 Consumer states that the vehicle has an on going humming/vibration noise since 10 miles to the present mileages, while driving from 20 mph or more. vehicle been to the dealer on six occasions and the problem still reoccurring. feel free to provide any further information. mr

 When driving at highway speeds and a bump is hit steering will shimmy, and vehicle will move in a lateral motion across surface. dealr has been contacted.*ak the manufacturer says all 2000 models experience wheel shimming and is normal. the dealer, however, says it was caused by 16 tires which were too big for the vehicle. the consumer was experiencing difficulty having the manufacturer resolve the shimnming problem. *yh

 Vehicle vibtates while driving. vehicle has been inspected several times by dealer; however , pproblem could not be duplicated. please provide additional information.*ak
 Whenever driving at various speeds vehicle would bounce for no reason. its as if springs/ shocks were not good. had taken vehicle to dealer, and mechanic indicated problem was normal. vehcle was test driven and no problem found.*ak

 While driving 65 mph started to change lanes, and noticed another vehicle in same lane, and swerved back to the right. as soon as she turned wheel to right she lost control of vehicle, it went across 2 lanes of traffic to left, and hit a tractor trailer head-on . airbags did deploy. consumer and passenger sustained minor injuries. consumer stated it felt like vehicle was on ice. prior to this, when driving over a bump, vehicle was hard to control. insurance will send an investigator, vehicle was totalled. *ak consumer stated that the amount of movement she made to return to the other lane was not extreme, however the front of the vehicle spun to the right causing her to strike the side of a flatbed tractor trailer. *slc

 Dt*: the contact stated when the vehicle was taken in for maintenance to replace a vapor management valve, the service dealer noted that both upper and lower ball joints were worn. there were no immediate repairs made to the ball joints.

 While checking the oil noticed that nut on the upper control arm was gone, and bolt was hanging down. also, when backing up would hear a clicking noise. defect corrected by dealer. *ak *ml

 While driving the consumers wife loss control of the steering wheel and hit the rails on both sides. the vehicle headed into a ditch on the left side, the consumer yanked the wheel to send the vehicle straight but instead the went across two lanes and slammed into the median. the dealer was notified. the air bags did not deploy. at the time of the accident, the consumer was working the electronic passenger seat controls and the consumer wanted to know if there was any connection. *ak *scc the mechanic claimed the ball joint failure caused the accident, the ball joint had no grease. *jb

 2000 mercury marquis has a defective steering gear box. *mr the problem was due to a defective bushing in the steering gear box that put a binding motion on the steering mechanism. the binding action was overridden by power assist on turns, but necessitated that the power assist be used to complete the return after the turn was completed. *sc

 While driving vehicle made a very loud noise. took vehicle to the dealer and got no satisfaction. took it to another dealer, and was told that rear end bearings had to be replaced due to deterioration. *ak

 Rumbling at 60 mph. dealer confirms symptom with unknown cause. manf. confirms symptom with unknown repair. both say vehicle is safe to drive. question: if cause is unknown, how can i be sure vehicle is safe to drive?
