Interior door handles have a tendency to snap, with no indication that they are weak or fragile. this has happened to me personally twice and to others many time, according to online forums for this vehicle. there is no available repair beyond replacement of the door handles. obviously, in an accident this would limit one's ability to safely exit the vehicle.

Passenger inside door handle broke and needed to be replaced. cd player broke and i am the only one who uses the car. the emissions light came on and a faulty thermostat needed to be replaced....all to the tune of hundreds of dollars. i purchased the extra protection insurance but of course none of this was covered. never would buy a mercury again.

Tl-the contact owns a 2006 mercury milan. the contact stated that she was unable to lock the driver side door with the remote but would not unlock; she had to lock it manually. in september 2010, the passenger side door would not lock and the passenger could not open the door using the handle to get out. she was able to open it from the outside. the vehicle was taken to an authorized dealership where the contact was informed that the handles and door locks needed to be replaced. the contact called the manufacturer offered to assist with 10% of the repair costs. the current mileage was approximately 51,000. the failure mileage was approximately 45,000-bk

The key to my mercury milan will not come out of the ignition. i take very good care of my cars, and one day i was simply unable to get the key out after parking. i called my husband, and upon his suggestion i tried turning the key on and off (gently), shifting in and out of park, and turning the steering wheel, etc., but to no success. as the locking mechanism (fob) is actually on the key, i had no way of locking the vehicle which is a big safety issue on a university campus at night. the dealership is not open yet, but i will take it in on monday. until then, i am left with a car that cannot be locked without an extra key, and if someone breaks into my vehicle they need only to turn the key and drive away. this is enormously unnerving to me and my family. *tr
