Unsecured mats may interfere with accelerator pedal return to idle.a heel blocker in the floor pan provides a platform that may lift an unsecured mat into contact with the pedal.ford introduced new pedals as a running change early in model year (my) 2010 vehicles.analysis of complaints received by odi and ford show elevated rates of pedal entrapment incidents in my 2008 through early 2010 production vehicles.incidents typically occur following hard pedal applications to pass slower traffic or when merging into faster traffic.drivers allege continued high engine power after releasing the accelerator pedal and difficulty braking, including reports that the incident was controlled by shifting to neutral or turning the engine off.drivers and service technicians reference observing evidence of mat interference or note unsecured ford or aftermarket all weather floor mats in post-incident inspections.this investigation has been upgraded to an engineering analysis on my 2008 through early-2010 vehicles (produced through september 2009) to further assess the scope, frequency and safety consequences of the alleged defect.the voqs associated with the opening of this engineering analysis are:10479693, 10415911, 10379562, 10372674, 10345830, 10342572, 10339330, 10335336, 10334211, 10332233, 10331160, 10329659, 10327597, 10320011, 10232027, 10214131

VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL

While operating the vehicle under normal conditions the vehicle would stall out and lose power resulting in rapid decrease in speed and create unsafe driving situations. car would still be running but pressing the gas would not result in acceleration. turning vehicle off and restarting again would sometimes remedy problem but problem increased in frequency and severity, even happening to my wife while driving the vehicle on the highway at speeds in excess of 60+ mph traveling through bridge/tunnel system in local area.

I was driving on the freeway at 65 mph and the car seemed to stall. i lost power and coasted to a stop. i could push the accelerator to the floor and the car had enough power to crawl forward. i turned the key off and that cleared the problem. however the problem came back a few days later. again i turned the key off and the problem cleared. after this happened a second time i took the car to a friend who owns a mechanics shop. he hooked up the car to his computer and he retrieved a code for the problem. after recieving the code i called the dealer i bought the car from and the service department told me the code was for the throttle body. the dealer told me ford would not cover the replacement of this part. about a week after the initial occurrance i lost power again and i turned the key off, the problem cleared but only long enough to drive another mile and it happened again and again and again. luckly i was in town and i found the closest mechanics shop to take it too.

I would like to know why nobody has done anything about this throttle body problem. if you look online and you will see how many complaints there are about the same problem. i would like this to be on the recall list so all of the ones that own this car will not have to pay anywhere from 300-500 to get it fixed. this is a safety problem i was driving on i295 going about 6mph and i lost all throttle control , i'm in the far left lane and had no where to go so i'm coasting to the right shoulder and all most got hit 4 times. i would say this is a really important safety problem. i read about 35 of the same problems online and i haven't seen anyone from your company or ford comment on this are they waiting for someone to get killed before anything gets done to fix this. i will be calling monday morning to see what you or ford will do about this problem if nothin is done i will contact a lawyer and the news media. we were almost killed and something needs to get done at fords cost not the people who thought they had a safe car. *tr

I was driving approximately 50 mph. the car began to slow down, and it jerked and hesitated and began to decelerate as it continued the jerking and hesitation. the car would not respond to the accelerator at all. continued to jerk and slow down and the engine and transmission were not functioning properly. i pulled in to a gas station and stopped the car. *tr

I was first in line at a red light on a 2-lane highway. when the light turned green, i accelerated and halfway through the intersection the car lurched and lost power. the car didn't die but there was no response in the gas pedal and a wrench symbol appeared in the dash. i made it through the intersection and to the shoulder at idle speed (with a line of cars behind me). i put the car in park and turned it off for a minute. it restarted ok, the wrench was gone and the car ran fine. i considered it a fluke until a week later when the same thing happened, except that i was traveling at 70 mph in the inside lane of the same highway. luckily there was room to change lanes while decelerating and i pulled to the shoulder. again, it restarted fine after i turned it off, and the wrench was gone. i took the car for service at a ford dealer because losing power in traffic is a very dangerous situation and who knows when and where it might happen again. the tech found a problem with the throttle body and replaced it at a cost of about $350 parts/labor. of course, we are just outside of the warranty period at 41,000 miles.

I was driving down the freeway at 65 mph, when the check engine and transmission light came on and the car immediately started to decelerate and i was not to give the car gas to get out of the way of moving traffic. after turning the car off and turning the car on again, the car seemed to have reset itself and the car started working properly again. a couple of months later, now at 41000 miles, the car is having this problem more frequently and is unsafe to drive. i took the car to a dealership to see what was wrong with the car when they stated to me that the throttle body kept getting stuck closed. i feel this should be looked into further as a problem with the throttle body should not be going out for a car that is still practically brand new.

I have a 2010 mercury milan this car has been in the shop many times the transmission was slipping it has left me in the middle of an intersection and the last straw was 3 weeks ago when the transmission kicked in when i was turning it poped my neck and i hit a curb. i do not feel safe in the car. one time the gas peddle stuck and i had to reach down and pull out my floor mat. also trim parts just fall off of this thing.
