| Defect Summary | Mitsubishi is recalling 45,988 my 2005-2007 endeavor, galant, eclipse coupe, and my 2007 eclipse spyder vehicles. the bracket that is the attachment point for the left rear fuel tank mounting strap may have been improperly formed during a metal stamping process. the process may have caused the metal to have a split in the area where the bolt that holds one of the two fuel tank straps to the underside of the vehicle is located. in the event the fuel tank is full and the vehicle is subject to a severe collision, the bracket may break and allow the fuel tank to drop down, possibly causing a fuel leak. | |||||||||||||||

| Corrective Summary | Dealers will inspect to see if the left rear fuel tank strap mounting bracket has splitting beyond a specific limit. vehicles with moderate to severe splitting will be repaired using a reinforcement cap, a special structural adhesive, and a rivet to reinforce the fuel tank mounting bracket. the recall began on september 20, 2008. owners may contact mitsubishi at 1-800-222-0037. | |||||||||||||||

| I recently purchased a vehicle from a local dealership, i later found out that the airbag system has been disabled. the dealer showed me a fake carfax and repeatedly, infront of three different people, told me the vehicle was never in an accident. i have researched and found that a dealer must have me sign something stating the airbag system has be disabled.i tried many times to return vehicle but they refuse. i have turned it into the attorney general and am waiting a response. they suggested i also report it to the nhtsa. *tr | |||

| I purchased my 2007 mitsubishi galant on april 28, 2007. after about 7000 miles, my brakes started pulsating. i took a day off work to return to the dealer and have them fix this problem. the service department decided to just re-surface the rotors and send me on my way. about 7,000 miles later it happened again... so back to the dealership i went again and once again, they decided to resurface my rotors.. now of coarse at 22,000 miles on my vehicle, my break light has been coming on with the pulsation back and my brake pedal now continues to move toward the floor when at a complete stop. so back to the dealership again only to be told that my master cylinder & brake booster are leaking and they will replace the faulty parts but that my rotors are too low to resurface again and that i will have to spend about $400.00 out of my own pocket to replace them...there is obviously a problem with this brake system and i believe the rotors should have been replaced under warranty the first time or even the second time the pulsating happened. *tr | |||

| Tl*the contact owns a 2007 mitsubishi galant. the vehicle has goodyear eagle rsa tires, size p235/45r/18. the contact noticed that the sidewall was cracked halfway around the front driver side tire. the vehicle was taken to the goodyear dealer and they stated that they would replace the defective tire. the mechanic stated that based on the tread wear, the contact would be responsible for the price difference of the tire. she was displeased to discover that she would have to pay for anything. in addition, she felt that the remaining tires should be replaced at no cost due to the vehicle's riding performance. the defective tire has not yet been replaced. the vin and dot number were unknown. the current and failure mileages were 20,100. | |||
