| I was driving along and the dashboard front airbag light came on and a beeping sound began. since my vehicle is a mercury and there are no mercury dealers now, i called the nearest ford dealership. they say that when the light is flashing it means my airbag is not working. if i bring the vehicle in, they will diagnose it for $49 and then tell me how much it will cost to fix it. they said there is no recall on this issue. i checked the internet and found several automotive forums that discuss this issue. apparently it has been a topic of discussion since at least 2008. i'm concerned for my safety and will make arrangements to have the situation accessed and then fixed. however in today's economy, many people will just let the light continue to be lit and do nothing. this means that their airbags will be inoperable. i think either nhtsa or ford should consider a recall on this. | |||
