I just discovered that the floor boards of both passenger and driver side in the bottom is fully rusted. it seems after looking on line that i am not the only owner of the 2005 altima with the same issue in which could lead to a safety problem with the structural integrity of the vehicle.

I am original owner of a 2005 altima. we recently discovered both the driver and passenger side floorboards are rusted out/through. this car has been well cared for and this is a major concern and safety issue. i have researched this and seen numerous on-line blogs and formal complaints filed to nhtsa on the same issue for nissan owners. i did personally contact nissan consumer affairs and filed a claim with them on this matter. they very politely turned me down on any support for the structural issue and said the car is too old (7 yrs) and not under warranty anymore. the quote to fix this issue is $1,100.00 that i dont have and i am very dissappointed in nissan to not stand behind this structural issue. i hope the nhtsa can help me in this matter and other owners facing the same problem. thank you

I took my vehicle for an oil change and the technician showed me that my floor boards under my driver and passenger side seats were rusted out and forming holes into the cabin of my car. he was able to poke all the way through and push up my carpet on my driver side floor. i was issued a factory recall around 2008 from nissan about living in a road salted state (nj) and the undercarriage needed to be replace. i brought my car in for the recall in nov 2009. it seems they did not replace all the affected areas. i contacted nissan today via their 1-800 # and was told there was no longer a warranty or recall out for my vehicle concerning this issue. i drive the nissan as my main transportation for my children and i can not afford to fix this issue out of my own pocket. it is unsafe and unexpected from a 7 year old car purchase brand new.

Vehicle floor under body below passenger and driver seat has rusted and about to get a hole. i called nissan service center and they say its not in warranty. but its a safety issue and the model is just 7 years old with 89000 miles on it.

After 20 min or so of idling in traffic, then a 10 minute freeway drive at legal speeds i was approaching the off ramp and the clutch went to the floor, no hydraulic pressure. i was able to move out of the way of traffic without incident and pull over. after 10 min of talking to my insurance company for a tow, i noticed partial pressure restored and drove slowly home. now, with research, i have seen this is extremely common and dangerous. too many complaints have been filed online and with nissan, yet there is no resolution and whats worse, no specific answer to the problem. i hope nhtsa doesnt wait for a serious injury or death to occur before this is looked into, a google search of altima clutch recall brings up over a dozen forums with numerous complaints of the same problem.

Floor board on passenger side front has rusted out. car is always washed, and this is the only signs of abnormal rust on the car.

I took my car in to get an oil change. while my car was on the lift we noticed a huge rust spot under the the passanger side. they were able to easily put a screwdriver inside the hole and it lifted my carpet. and what i dont understand is that one month earlier my car was in the shop putting on new tierods and bushings, and there was no rust at all. so in one month the undercoating was gone and a huge rust hole appeared. i took my car to the dealer and they said my warranty was over and it would be about $900 to fix. this is crazy. ive never had any major problems with this car and it only has 62,000 on it. nissan needs to make this a recall beause this is happening to alot of the altimas. this is a major safety problem. and if this is not resolved i will no longer be buying from nissan.

The clutch pedal lost pressure after idling for over thirty minutes, while in traffic, and after the engine has gotten hot and being driven for a couple of hours. the pedal will fall to the floor and you cannot switch gears. the stick shift won't even move into neutral and the car jerks really hard. it will sometimes cut off in the middle of driving if you don't reach down and pull the pedal up with your hand. this has cause me to run off the road because i could not down shift or go into neutral, i recently ended up tapping the rear of someone elses vehicle at which my daughter is still complaining her neck hurts. this is a defective part dealing with the hydraulics and is very dangerous. a lawsuit is sure to be on the way now that i have wen to several dealerships only for them to tell me nothing is wrong with the car because it won't do it for them. all nissan forums are filled with customers having the same issues with these year model cars. nissan is about to kill somebody.

I have recently discovered the driver and passenger side floor boards are severely rusted through to the bottom of the carpet! this is a serious safety hazard with potential for injury from stepping through and possible death from exhaust fumes causing unconsciousness while driving. there is absolutely no rust anywhere else on the car?! to my knowledge there are numerous consumer complaints about this very problem with no record of a recall on file to correct the structural problem of the vehicle.

Passenger side floor panel is rusting. car is only 7. yrs old

While driving the clutch pedal will loose all pressure and will fall to the floor. the vehicle must be shut off and left prior the pressure building back up in the clutch. this is extremely dangerous as the driver is unable to shift gears or put the vehicle in neutral. this is a notorious problem with all nissan altima se-r with manual gear boxes. this problem will cause an accident and get someone killed

I have a 2005 nissan altima, i bought the car in 10/2008 a few months afterwards i started noticing the clutch would go all the way to the floor. i had a friend drive it after that incident and he said he didn't notice anything so i let it go. it would notice it happening again, usually when i'm driving around town in stop and go traffic. i took it to the mechanic who told me they couldn't find anything wrong with it. this has happened to me soo many times now. i will be driving and their would be no pressure in the clutch, it would go all the way to the floor and all the time i'd have to use my feet to pop it back up. one incident happend when i was parked. i turned my car on and put my foot on clutch, no pressure. usually i could put it in gear, drive it around for 10 mins (popping the clutch back up) the whole time and the pressure would start to come back after a couple drives around the block. this time, i couldn't even put the car in gear. i was stuck for almost 30 mins, trying to pump the clutch, turning the car on and off, doing everything possible. finally i was able to put it in gear and drove it around the block and then straight to the mechanic. who told me nothing. basically he bled system, and so forth and so forth. just yesterday, this happened again while driving in busy street in my city. it is very, very dangerous and as i began to research online, i noticed that others are having the same problems. i don't know how much money i've put into trying to fix this problem but their should be a recall for this vehicle. to ensure that no lives are lost or in danger, someone from nissan needs to look into this matter.

What once was two decent sized rust areas on the floorboard of my nissan altima is now two gaping holes in which you can see and put your hand straight through and touch the ground outside if it wasn't for the carpet. i first noticed it when i was getting an oil change and my mechanic pointed out to me. the it all made sense because when ever it rained or snowed badly in my area i would always have wet floors and at first i thought something was leaking but i now know it's the two rust corrosion spot in the floorboard. and some days the odor from the wetness on the carpet is pungent. one is on the driver side and the other is right on the passenger side. i was looking through my warranty and vehicle info books that came with the vehicle and it definitely shows that rust warranty is lifetime or something to that nature i am going to look at it once again and ensure if that information is correct.

While driving on the i-95 i began to approach slower traffic. as i proceeded to slow down, all the dash lights came on, my steering got stiff, and the car was completely off. when i pulled over and attempted to start the car again it hesitated but eventually it started. however, the most recent incident that has occur, the car no longer starts at all and only cranks but won't turn over.

This car was part of a recall due to a engine cooling defect, they claimed it was fixed. then all of a sudden last year my heat wouldn't work, instead the air conditioner would just kick on, could not be fixed. i had no heat last winter. i had a friend who was a mechanic look at it this year take a look at it and made a temp fix and i have heat some of the time. he disconnected the a/c for now. this shouldn't happen to a 5 now 6 year old car. try being in 0 degree weather with the air conditioner blowing at you and being told they don't know whats wrong. this has to be a defect because i have had many 10-15 year old cars and never have had this problem this needs to be addressed to that i can have heat, and now that my a/c is disconnected i would like to have my defroster working, but a small price to pay for not getting frost bite in the frigid temps

As i was driving from delaware to new york, i hit the i-95 around 5pm; typical rush our time. as i began to approach heavy traffic i proceeded to slow down. by the time my speed decreased to 25mph, my steering wheel got stiff and the car felt light as if the car was completely off and left in neutral and rolling down a hill. indeed the car had stalled, and all my dash lights switched on (alt, oil, brake and battery lights). i tried my best to steer into the emergency lane to avoid any possible accidents.

The nissan dealership performed a recall on our vehicle on 06/10/2008 for the r0712 ecm program recall and the p5216 recall. since that work, the service engine soon light has been on in the vehicle which reported a valve problem. prior to this work being done, the light did not go on. we have had the car serviced 4 times for the the repair of the valve, and now a full diagnosis needs to be done to figure out why the valve keeps shorting out. it appears it is going to be something electrical or with the computer.

 1. for the past year the clutch pedal depresses to the floor during periods of increased use. started out happening once every other week. clutch would still engage until friday june 3rd, 2011. clutch failed to engage in traffic. 2. failure starts during increased use, heavy traffic, & during hot days, epically when when air conditioner is used. incident started occurring about 1 year ago and has increased in frequency, happening now at least 5 times a week. sometimes it will happen 3 times a day. when it finally failed i was in traffic & unable to shift any gears. 3. managed to drive car to repair shop where i was told the clutch had completely failed. having it replaced now. car is only at 60,000 miles. nissan forums have many owners experiencing same problems with the clutch failure.

I was driving my 2005 nissan altima se-r 6 speed manual when the clutch just sank to the floori was in rush hour traffic and head could not go at the light. after a couple of times the clutch went back to normal pressure. about 30 minutes later it happened again, but the clutch never went back to pressure i have been reading forums online, and this happens to be a problem for most 02-06 nissan altima owners with manuals. nissan needs to own up to the problem and fix this safety hazard.

I purchsed a 2005 nissan altima in 2006 with 13, 000 miles. shortly after purchasing it, i began to have issues with a spongy clutch...meaning it would become very loose. often it would have to be pumped and then shoved into gear. i brought the car to a local nissan dealer complaining of the issues with the clutch. they had it for a day and couldn't find anythng wrong with it. of course, back then it was still under warranty. the problem never went away. in fact, it became worse until it was finally a safety issue. this clutch issue would occurr at random times in different weather making it very difficult to predict or avoid. often, i was driving in traffic and unable to shift into the next gear. eventually, i had to have the master and slave cylinder replaced and the entire clutch system replaced at my own expense. both were temporary solutions. again, i had problems with the clutch. my car clutch now sticks to the floor making it impossible to switch gears. this is very dangerous. often i am struggling to get the car moving in traffic or at turns putting me and my children in danger. before i pay to have the same issue repaired again, i did some research this time, and this seems to be a common problem among this year and make of nissan. to me, this is an issue that nissan needs to address as it is a safety issue for thei consumers. i have records of all repairs beginning with the initail complaint. in my opinion, nissan needs to be accountable and recall and fix the problems before it results in a fatal accident.

While driving my 2005 nissan altima 2.5 sl, the car stalled while driving at 35 mph. after replacing the battery, the car was still stalling, both while driving and idling. car would restart in a few minutes but would die shortly thereafter. i took it to a repair shop, and they replaced some crankshaft sensor for $300 and now the car works great, no more stalling. nissan should do a recall.

The abs system on the vehicle activates at low speeds. abs light turns on on dashboard. buzzing sound heard from engine bay while abs engages. this causes the vehicle to skid when applying moderate pressure on the brake pedal while at low speed. this can be dangerous because if you are forced to suddenly stop the car will keep moving/skidding forward instead of coming to a quick complete stop. i have no air in my brake lines as i had it professionally bled. i also have new brake pads. and my brake fluid is up to the maximum line in the reservoir and clear. i cleaned all four abs sensors and replaced the one sensor that is common to malfunction on this vehicle. turns out it is the abs actuator that has to be replaced which is a $1,200+ part from nissan. this seems to be a very common problem on the 2004-2007 maxima and 2005-2006 nissan altima, as per research performed on public forums in reference to the aforementioned vehicles. this is of a major safety concern since the vehicle is not able to stop how it is meant to stop. on the contrary, vehicle feels like it is braking on a road filled with pebbles.

Clutch pedal loses pressure and car cannot be put into gear. happens while car is in motion.

The clutch pedal in my 2005 nissan altima is engaging but lately while driving, the clutch suddenly presses all the way to the floor while i attempt to shift gear. the peddle won't come back on its own, and shifting becomes difficult if not impossible. i almost caused an accident maneuvering my foot to unstick the pedal from the floor, while in traffic the other day. then, it suddenly went back to its typical function and operated smoothly. i've experienced two of these occurences within the past 3 days ; the car has been fine up to this point and has been well maintained ( 83000 miles; one owner ).

I received a notice from you guys after the fact. my car dealership(service guy). i went to the repair shop for something else and that's how i found out of the recall. something could've happen to me or someone else while driving this car without warning. they did reprogram the car module. but i don't think that's the issue the car is still driving as it did before and i hope i did not purchase one of your many cars i've heard of as a lemon. i really need to know my next steps in looking into getting a upgrade on this vehicle because i really love these altimas. i don't want to have to go to a dealership and go through the whole process again. please let me know if i can take this car to a nissan dealership to switch it out i only have 34,399 miles on this car. this was the second recall on this car and i only had this car a year i traded in my galant 01 and that only had 59,732 miles on it so i'm not hard on cars i take care of things. my safety is very important to me i don't want to hurt no one and i don't want no one to hurt me or get killed. i'm bringing this matter to your attention first asking you to also don't put my safety or nobody else in jeopardy. please respond back to me so this matter can be resolved quickly. thank you , alfreda thomas *tr

I purchased a 2005 nissan altima in 2006, and in 2007 i started having trouble with the car just stopping when i was driving, this has happened several times, thank god i have not had any serious injuries because of this. my mechanic stated that this was a problem with something dealing with my engine computer resulting in circuit malfunction with my crankshaft, and engine speed sensor, the problem with the crankshaft resulted from me having to restart my car after just stopping on me. i don't feel like i should have to be responsible for repairs if there has been a recall on the very part of this vechicle that has resulted and lead up to the problem that i am having at this time. i have mentioned this to nissan and explained the problem that i am having, and seems to me that the company is just trying to get out of their responsibility of the mistake that was made when building this vehicle. the recall letter clearly states that if the dealer fails, or is unable to make the necessary repairs free of charge, i may contact the national consumeraffairs department. thank you for you time in this matter, and hope that it can be resolved in a timely matter.
