brake line. driver was able to stop the vehicle using the emergency brake. *ak the brake pedal offered no resistance, it traveling to the floor. mechanic noticed heavy corrosion on the brake lines and fuel lines leading from the master cylinder all the way back. estimate for complete replacement was $1140. dollars. upon examining the under body of the vehicle the mechanic stated the corrosion was unusually high. he proceeded to replace the rear brake lines , as the front brakes lines weren't so badly corroded which was $740. dollars. as of today, there has been no injuries, crashes and only the rear brake lines were replaced. *ph *nlm

 While the vehicle was in the parking gear, with ignition running, smoke started coming from under the dash by the wiring harness. vehicle was driven to the dealership the next day. vehicle was checked out, and the brake on and off switch was replaced, which kept the vehicle from coming out of park. consumer still experiencing electrical problems. please provide any further details. *ak
