Defect SummaryVehicle description: passenger vehicles. these vehicles have jacking instructions which, if followed, could cause the vehicle operator to place the jack on a frame weld when attempting to raise a rear wheel. if the vehicle is jacked up with the jack placed on the frame weld and if the vehicle is free to roll (wheels not blocked or chocked), the jack could yield and the vehicle may drop suddenly.
Consequence SummaryIf this occurs and any portion of the operator's body is under the vehicle, the potential for personal injury exists.
Corrective SummaryOwners will be provided with a revised jack instruction and stowage card and jack warning label, as well as a supplement to the owner guide.

 Tl*the contact owns a 2000 mercury grand marquis. the contact stated that there is no air conditioning filter for the air vents in the vehicle. ford stated that there was no vacuum in the ventilation system in order to filter the air conditioning system. the failure mileage was 46,000 and current mileage was 90,000.

 Dt: the contact had to replace fuses approximately every three to four days. the dealer said it may be the clock spring, but they would have to perform a diagnostic test to confirm the problem. the diagnostic test has not been performed. the contact reported that the condenser went out at approximately 40,000 miles. *ak

 When the vehicle is started, an unusual noise occurs in engine, especially in the morning, then gradually gets louder/more frequent. one day in particular, the vehicle was parked(hot weather), and when the vehicle was started, the noise started again, and was extremely loud/distracting to others. the dealer cannot duplicate, stating that all the models sound this way and is the timing chain. *ak other problems are as followed: radio static/window static-when the ignition is on(may be a loose wire, and when the brakes are applied, it engages the brake light switch. the consumer requests that the problem(s) are fixed before the warranty expires. scc

 The right front tire experienced a blowout while driving on a 2 lane back road at 30 mph. also, the jack broke in half when vehicle was being jacked up to remove the blowout tire. this caused the vehicle to crash down and almost sever the consumer's leg. manufacturer was notified, and requested that the consumer send the jack to there corporate office. *ak

 The vehicles jacking instructions were incorrect and if followed could cause injury to the operator, the recall package 00v-200 was incomplete, instead of receiving a jack warning label consumer received two jack instruction labels. nlm
