On may 30, 2008, the office of defects investigation (odi) opened a preliminary evaluation based on consumer complaints alleging that smoke and/or fire erupted in the engine compartment of model year (my) 2005-2006 nissan armada and titan vehicles.by letter dated june 24, 2008, nissan notified the national highway traffic safety administration (nhtsa) that it will conduct a safety recall (nhtsa #08v284) for my2005-2006 nissan titan, armada and infiniti qx56 vehicles manufactured from march 17, 2005 to august 21, 2006 that are equipped with a 90-watt air conditioning condenser fan.the recall involves approximately 180,664 vehicles.this also includes approximately 5,689 subject condenser fans, some of which may have been installed in my2004 and pre-march 17, 2005 my nissan titan, armada or infiniti qx56 vehicles as a service replacement part.nissan dealers will install a special thermal protector kit on existing fans that will eliminate the potential for a fire to occur.nissan north america, inc. (nissan) informed odi that the 90-watt air conditioning condenser fan was manufactured out-of-specification allowing for excessive water intrusion and inadequate drainage of moisture that may accumulate in the motor as a result of water intrusion or condensation.if sufficient moisture accumulates in the motor without adequate drainage, corrosion may occur.the corrosion can cause an increase in internal friction and an increase in the electrical current draw, resulting in an increase in the temperature of the motor that could melt its wiring insulation and other plastic components and form a gas.if two wires without insulation touch each other and create a spark, this gas could ignite and result in a fire.the action taken by nissan is sufficient to resolve the issue raised by this investigation.accordingly, this investigation is closed.

My brakes lock up on my 2005 nissan armada completely. the vehicle rattles and the front part makes a noise as if it is breaing apart. there is no warning when this is going to happen. the break pedal locks and springs back. i turn the truck off for a few minutes and the issue goes away. other owners are having the same issue with the brakes electrical system.

Our armada would intermittently not want to start or take a long time to start. then several weeks later it died right after starting. also the lights on the sash where going crazy (flashing and staying solid). tried to start the truck several times with in the next hour with out any luck. has the truck towed to nissan dealer, where they said it was the ipdm module. had them replace the part.

2005 nissan armada le, 56k miles multiple electrical issues resulting in loss of critical functions: braking system, air bags, electrical power all while the vehicle is being driven. have taken to dealership 8 times for repairs related to electrical problems. most recently, loss of brakes occurred while traveling on a major road @ 50 mph; lost brake function when approached stop light. this has happened multiple times, i have reported it to the dealer 4 times. each time the code is cleared but nothing is done. this time they are replacing the abs booster, but from reading posts of other owners, the problem recurs. dealer refuses to report problem to nissan. *tr

I was driving my '05 nissan armada (27,000 miles) with my 2 yr old son and smelled a strong odor, thinking it was from a truck driving next to me. i picked up my daughter, put both children in their car seats and started the ignition. two puffs of smoke came out on either side of the engine. i quickly unbuckled my children, ran them into the school and smoke started billowing out of the engine. the fire dept was called & school was evacuated. within 15 min, the engine area was engulfed in flames. the vehicle was a total loss. i had multiple problems with the battery. nissan has refused to assist me in any way. *tr

While driving 65 mph on the freeway my 2005 nissan armada stalled. the electrical was still functional. we had enough momentum to pull over to the side of the road. it was difficult as we almost had an accident. prior to this, the airbag warning light was flashing. we had it towed to the nearest nissan dealer where we were told it was probably due to having no gas in our vehicle. besides being insulted we did have a 1/4 tank of gas prior to taking it to them. we still have yet to hear from them again and the vehicle has been there for 2 days. *nm

I purchased a used 2005 nissan armada on may 22, 2006 with a mileage of 34,399 miles. as you can see i haven't had it for a 2 full months yet, and already it has failed me. on my way home from work after working 16 hours. i stopped in a record shop to purchase some music cd's, it had only been about 15 minutes that the engine was shut off. when i proceeded back to my vehicle to start it back up, it wouldn't start. i therefore called aaa, they came in a matter of minutes, they tried for 45 minutes to give it a boost but it just wouldn't start, so therefore aaa had to send a flat bed tow truck to tow it back to the dealer. i contacted the dealer where i purchased the vehicle from, they informed me that the service department was closed, so now i have to take off a day of work to have this vehicle towed on monday. the catch 22 is they can't promise me a loaner, and they are not even sure if they can reimburse my towing fees. as a consumer who is a single parent of 4 working 16 hours a day 5 days a week, i'm taking this all the way to the top. the end results that would be to my satisfaction is to give me a brand new 2006 armada with 0 mileage. the dealer did not service this car properly. i conducted a carfax report on my vehicle and it stated that this vehicle was used as a rental in maryland. i don't want them to fix it, they are assuming its the alternator or the starter, in which should not be happening to what is considered to be a new truck. i feel once they fix that problem, another problem will occur. i am a very dissatisfied customer, i feel i was taken for my money because i am a woman. i will be contacting consumer affairs & ny1 news station to get the satisfaction i deserve. *jb
