On sept. 23, 2008, i was waiting at a traffic light prior to getting on the freeway when my driver's door window shattered. the sound was as if it was hit by a large rock or tire iron. it seems the stress on the glass came from a failed window regulator. during the attempt to replace the window it was discovered that a window regulator cable had jumped/slipped off its plastic tracking roller. according to the auto glass repair tech, this created a tremendous amount of pressure and stress on the glass causing it to shatter. he told me i would have to purchase a new window regulator, before the window could be replaced. the item is not repairable according to the tech and dealership parts personnel. i hate to imagine what could have occurred if the vehicle was moving at 55 to 60 mph when the window shattered. it was sudden, shocking, and could have very well caused an accident or other major property damage. the glass did not fall out of place until the vehicle started moving. when the glass started falling most of it fell inside the vehicle. falling glass caused some small nicks on the driver door. i was fortunate not to get glass in my face or eyes. some glass did get in my clothing and on my body. i still have the part for inspection. i have not contacted mitsubishi motors yet. workers at the san bernardino dealership would not comment on the number of replacement or if they were aware of the problem. *tr

Tl*the contact owns a 2004 mitsubishi galant. while driving at an unknown speed, the vehicle would sporadically slip into the neutral gear. the failure increased the risk of an injury. the contact took the vehicle to the dealer and they stated that the core line pressure in the transmission failed. the entire transmission needed to be replaced at the cost of $5,200. she is in the process of having the vehicle repaired. the manufacturer stated that because her vehicle exceeded its warranty, they would not assume any financial responsibility. the failure and current mileages were 137,000. updated 10/28/08 *bf the consumer stated the vehicle stalled, there were heating and air problems, all the buttons stopped working, both headlights had to be replaced. updated 10/29/08. *jb

I own an '04 mitsubishi galant and last october the heater stopped working for about 3 weeks and then suddenly started working again. i didn't turn the heater off for the rest of the winter in fear that it may die, again. once again, this spring, as soon as i turned the heater off and then turned it back on, it wasn't working. i left the heater on starting the beginning of september in hopes that it would just start working on it's own, again. it's almost november and that hasn't happened. i called the local dealership to finally have it fixed correctly and the service guy told me that happens often in this model. this morning i decided to do a search on this little bit of knowledge and i have found a ton of complaints about the exact same thing. i am, obviously, still getting the repair done on monday (oct 27) but i am curious if you have encountered alot of complaints about this and if there are plans in the near future on a recall for this obvious defect. *tr
