Consequence SummaryFuel leakage in the presence of an ignition source can result in a fire.
Corrective SummaryDealers will replace the vent hose.

The fuel overflow hose broke on my 1993 mercury villager. this caused a fuel leak and a puddle of raw gas in my attached garage. luckily, we noted it and move the vehicle outside and cleaned the fuel up. the mechanic stated that he had replaced about 8 of these hoses in the past couple of years, 3 this year alone. this is a very dangerous condition.

Consumer was at gas station putting gasoline inside of tank and gasoline was leaking from underneath of vehicle. filler hose cracked and was leaking. mechanic at the repair shop told comnsumer that gasoline tank was leaking from seams in addition to leaking from filler hose. *ak fuel tank and vent hose were replaced. *slc
 1. fuel filler hose. when filling up the fuel tank to a full condition, fuel is seen to leak from the area above the leaf spring assembly on the left side of the vehicle. once the level of gasoline in the fuel tank appears to drop to a certain level, the odor of gasoline is still present, especially on hot days. if tank is not filled to capacity, the leak is not present but the odor is. 2. motorized shoulder seat belt. the motorized seat belt assembly on both front seats make a loud noise and rattle when in motion. it appears that the mechanism is loose when it travels back and forth on the door track. *ak

When filling gas, gas would start to leak just before the pump automatic shuts off. if stop filling about 1 gallon short of full, no leak occurs. however, if park car at an incline, gas would leak indicating that fuel filler hose has crack at top. this is similar to an earlier recall for vehicles manufactured on an earlier date. i just noticed this so i do not know whether the failure is in existence since date one of my purchase. i strongly feel that there should be a wider recall for this vehicle as a fire may result from this.
