2007 mercury grand marquis and 2007 ford crown victoria owner manuals incorrectly state that the 8th character of the vin # must be a 2 for the car to have a flex fuel engine capable of using e-85. this is incorrect. the 8th character must be a v for the car to have the flex fuel engine. this will be very misleading for consumers. the cover on the fuel tank lid says ethanol or unleaded gasoline only. most consumers will not know this means they can use e-85 as e-85 is not mentioned on the gas cap or cover.

2007 mercury grand marquis. consumer states defect with computer/powertrain control module *tgw the consumer stated when his wife attempted to apply the brake on two separate occasions, the vehicle failed to reduce its speed. consequently, his wife went through the red light. the consumer took the vehicle to the dealer for an inspection. the dealer asked the consumer did the vehicle have adjustable pedals and when the consumer stated it did, the dealer suggested that maybe his wife put her foot on both pedals simultaneously. the consumer also stated there was message on the instrument panel in french. when he looked at the owners manual, it meant change oil. the consumer believed the message in french, instead of english effected the computer system.*jb
