When i am driving my car smells alot like gas fumes it is overwhelming for my children,i called the dealership because we have inspected the car really well on all fuel lines and found no leaks, the dealer said that my car was not included in the recall,i have seen this happen to many other people on the internet, they talk about the same fumes smell but how the manufacturer will not fix the problem because of the vin number not matching the one on the recall i think this one should also be on the list, cause now that it is summer it really worries me to have all the fumes in the car in the heat when i am driving, and this is a constant very strong smell,i am afraid the car may blow up or something.this has gone on every day, since i have had this car i got it about a month ago.

Many vehicles of this same model year were recalled for a gas smell/ fire hazard caused by an improperly installed fuel tank gasket. my car does not have a matching vin so the dealer says i am not covered. if it were a defective part i could understand them being able to classify my car as having passed. however, since this was a procedure, i do not think that with the # of complaints similar to mine that they have covered all the cars they should have. is mitsubishi not notorious for letting the volume of complaints escalate to unreasonable amounts prior to acting?? *jb

For the past two days my car has been missing(the engine not idling as normal). i took it to a mechanic who check the engine. he said that the number 2 cylinder is not firing properly. he change the spark plugs and the problem is still persisting. he said that he switch the number 2 and 4 injectors and he discovered that the injectors are working but their seem to be a problem associated with the electronic aspect of the number 2 injector. i would like to find out how best to resolve this problem. their is also a problem with the fuse box located uder hood. some of the fuses are loose and their support is loose. the coding on the fuse box has been partialy erase. i really love my car and i need some assistance. dt

At times the i can smell fuel fumes inside/outside of the car. the is no leakage, only the fumes are escaping the fuel tank. there was a recall on the 1995 mitsubishe eclipse gs 1995 (same as mine) for this same problem. nhtsa campaign number: 96v158000. and nhtsa campaign number: 96v158001. the fuel tank gaskets for the fuel pump and/or gauge unit gasket could have been incorrectly installed allowing fuel or fumes to escape. if an ignition source were present, the fuel leakage could result in a fire. but when i contacted the mitsubshi dealer they refuse to fix the problem as they say my car's vin number does not show this recall.*ak
