Tl*the contact owns a 1999 nissan altima. the contact stated that the check engine soon light illuminated and the vehicle would only accept half to three quarters of a tank of fuel. the mechanic stated that the fuel filter tube was rusted and would not allow the fuel tank to be filled, without fuel escaping from the tank. the contact stated that there was a safety recall on the same component of other nissan vehicles except his, even though it was experiencing the same failure. the current mileage was 80,000 and failure mileage was 75,000. *updated 12/27/07 *lj
FUEL SYSTEM, OTHER - STORAGE - TANK ASSEMBLY - FILLING/CHARGING
05/01/2003695001
Fuel filler problem: the vehicle (1999 nissan altima) will only take a small amount of fuel at a time (length of filler neck) and then pump shuts off as the fuel overflows and drains into tank. it is also impossible to completely fill the tank; it only wants to holds approximately 3/4 of its capacity. this is not only annoying, but a safety concern because fuel spills onto the vehicle and ground since there is no fuel filler butterfly valve at the top of the neck.*ak
