Make: nissan model: altima model year(s): 2005 nhtsa campaign id number : 07v527000 component: engine and engine cooling my car started having problems and it would not pass inspection because of the engine light alert. the reason was due to the crankshafts which i replaced but kept having the problem. the mechanic suggest to look up any outstating recalls and i found the above campaign which describes my problem exactly. all i need to do is take it to the dealer to reprogramm the ecm. the dealers states that my car is not part of the recall and want to charge to get it reprogramm. why should i pay for a manufacture defect when there is an oustanding recall on this problem. the cars has no other problems and the only reason why it won't pass inspection is because of the problem described above. i don't see why this should be and i need a recall notice to take to the dealer to get the car ecm programmed. or do i have to be involved in anccident before the problem can be corrrected. thank you

Cars power started fluttering around 45-50 mph, like it was wanting to die. it had previously died while idleing..codes were checked they came up as bad crank and cam sensor..and bad speed sensor.and catalytic converter..noticed car was under re-call..towed it to dealer they flashed ecm..when we were driving car home all problems re-occurred..had codes checked at another garage all the same ones came up..called dealer they were no help at all and wanted to charge us to check codes told them we already had them and they said its not their problem...they have no interest in addressing the real issues or fixing what the real problem is, what a rip-off..

My 17-year-old daughter has a 2005 nissan altima. a week ago the car began shutting itself off while she is driving it. the codes said we needed to replace the crankshaft sensor and we did so. this did not stop the problem. on the way home from the auto parts store today her car stopped and she was almost rear-ended by a truck. after researching this problem on the internet it appears that nissan altimas have a history of this sort of problem. someone is going to get killed if this problem is not fixed.

Tl*the contact owns a 2005 nissan altima. the contact received a recall notice for nhtsa campaign id number 07v527000 (engine and engine cooling). she called the dealer and was informed that the recall repair would only involve reprogramming the computer, rather than repairing the crankshaft, which really needed to be replaced. the contact's concern was that the recall repair only stalled the failure instead of providing a remedy. on july 10, 2008, the vehicle completely shut down at a stop sign. the vehicle lost total power and no warning lights were illuminated. after waiting two minutes, the vehicle was able to be restarted. when the contact turned off the vehicle to pump gas, it would not restart. the vehicle would also surge occasionally. the current and failure mileages were approximately 64,000.

I was slowly pulling into a parking spot in front of my apartment building. as i reached the front of the spot (the end where the front of my car would be), my 2005 nissan altima bucked backward slightly, then suddenly accelerated. the car hit a tree, then continued forward until it stopped in the bedroom of my downstairs neighbor. my foot was on the brake the whole time. i am sure of this, as this is the second time in a year that this has happened to me. the first time, i was pulling into a parking spot in a parking garage, and the car accelerated into a concrete pole. repairs to the auto body (only) were completed, but it seemed as though the engine was downshifting very hard. i had nissan check it out, and was told there was nothing wrong. i am not nuts. i am not senile. i am not elderly (52). i have been driving for 34 yrs. and have had an excellent driving record (until now). the car was bought in december 2004, and in less than 18 months, i have had 2 almost identical accidents (same malfunction; same approach to the parking spot). *nm

Dt: the owner had problems with the car since the day of purchase. in the middle of driving the check engine light comes on, the car stalls. there is no acceleration and the gas pedal does not work. the check engine light does not come on before the stalling begins. this happened three times. the first time this happened the owner thought it ran out of gas. there has never been an accident as a result. the vehicle has been into the repair shop three times, and the repair have been unsuccessful. the dealership replaced the accelerator position sensor, throttle chamber, and air volume learning procedure. the second time the accelerator position sensor was replaced again. the third time the accelerator position sensor and engine control module were replaced. again, this did not appear to have repaired the problem, the owner is not confident with this vehicle. the dealership would not guarantee this would never happen again. *ak

Dt: car just stops sometimes and it will not start. consumer almost has to flood the engine before it starts. dealer told consumer she needed to pump the gas 3 times before she started the car. she had vehicle in the repair shop because the car was idling very fast. they put a throttle chamber in it, then it started to do the same thing again . dealer said it was unsafe because it was racing too high; they ordered a new part for the car. it is still doing the same thing. *ak updated 02/07/06. *jb
