Defect SummaryMitsubishi is recalling 120,000 my 2004-2006 endeavor passenger vehicles. during vehicle use, the ignition key interlock cable (which is a component of the interlock system) may allow the interlocking cam to fall forward and allow the ignition key to be removed from the ignition switch when the gearshift mechanism is not in the park position.
Consequence SummaryIf the driver does not shift to park before removing the key and fails to engage the parking brake, the vehicle could roll and a crash could occur.
Corrective SummaryDealers will inspect and correct these vehicles for the reported condition. the recall will begin on july 7, 2008. owners may contact mitsubishi at 1-888-648-7820.

Defect SummaryMitsubishi is recalling certain model year 2006-2008 endeavor with manual air conditioning. due to an incorrect heater (hvac) controller signal, the air flow from the air vents may randomly change direction and/or the temperature may briefly cycle between hot and cold.
Consequence SummaryThis condition could affect defroster performance, resulting in poor windshield visibility and potentially cause a crash.
Corrective SummaryDealers will inspect for damage and if necessary repair the mode door shaft free of charge. the safety recall began on december 7, 2010. owners may contact mitsubishi at 1-800-222-0037.

Defect SummaryMitsubishi is recalling 45,988 my 2005-2007 endeavor, galant, eclipse coupe, and my 2007 eclipse spyder vehicles. the bracket that is the attachment point for the left rear fuel tank mounting strap may have been improperly formed during a metal stamping process. the process may have caused the metal to have a split in the area where the bolt that holds one of the two fuel tank straps to the underside of the vehicle is located. in the event the fuel tank is full and the vehicle is subject to a severe collision, the bracket may break and allow the fuel tank to drop down, possibly causing a fuel leak.
Consequence SummaryFuel leakage in the presence of an ignition source could result in a fire.
Corrective SummaryDealers will inspect to see if the left rear fuel tank strap mounting bracket has splitting beyond a specific limit. vehicles with moderate to severe splitting will be repaired using a reinforcement cap, a special structural adhesive, and a rivet to reinforce the fuel tank mounting bracket. the recall began on september 20, 2008. owners may contact mitsubishi at 1-800-222-0037.

The subject vehicle ignition-park interlock and shift lock (brake-shift interlock) systems are mechanically actuated.the systems utilize two cable assemblies that connect to a plastic housing mounted to the shift lever mechanism.within the housing is a lever (interlock lever) that the ignition-park interlock cable connects to.when the interlock lever is positioned in its rearward travel range, the ignition key removal is prevented; when the lever is positioned in its forward position, key removal is allowed.according to mitsubishi, the ignition key interlock cable may allow the interlock lever to fall forward during vehicle use.in this state the ignition key can be removed from the ignition switch when the gearshift mechanism is not in the park position.if the driver does not shift to park before removing the key and fails to engage the parking brake, the vehicle could roll and a crash could occur.most of the reported crash incidents were minor in nature involving unoccupied vehicles rolling from a parked condition and striking other vehicles or objects.the single injury incident occurred when the operator parked the vehicle, exited, and was subsequently struck by the vehicle as it rolled away.the type and severity of the injuries were not described.in a letter dated march 21, 2008, mitsubishi advised nhtsa that it will conduct a safety recall to address this condition (see www.safercar.gov, recall action 08v-139 for further details); remedy details and timing are to be determined.accordingly the investigation is closed.

The initial issue is the seat belts in the rear fail to return and/or do not come out. the more recent issue is the rear tailgate which is now failing to open unless done mechanically by climbing over back seat and attempting to access switch internally. we are being told by our mechanic that it is an issue with the internal computer

I have a 2006 mitsubishi endeavor. two months ago the car turned off while i was driving down the street. there were no warning lights to indicate there was a problem. upon inspection it was discovered that my timing belt had broken. mitsubishi refused to honor the warranty because they said that the belt broke due to the oil shield being moved during an oil change. the oil shield is next to the timing belt and it rubbed against it causing the belt to break. i have made complaints with the california dept of consumer affairs and with the mitsubishi organization. the situation is still under investigation, but i have a wonderful auto insurance service (automobile club of southern calif aaa) and they are repairing my car and investigating to determine who is really at fault and they are going to recover their funds from them. it was very disheartening to know that i did not do anything for this to happen, yet mistubishi refused to honor a warranty on a car that i had only had for 7 months and that only had 28000 miles on it. needless to say i will be trading it in as soon as i get it back and will never buy another mitsubishi vehicle.*jb

Tl*the contact owns a 2006 mitsubishi endeavor. immediately after parking, the vehicle rolled back very quickly. the contact attempted to get back in the vehicle; however, it was traveling too fast. the vehicle struck a parked vehicle. when the vehicle finally stopped, she noticed that the gear was still in drive. she believes this to be a safety issue because she should not have been able to remove the key from the ignition without the vehicle being placed in the park position. the speed was unknown. the current and failure mileages were 32,000.

I own a 2006 mitsubishi endeavor which was purchased 2 months ago. on june 1st i was running an errand, got out of my vehicle ran into the mall only to come out 5 minutes later to find my car had rolled into the back of a 1994 corvette. when approached by the corvette owner he proceeded to tell me i left my car in drive. i responded by saying, no, i have my keys in my hand, that's not possible. when i looked at the gearshift it was in drive. i know that this is partically my fault, however, i should have never been able to take my key out of the iginition without in being in park. i did some research and found that the 2007 eclipse was recalled for this same problem. when i approached mitsubishi in calif about this i was told that's what i have insurance for and to take it to the local dealership to prove there was a defect - even though i had photos - upon taking it to the local dealship - i was told they couldn't help me since i didn't purchase my vehicle with them. the dealership also told me it's possible my vehicle was wrecked - i ran a carfaxs report proving otherwise. i have yet to hear back from mitsubishi corporate and am looking into consulting an attorney. all i want is my vehicle fixed - all the dealership has to do is check the ignition interlock cable and replace it if necessary and they won't even consider that. instead they want to take my car apart to see if it was previously wrecked before they will consider fixing anything- again my vehicle wasn't wrecked. so now when i park i make sure my e brake is on and i check to see if i can remove my key and 9 out of 10 times i can while my car is still in drive. so if anyone out there can offer any information to help me proceed i would greatly appreciate it.
