| Defect Summary | New flyer is recalling certain model year 2005-2010 heavy duty transit buses. the three retaining bolts for the output flange on the ise propulsion system are subject to fatigue failure. failure of the three bolts retaining the output flange to the combination gear box on the ise propulsion system could result in a separation of a portion of the driveshaft, with the output flange attached, from the vehicle. | |||||||||||||||

| Driveshaft attachment failure allowing the driveshaft to penetrate the floor of the bus, a forty foot hybrid gasoline / electric transit bus. the shaft failure was due to broken bolts at the attachment of the shaft to the flange of the combining gearbox flange to output shaft. since the failure in nov. 2010, the subject fleet of buses (85) have been inspected and the bolts replaced. reoccurrence of bolt failures is being addressed via recall # r11-017, campaign # 11v407000. | |||
