SUSPENSION - FRONT - WHEEL BEARING
02/28/2006109001
 (1) started hearing noises from both front wheel hub assembly's (front wheel bearings) (2) took it to my local firestone service station where they identified the problem - they told me it would get worse if i kept driving it, but at the time i could not afford $312/per bearing plus labor = over $800 in repairs. i drove the car 2 more days and the wheel bearings locked up on me while driving - the car almost came to a sudden stop, veered off to the left of the road... (3) i found the parts cheaper on the internet ($233/per hub) and had a local mechanic install them and saved hundreds. **while searching for the parts, i found several other bulletins, notices even on the nhtsa website, and plenty of unhappy 2001 montero customers that have had to spend nearly $1,000 to replace both hub assembly's **i think this is ridiculous that these hubs are going bad for such a new vehicle... why isn't this being recalled?????
