Tl*the contact owns a 2005 mercury monterey. the contact stated that the vehicle completely shut down several times while driving between 10 and 45 mph. there was no power in the vehicle when the failure occurred. occasionally, the vehicle would restart on its own and other times he had to wait a few minutes before it would start. on two occasions the vehicle had to be towed. there were no warning lights prior to the failure. he took the vehicle to the dealer four times and was told that they could not retrieve any codes to pinpoint the failure. many components (sensor computer chips, engine detox and all the spark plugs) were replaced but none repaired the failure. he called the manufacturer and received no response to-date. the vehicle identification number was not available at the time of the complaint. the current mileage was 70,162. the failure mileage was approximately 68,000.

My 2005 mercury monterey van just stalled without warning on a busy highway. no steering or power brakes worked well.took it to dealer and they replace the cam crank shaft. drove it 2-3 weeks and it happened again. took it to my mechanic and the codes said the same thing as at the dealer.they fixed it again. drove it 2 months and did the same thing. sat at the mechanics yard over weekend and cleared the codes. couldn't find anything wrong. today with my grandson it happened again. don't know what to do. this van has 47,000 miles and is very unreliable. i bought it used so warranty is over. seems as i read how many have had this same thing happen there should be some kind of recall or honor by the ford company. this could end deadly in alot of traffic. just wonder if we have to wait until someone is killed to do something. *tr
