In june 2010, while on my way to church annual conference, my right rear brake overheated and melted the abs snesor. i called for roadside assistance and he found the problem, got the brake released and i finished my trip with no porblems. then in august 2010, while on my way to paintsville kentucky , my left front brake overheated. i was able to get stopped before the sensor melted and put a fan on the brake area and cooled it off. it was then free and i was able to continue on my trip with no additional problems. when i contacted workhorse about the problem they said my unit was not in the recall for the same problem.

Vehicle involved is a 2002 monaco knight motorhome originally equipped with bosch zops air over hydraulic disc brakes. all four brake calipers were repaired with bosch zoh-t anchor plate repair kits under recall campaign no. 02v278000 in 2004. in july 2009 the left rear brake became severely overheated causing transfer of brake pad material to the rotor and causing the abs sensor to melt and fall loose from the caliper. repair was made by replacing the left rear caliper, replacing both left and right brake pads, turning the left brake rotor and replacing the abs sensor. *tr

Thermal brake failure on us hwy 19 west of burnsville, nc. on 22 sept. 2008. the right front caliper overheated and caused a burned brake smell, strong pull of the steering wheel to the right, and a resultant abs sensor failure. the piston failed to retract causing the brake pads to drag on the rotor resulting a heat build up, smoke billowed from the wheel well and the rotor glowed red. this is my first failure. however, several fellow owners have reported similar brake failure. a 2004 recall replaced some bake parts. i don't feel comfortable that this type of failure will not happen again! i am seriously considering having the four calipers replaced at an estimated cost of $1250. after attending seminars, speaking with other owners, and several technicians, i believe monaco continues to have brake problems with motor homes that have bosch brake calipers installed. *tr
