| As the car was sitting in the driveway in the middle of the night, the horn started going off w/out any operator in the car. the car remained locked and no one was around. had to remove the fuse to the horn, however, upon putting the fuse back in the horn continues to go off randomly in the middle of the night in a continuous honk as if someone is laying on the horn. *tr | |||

| 1) event leading to the failure is unknown. 2) the alram system goes off for no reason at all times of day or night. frequency is from minutes to several hours. the horn honks and lights flash until the alarm is reset or until the battery dies. 3) fuses removed but alram still operates. horns disconnected but lights still flash. the safety issue is that there is no way to turn off the alarm or disable the alarm without also turning off the horn. reportedly, inorder to fix the broblem a switch behind the air bag must be replaced which also requires replacing the airbag. replacing the airbag is potentially dangerous and over $1000. there is no way to turn off the alarm in a safe manner. consumers should be able to totally disarm or turn off the alarm system simply and safely. | |||

| Tl-the contact owns a 2001 mitsubishi montero. the vehicle was parked and shut off for approximately 8 hours when he began to hear the horn sound. in order to stop the horn from sounding he had to disconnect the fuse for the horn. the failure has since recurred intermittently during cold weather. the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where they were unable to diagnose the failure. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure mileage was 100,000 and the current mileage was 130,000. sm. | |||

| Montero under 50,000 miles. have to replace compressor, alignment bars for sun roof, and brakes. cost $2700 with labor. have owned the vehicle for 4 months. no warranty left. montero has to be jumped to turn on, bucks with defrost on, no air, no radio, and brakes are bad. dealer will not help with cost. *nm | |||

| At 35000, the trunk door latch mechanism is broken. at 57000 miles check engine light lit, caused by spark plugs or spark plug wires open. replace all plugs and wires at dealership, cost $300.not covered by warranty. at 77000 miles, check engine light lit, dealership replaced catalytic converter under warranty but i pay for the oxygen sensor plus labor that goes with the catalyst.old parts not available. car driven about 3 miles home from dealeship after replacing the cat. converter, the check engine light lit again. dealership checked and said another oxygen sensor is bad. total 4 oxygen sensors in the system. cost $230 to replace one sensor. i could not believe that these sensors will go bad at the same time. is that a coinsidence or manufacturer parts defects???*ak | |||

| The car has been given me problem since i bought the car. the car stall son me when i turn left or right and the brake light turns on. vehicle creeps forward when brake peedle is on. i have taken the car 4 times to the shop . dealer has already changed the parts but it still has the same problems. i have tried with the dealer and they give me the run around. please let me know who i need to contact. thanks stephanie silva. *ak | |||
