Defect SummaryThe seal material between the fuel filler pipe and fuel tank may not have been fully cured during the molding process which could allow for fuel leakage.
Consequence SummaryFuel leakage could result in a vehicle fire if an ignition source were present.
Corrective SummaryDealers will replace the fuel filler pipe-to-fuel tank seal with a new seal of different material.

 Wh/referral fwd re fuel tank defect technical service bulletin 01-21-14 received for a 1995 mercury grand marquis.*mr consumer noted the center for auto safety identified thirty fire fatalities out of seventy fatal crashes in the 1992-2001 ford crown victoria's, mercury grand marquis and lincoln town car. although ford stated this failure was problems for police cruisers, more fatalities were civilian vehicles with the same gas tank assembly. the consumer went to two local ford dealerships whom refused to perform the service bulletin work on his vehicle even though he wanted to pay. the consumer wanted the work done to make his vehicle safer. *ph *jb

 Fuel system leaks between the filler pipe and the gas tank, causing severe leakage. *ak every time consumer gases up the vehicle and it sat parked, there was a large puddle of gas on the garage floor. consumer's daughter found information on the internet pertaining to 95 grand marquis'. the dealer stated that consumer's vehicle wasn't included in the recall. *ph *nlm

 Fuel tank filler neck leaks between filler neck and seals. a recall has been issued on vehicle's make and model; however this vehicle was not included due to vin #. *ak according to the dealer, recall work was done prior to sale of the vehicle, but the problem still exists due to defective material used in manufacturing. *yh
