While driving at dusk on my way home (with my 5 year old little girl!), my headlights shut off without warning! we were fortunate that several drivers in the oncoming lane were concerned and conscientious and flashed their high beams to signal that something was wrong. deductively, i ruled out my lights being off because the switch was on. that was until the traffic light turned red and i saw no reflection on the back of the car in front of me! i flipped the switch off then back on again to see if it was a bad connection in the switch or perhaps it was between positions and would possibly work if i repositioned it. no good! ugh, the light went green! i nervously pulled at the bright light selector to see if they worked! just in time to barely miss the suv that obviously did not see us!!! i did not let it go untill we were safe at home!!! phew!!! i guess now would be the time to change my pants!

Tl*the contact owns a 2003 mercury grand marquis. the contact noticed paint chipping on the rear passenger side of the vehicle. she took the vehicle to the dealer and was informed that the roof was also chipping. the contact noticed that in certain weather conditions the paint would chip more frequently and in larger portions. the manufacturer admitted that this failure was a result of manufacturing, and assumed responsibility for half of the damages to the vehicle. the vehicle has not yet been repaired. the failure mileage was 41,000 and current mileage was 41,025.

The driver door sticks when opened, and have to do so two times, with both hands to get out. (passenger door also) the plastic handle makes it hard and will cut your hand. the triple tract seal acts as if it were crazy glue. *jb scc

Inherent safety design of the trunk lid: i got a gash in my forehead as i was opening the trunk lid and the lower edge of the license plate cut into my scalp just below the hair line. i believe that the trunk lid dropped as i leaned into the trunk to retrieve my belongings from the trunk. i bled profusely.*ak

Dt*: the contact stated the splash guard panel underneath the vehicle that protects the radiator, power steering, and vacuum hoses, is very low to the ground and can be struck by objects in the roadway. although a failure did not occur, the vehicle was seen by a dealer for inspection. the dealer was unable to duplicate the problem. . splash guard always made contact with the bumper stop on parking lot, when a car pulled out the splashing guard made contact with it, making a terrible noise, the panel became more warped each time that it happened. because it covered vital engine and steering parts, this panel should be straight and more secure. *ak
