2000 mercury grand marquis lunges forward (rpm increase @1000 and loud growl from engine compartment) when approaching a stop light and/or already stopped at a light. everything returns to normal when i accelerate again, until the next light. this is an intermittent problem but very annoying. there have been no incidents from this since i now know to expect it, but i could certainly see an accident occurring as a result of this defect. i am reentering this as i think i marked the incorrect year make on my previous submission. it is actually a 2000
