 I would like to know how the nhtsa and nissan can ignore my complaints and calls that myself and my husband have made regarding my faulty airbags and my seat belts. i was going 45 miles per hour when i struck another vehicle that pulled out in front of me. my seat belts along with my 2 children that were in the car with me at the time didn't lock for them either. my airbags didn't deploy. we suffered from medical issues because of this. my car has been totaled because of the severity of the damages. i would like to know how nissan nor anyone else for this matter will take responsibility for faulty equipment. i'm thinking its time that i might have to take this matter to the media and also the better business bureau. i had put my trust in these manufactures that have failed to protect us as they said they would. yet when it comes down to it they really don't care. can anyone give any other advice

 My wife was driving at 45mph when a expedition made an illegal left turn in front of her causing an accident. the front of her nissan altima was crushed in with moderate damage according to the police report. her airbags did not deploy nor did the seatbelts lock. my wife sustained whip lash, and bruising on her chest from hitting the steering wheel. she also had both knees hit the front dash board and sustained injuries. my daughter sitting in the front passenger had sprained rists from putting her hands out onto the dash trying to stop from hitting the dash/windshield. my son sitting in the left rear passenger seat had sprianed rists and a sprained shoulder from hitting the front driver seat. spoke to nissan and had the vehicle inspected by their engineers, with information downloaded from the computer and photographs taken. nissan had responded, that the vehcile operated under their standards and no further issues. i can't belive that a vehicle doing 45 mph with moderate front end damage hit an expedtion and the airbags/seatbelts failed to work. however nissan feels that the vehicle performed up to their standards. this matter needs to be further investigated............

 Beginning in december 2011 i noticed that the plastic on the buckles where the seat belt connects was discolored and starting to crack. i also had issues with the driver's seat belt not retracting correctly and one rear seatbelt fraying.this prompted me to call nissan at their 1-800 number and received a file number. i was told to take this number to a dealership to have the car inspected. i did this at the earliest possible time since it it law that i wear my seatbelt and this is a safety system of the car. i went in to have it looked at on jan 6, 2012. the dealership, frank fletcher nissan in joplin, mo was nice but stated they saw the issue with the seatbelt retracting and other issues with the belts, but could not replace them till they failed completely due to what nissan had stated. i had no choice but to leave with the issue not fixed and was told to call nissan to voice my complaint. i used my file number and was assigned a regional specialist. she worked with me until she found out that i was taking my car to a dealer not in her region. at that time i was assigned a new specialist and have not heard back from him since 1/7/12. i have called and left voicemails and also talked to other representatives and they say he has called me back and left voicemail. i have not received any voicemail and i have called back at lead once each day to have another representative tell me they can not help me and the only person that can is the person assigned to my case. they then say they will send and internal message and have them call me back. i have fought this for over a two weeks and not gotten any resolution. all i want is my car fixed so that the safety equipment in my vehicle works correctly. i have mentioned this on the phone with various representatives and they say that it is ok and to not use my car or just not wear my seatbelt. that is illegal and dangerous.

 2005 nissan altima. consumer states several problems with vehicle to include brakes, trunk leak, relay switch *tgw the consumer stated when he purchased the vehicle, it had been traded two days prior, and the safety inspection had not been performed. the dealer told the consumer, he could keep it over the weekend and bring it back the next business day for the safety inspection so they could repair any problems. when the consumer arrived home with the vehicle, he noticed a cover for the seat belt connector was not attached and there was standing water in the spare tire wheel well. the consumer was informed the trunk problem was fixed. however, water was found in the spare wheel well again. also, the check engine light illuminated due to a faulty gas relay switch. the consumer stated two weeks later, the brakes started squealing. *jb

 I was driving north on the muskogee turn pike around mile marker 9 when i heard a noise. i felt shuttering and looked in the rear view mirrow and saw a large piece of tire flying through the air. i immediately pulled over and changed the tire. all of the tread was missing and the tire was still inflated. this caused over $1,800 in damage to my car and cause me to have to buy a new set of tires.

 Tl*the contact owns a 2005 nissan altima. while driving between 25-35 mph on normal road conditions, the vehicle came to a complete stop and was rear-ended unexpectedly. the force caused the vehicle to rear-end the preceding vehicle. the air bags failed to deploy due to the massive impact and the driver's seat belt retractor failed to operate. there were no warnings prior to the failure. the driver sustained moderate injuries to the head, neck, and shoulder. there were no injuries to the opposing drivers. the police, fire department, and ambulance were called to the scene and a police report was filed. the vehicle sustained rear body damage and was towed to a collision center. the insurance company was notified of the failure. the vin was unknown. the failure and current mileages were 98,000.

 2005 nissan altima has issues with tires and wheel alignment. consumer states that the customer service is not good with phone calls. *nj the consumer stated she was on her third set of tires at 22,000 miles. the technician stated the vehicle had weak axles and were often mis-aligned at the factory. even with the proper maintenance, the mis-alignment would return. the consumer stated the vehicle would not start. it was later determined that the crank position sensor was the cause. the consumer attempted to install a car seat, but she soon discovered, the rear seat belt did not catch as it should have and it did not recoil when it was not being used. the fan would blow and work in all positions, but the only time it would blow warm or hot air was when the accelerator was in use and running for 10-15 minutes. the windows would defrost on the outside, but not the inside. it would form a thin layer of ice and fog that had to be scraped or wiped with warm water, or it would eventually fade after driving for some time. *jb
