2001 galant es developed problems with the transmission.*mr the automatic transmission began slipping in and out of gear, which resulted in the consumer having the vehicle towed. the consumer had to take the vehicle back to dealer on several occasions because of the recurring transmission problem. it was determined the transmission needed to be replaced under the manufacturers warranty. the consumer stated the replacement transmission is now slipping, however the dealer could not duplicate the problem. the engine light illuminated and once again it was determined to be the transmission, even though the dealer claimed they could not duplicate the problem. the transmission was replaced for the second time. on june 2, 2005 the transmission began slipping in and out of gear again and the consumer noticed white smoke emitting from the tail pipe, moments later the vehicle was on fire. after inspecting the vehicle, it was determined there was a transmission fluid leak from a line which led from the transmission to the lower part of the radiator and was used as a cooler line. *jb | |||
