In march 2009 my 2005 nissan armada, which i bought new in late 2004, started to have problems with the breaks. the red warning lamps light up and the car lost most of its breaking power, like not having any servo support. there were also noice and a soft pulsing feeling. we found that if we turned of the engine and then started it again, everything worked fine. nissan could not find any faults with the car. the problem repeted itself 4-6 times a year. nissan could still not find any faults they could not repete the fault when they had the car in for tests. in july 2012, on my annuall service, i asked again about the breaks. i was then told that other customers have had the same problem and that they now has a solution for the problem. i am surpriced that nissan has not recalled the failing breaks. nissan's answer is still that there was no problem. i have the work papers to show what was needed to fix the problem.

I have a 2005 armada and i experienced the abs/brake/vdc light coming on. took it to the dealer and they could not find anything wrong. they reset the computer and added fluid to the master cylinder. this happened after having the vehicle for 13 months. symptoms: brake peddle fell to the floorboard, grinding was felt and heard, dash brake light came on. it felt like the brake pads fell off the calipers and the calipers and rotors were rubbing against each other to stop the truck, which didn't happen. i had roughly 20% braking power, compared to normal, when this occurred. i have had bake work done over and over again and the issue continue to come back and it's very random. my cousin whom has a 2005 nissan armada also call me today complaining about the same issue. did more research and found this web site http://townhall-talk.edmunds.com/direct/view/.f0ffea4 were there were over 100 post of people complaining about the exact same issue with there armada. lucky i have not had an accident with this issue, but i feel as if my day is coming. my vehicle is paid off, and i don't feel as if this is a normal wear and tear issue of the vehicle, and i don't want to have to purchase another vehicle because nissan is refusing to repair an safety issue with one if it vehicles. please help, resolving this issue could prevent me or someone else from having an accident but more importantly it could help save someone's life. please please please look at the web site i provided. i feel as if the there may not be a lot of complaints about this issue because people don't know how to report issues. *tr

Brake light came on during normal driving conditions. when i pressed the brake to stop, the abs system kicked on and braking distance was greatly reduced. problem reset itself when vehicle was turned off and turned back on. it has been an intermittent problem now for 5 years. never have had it near a dealer when it has happened so i have not gotten it fixed. it may come on two or three times a day then it might not come back on for 6 months then it will happen everyday for a week and the stop for three months. something is clearly wrong with their braking system and i don't want to pay them to fix their mistakes. here we are after owning the car for 5 years and seeing many talk forums of other people have the same issue and nissan has not stepped up to resolve it. the brake system is a dangerous component to have fail going down the road. *tr

Like many others, when applying brakes, harsh grinding noise and inability to brake easily. the problem goes away when car re-started. has happened about 25 times in 3 years. seems to be computer issue but never happens when at service center. when my wife drove the car , the first time it happened shook her quite a bit as she was in high traffic area going about 40 mph. it is unsafe to turn the engine off and on while driving but this is only way to get brakes operating. *tr

While traveling on the highway (50mph) red brake light came on dash and when applying pressure to the brakes, grinding noise immediately began and pedal pressure was not available. almost full pedal travel to the floor board. at the time, abs was kicking in and brakes were not working properly. had to swerve to miss cars that were stopped off of the exit ramp at a red light, pulling off to the side of the ramp. had to turn the car off and restart the car in order for the brakes to work properly again. after research, this is a confirmed and known problem by nissan of america with the brake booster/delta sensor in armada and titan trucks manufactured by nissan. *tr

I was coming up to a stop light, going roughly 40 mph, and started applying the brakes, as the lights were changing, and i felt the brake pedal go soft and drop nearly to the floor. i had the brake, abs, and slip lights light up on my dash. i was able to bring the armada to a controlled stop before going into the intersection, but to do so i had to depress the brake pedal to the floor and it was as if there was a miniscule amount of pressure being applied to the brakes. once stopped i shifted into park, turned off the truck, waited a few moments, and turned the truck on again. the brake, abs, and slip lights remained illuminated and the brake pedal continued to feel extremely soft. i had to keep it full depressed against the floor in order to stay stopped. when the stop lights turned green, i pulled off the road- out of the way of traffic- and repeated the procedure above that i performed at the stop light. the brake, abs and slip lights continued to remain illuminated. *tr

My brakes failed twice in my 2005 nissan armada w/55k miles. the first time, my brakes failed to stop me at an intersection, with a near miss collision. the brake light came on & there was a horrible grinding sound, the brake pedal pulsated & i had to take it all the way to the floor to attempt to stop my vehicle. i immediately pulled over and was towed to my mechanic. i was told there was nothing wrong with my brakes? the light no longer came on and the sound was gone. approx 3 months later it happened again. driving 35 mph i started to brake and the exact same thing happened again. this time i drove home and parked it, got back in the vehicle to check it and the brake light was off & the sound was gone, brakes still felt different however. the next morning, i did some research online, saw a bunch of people having the same exact problems. i called nissan directly & opened a case. made an appt at the dealership, they knew exactly what i was talking about. after inspection they told me it was my brake booster & it needed to be replaced and reprogrammed & it cost $975. i called nissan to let them know the cost & asked for assistance since it was a defective part. i was informed to not pick up my vehicle until i heard from them. i had rented a car from the dealership. nissan took 5 days to respond & called at 5:30pm to say sorry we decided not to help. so not only did i pay for the part, reprogramming & service, i also had to pay for the rental as well! they denied me for two reasons, my vehicle was out of warranty & i did not have it serviced at a dealership. poor customer service! because of that i will never buy another nissan ever again! and i love my car... they need to own the problem! people are at risk because of faulty programming and parts. they will probably wait for someone to die before they actually take any action! *js

My 05 armada has problems with the brake senor light coming on and the abs system start acting erratic, vibration under dash and pedal moving back and forth the brakes lock up and start making grinding sound and is hard to control. when the car is stopped and restarted all problems vanish. sometimes it does it when the car is parked like when i went to the store came out and try to drive it but it was locked. when im driving the car and it with just a touch to the pedal the brakes would just lock up. its unsafe because there is no warning when it happens. i called the dealer and told the person in charge what was happening she said it might be the brake booster. i think its a computer hard ware or software issue because once its re-started it goes back to normal. since my insurance has already expired and the lady said it will cost me about 1,000 dlls which i don't have right know it will be difficult for me to fix it right away. if it is the brake booster.i hope in the meantime im lucky enough to not be in a car accident because of this problem thank you. help. *tr
SERVICE BRAKES, AIR
01/31/2011
I have experienced intermittent problems with the abs system on my 2005 nissan armada. periodically while driving, the brake light will illuminate when brakes are applied and the abs system activates. the brakes begin to groan, are spongy, have reduced braking power, and make a sound like a large spring being released. the vehicle continues these symptoms until the ignition is turned off. the speed at which the event occurs varies from 5 to 50mph. this has happened an average of once every 3 moths since may 2009. if the vehicle is turned off and then on again the system resets and performs normally. each time i took the car to the dealership no problem codes could be found and there were no symptoms. i was finally able to take the vehicle to the dealer while the malfunction was occurring and take a test drive with a technician. his first words upon driving the vehicle were ?sounds and feels like the abs acting up.? he then checked for codes and found c1179. the technician reprogrammed the abs under ntb06-040 program. one week later the problem re-occurred and has been happening every 2 to 3 weeks since. i was able to bring the car in again while malfunctioning and the same problem code c1179 was found even after the tsb fix.

We purchased the vehicle the end of 3/05. w/in days we noticed a shimmy in the steering and the vehicle was difficult to control at speeds of 50+. steering would veer to the left and wheel would jerk to side when encountering slight bumps in the road. when applying the brakes, the car would vibrate & shudder and was even more difficult to control (at any speed). it took more pressure than usual to get car to stop. the most frightening part was that the car was especially hard to control in rainy conditions. when driving at speeds of between 25-35 mph, in a moderate rainfall, the car hydroplaned on 5 occassions within a distance of approx. 60 miles. also, the tire pressure light would come on intermittently. within the first week, i brought the car into a dealership to have my tire pressure checked. it was fine and they had no explanation for the light appearing. i was out of state at the time & they suggested i bring it into my dealership. i brought it into the dealership to have the alignment checked, which is what i thought the problem was. they balanced my tires and told me this was why my tire pressure light was going on. after the problem continued, i was told it was a problem with the brakes and that nissan was aware of this problem . i was told that they did not have the parts to fix the problem. they were waiting for the parts to arrive, but had no idea when this would be. this is a safety issue and i am fearful of driving this vehicle. i have contacted nissan north america and received no satisfaction. this is a serious issue and i am furious that i cannot get the manufacturer to commit to a date that they will replace these brakes. nissan n.a. representative told me that it's not a safety issue & my difficulties handling the vehicle in adverse conditions was external. the car is hard to handle in the best of conditions. it only makes sense that the more difficult the driving conditions, the harder this vehicle would be to control.

I am leasing a 2005 nissan armada. currently there are 3300 miles on the truck and i already took it to the dealer 2 for brake issues. there is a very a hard brake judder once brake pedal is pressed with the truck going over 20 miles per hour. i took it to the dealer at 1900 miles and they said it is not a big deal and they will repair it when i take the truck in for maintenance at 3500 miles. now i took it in for maintenance when the problem is worse and they are saying they have no parts to fix the truck since nissan has not send them. service department has been excellent and tried to help with all my questions but it doesn ot look like it is up to them anymore. the truck is almost in the un-drivable condition.

Brakes on my 2005 nissan armada. when braking the steering wheel starts to judder or shake. the car is only two months old with 1,300 miles. i now hear that this is a common problem. i would like there to be a recall on this matter.

Front brake rotors warped at 5,771 miles. rotors were resurfaces and pads replaced, i was informed that nissan has an update but parts not available yet as there are more vehicles needing the replacement part than parts available in the market.

Brakes on 2005 armada went out and started to grind and stick, could not duplicate after re starting vehicle. this happens intermittingly and icannot get it to duplicate on cue. i have had problems with the brakes on this vechicle since the day it was driven off of the dealers lot. this is very unsafe never knowing when brakes will fail and i have to find a place to stop to shut the engine off to reset the vechicle. listen nissan someone is going to get hurt or killed because you are not fixing this problem!

When my 2005 armada brake light came on i pressed the brake and there was a loud grinding noise that also sounded like a spring. i pulled over and restarted my armada and the brake light and noise went away. i took it to the dealership and they said they were unable to find anything wrong. so the same thing happened again a few weeks later, again i took it to the dealearship and they said nothing was wrong. they said next time the issue comes up do not turn the vehicle off and bring it into the dealearship so they can test it with the brake light on. this was very inconvenient because the next two times it happend the dealership was closed. finally when it happened again the dealearship was open and they were able to test it. it turns out the brake booster is failing and would cost $900 to fix. since my armada was no longer under warranty it was not covered but when i brought it in to the dealership orginally i had 30k miles, plus i bought a 75k extended warranty. i have seen several reports of this problem online and can't figure out why this is not a recall due to the fact the brakes should be the safest thing on your vehicle.

I was driving in heavy traffic and a car unexpectedly put on the brakes in front of me. i had to hit mine suddenly. my brake pedal went almost to the floor and make a sound like tin cans getting crushed and the brake light came on. the brakes continued to do this until i got to my destination. i didn't know what to do. my brakes wouldn't stop correctly and i was scared i wouldn't be able to stop. i had my husband leave his job an hour away and come get me. he drove it to the closest brake shop. they didn't see any issues such as pads, fluid, etc and it wasn't symptomatic. when turning off the car and back on, it cleared up. the brake issue happened again approx 1 1/2 week later and on a saturday, then on the sun. i was not at home at the time. i did research and found that my armada had this issue with 1000's of owners of this model. there is even service tech bulletins. the code clears and will fix temporarily when the engine is turned off. this is a serious issue. i can easily lead to a serious accident b/c the brakes will not stop like they are supposed to and you don't know when this is going to happen. i took to the dealership on monday and they said it was the brake booster and it will cost 810.00. they said nissan will not cover it since it is not recalled. this is not a maintainance issue this is a factory flaw. the dealership didn't have the part for 2 days and told me not to go great distances because this was very dangerous. i contacted nissan consumer repairs from the dealership and they said i should procede home with caution.

I started having serious safety issues with my 2005 nissan armada. the parking brake light came on and the armada became difficult to brake. this has occurred several times over the last 6 months. while braking, i could hear a grinding noise and a spring popping. i only had approximately 25 percent braking power. the problem would go away after i turned the vehicle off and back on. searched the internet and found the problem to be quite common and the fix to be quite simple: just take it into the dealership with fault code c1179 and tsb ntb06-040 and have them reprogram the vdc. i did so. the dealership told me that my armada did show fault code c1179, but that my vehicle already had that latest software so my problem is likely not fixed. $68 to update nothing and the dealership has left me to continue driving the unsafe vehicle without providing a fix. i want nissan to correct this issue before someone is killed. a search of the internet shows that numerous armada owners have had the same problem. spoke with nissan corporate (david at 866-799-1690 x1476) but he too failed to acknowledge the deficiency and acted as though my issue was 1 in a billion despite overwhelming complaints by nissan armada/titan owners. nissan has got away with essentially ignoring this serious safety issue.

Multiple brake failures with my 2005 nissan armada. nissan motor america is well aware of the serious safety defects in my vehicle but will not honor the 2 times of a major system failure to replace the vehicle. this is the 4th time i have had a major brake failure on the vehicle in cluding its systems and computer components. parts have been replaced in my vehicle 4 times. the last time, i was assured by a dtc from california who flew up to wa who authorized the replacement of the entire braking system which failed again it would never happen again. multiple failures on the diagnostics revealed codes which was again authorized the replacements of parts from a consumer affairs regional manager: codes: vehicle dct c11110-controller failure, p1832 tcs op signal, p1831-vdc op signal, p1828 -line pres. in short, master vaccume, master cycinder, abs controll unit, all were replaced again. nissan fp numbers: 47660-zq21b actuator assy. 47210-zc01c master vac assy, 46010-7s20a cyl brake master, wiring connectors, brake fluid...etc, etc. this is another failured attempt for nissian to skirt the seriousness of this issues of my vehicle and hundreds of others if not thousands. service advisor from town nissan in wenatchee mentioned that the rotors has been turned. work not performed. lied to me as a customer. now i have major break fade from my vehicle being tested from the dealership to try and duplicate the failure initially and road testing it for proper function. the first 3 brake failures occured within the first 2 years of the vehicles life. 3200 miles - rotors failed, 5800 miles-major brake failure all components replaced. 13000 miles-another major brake failure, parts replaced again, 22000 miles rotors warped & replaced. 28000 miles, brake failure again, major systems replaced again. 49000 miles again brakes failed. major systems replaced. when will nissian listen? after a death in a school zone? crosswalk? myself? replacement of parts is a poor attempt for nissan.

The first time the brake issue occured was at the first start of the day. i turned on the vehicle began reversing out of my drive when i applied the brakes the warning light came on and a loud scraping sound came from the front end. i could also feel the grinding in the brake pedal. when the vehicle was turned off then restarted problem was gone. a few weeks later the incident happened again. this time it was the middle of the day and the car had already been driven before. again when the brakes were applied a loud grinding noise was heard and vibrations in the brake pedal. again turning the vehicle off then restarting got rid of the problem.

I have a 2005 nissan armada. and i think that is a computer clinch in the brake system. i have had my brakes check at he dealership and they said there no problems but i have had incident where i have been driving and when i press on the brake it felt like it was just hitting medal. this has happened more than five time. and i have been fortunate enough not to be traveling in access speed. when this happen i have to turn the vehicle off and restart it and the problem is fix. i have told the dealer about it and they just do visual look without checking if there is a computer problem. also my brother has a 2004 infinity and he has the same problem with his vehicle. *tr

This is pertaining to a 2005 nissan armada that we purchased brand new. soon after purchase, the brakes began chattering and we took it to dealer. they fixed the brakes based on recommended upgrade per nissan. a couple of month later, the car had a brake failure that was remedied by turning off engine and restarting. there were no problems since until two days ago when the brakes failed again. nissan has been contacted and we are expecting a call back from a regional expert as to how to get brakes fixed. we received call from nissan dealer that said that they do not know about this problem with other nissan armada's and that we would have to pay to get it looked at. this car only has 13,500 miles on it. we are very concerned about the safety since this is a completely random brake failure occurrence and is remedied by restarting car and is difficult to duplicate. the symptoms include very loud sound in engine bay followed by brake pedal sinking to floor and no brakes activating. *tr

Last week we vacationed in gatlinburg, tenn...at our family reunion in the mountain at a chalet .....i purchased my 2005 nissan armada and it had 50000 miles on it inapril. at 53000 i was descending the mountain and in my opinion not riding the brakes, although i delayed into shifting in to low. the grade on the descent was very steep and all i remember is the brake light and a loud noise coming from the front end of the vehicle and a gradual then dramatic decrease in my brakability. i was shaken and pulled over. in a couple of minutes i proceeded a little more and found the brake to almost disappear. i luckily found a driveway on an incline and pulled up and put it in park. i sat and wondered what to do because i was in such a dangerous mountain curve that was difficult to get help in. when i calmed down, i called my brothers to help me and let them know my location. when i saw a chance i put the vehicle in reverse and backed up, putting the armada in drive to reach a pull off point going uphill. i shut the nissan off and got out and waited. after a half an hour my brothers showed up and drove the vehicle without any problem. they told me i just rode my brakes and needed to let them cool off, but i thought they were right until i received this list of complaints and hear the same symptoms i experienced.....i will watch for this again and since we have a 6000 lbs family trailer we haven't use yet -i am eager to get the solution. nissan needs to troubleshoot this problem and resolve the computer glitch before someone gets killed. i am a experienced school bus driver and an off road lover and i was able to handle the situation.......i would not like an inexperienced driver to have the same situation. i had no parts replaced because my family convinced me i was at fault and rode the brakes heating them up, and i just had new brakes before we left on vacation. *tr

2005 nissan armada le, 56k miles multiple electrical issues resulting in loss of critical functions: braking system, air bags, electrical power all while the vehicle is being driven. have taken to dealership 8 times for repairs related to electrical problems. most recently, loss of brakes occurred while traveling on a major road @ 50 mph; lost brake function when approached stop light. this has happened multiple times, i have reported it to the dealer 4 times. each time the code is cleared but nothing is done. this time they are replacing the abs booster, but from reading posts of other owners, the problem recurs. dealer refuses to report problem to nissan. *tr

Driving home about 45 mph, the brake light came on. i slowed down for the upcoming red light but the brakes did not work, they went into abs mode so i removed my foot from the pedal, re-applied pressure to the brake pedal and the brakes started pulsing and grinding violently. i could not stop for the red light so i dropped it down into 4th gear and made a hard right turn about 25 mph. thankfully there was little traffic so no accident and no one was hurt. i drove the remaining two miles homes at 25 mph and without using the brakes until i got to my driveway. i applied very light pressure on the brake pedal and little noise but not much stopping power, thankfully my driveway is uphill. when i got home i looked up armada brake failure and realized that there were hundreds of posts dating back to 2004, so this appears to be a common issue with the brake booster and computer.

When cruising at low speed when i release the gas pedal to let the truck coast, it feels like the brakes get applied slightly and the truck starts to loose speed. in my experience with all my automatic transmission cars is that when you release the gas pedal the car would coast and loose speed gradually. but in my armada it almost feels like the brakes are being applied very slightly.

Same issue everyone else is having spongy brakes when pressed not stopping, loud grinding noise, major safety issue....can nhtsa help out the little guy for a change and order a recall for this safety issue at hand with all nissan armadas breaking systems......nissan is aware of the issues but does not want to fix its problem... i guess it takes a death to have them listen. in all reality its not the death that will cause them to listen or fix the issue at hand it will be the law suit against nissan for their unsafe practices.....

When driving and when the brake is applied to stop the brake light comes on and the brakes sound like they are scrubbing and the brake petal goes to the floor the vehicle slows a little but it is still rolling. the vehicle then has to be put in park, the engine then has to be turned off. you then have to wait a few seconds and restart vehicle. if this is not done the light doesnt go off and the braking is the same. also the front passenger door lock works randomly. i have this problem also with my infiniti g35 which is also made by nissan, i have two friends that own nissan vehicles that experience the same problem with their door lock on the front passenger side.

Driving fine then after stopping at a stop sign, car would not accelerate, like it is in a higher gear. after reaching 10mph it drives perfectly fine. if after stopping you cut the engine and restart, it is fine. reverse works fine. code p1757 comes up on test. a bad valve body. i've seen this all over the internet mostly on nissan '05 models, maybe some '06. very frustrating, nissan says i need a whole new transmission. i'm thinking a recall should be looked into. it doesn't seem to happen on other year models as much.

At slow speed, brakes appear to fail. grinding noise with very minimal breaking as a result. turning off vehicle and restarting seems to clear the trouble. would be dangerous in traffic situation. recurring yet very occasional problem.

2005 nissan armada- our problem seems to be the same as countless others with no answer in sight. we will apply the brakes when we are at a slower speed (<30mph) and the brakes will fail. they pulsate, grind, and push in a spongey feel all the way to the floor with very minimal braking results. my wife drives this car with our 3 year old daughter so you can imagine our concern. we are planning to sell the car and get something else, but would like to have the brakes fixed first. but from what i see, nissan is going to do nothing to help and the government must be turning a blind eye to an issue that is obviously a serious safety risk for not just owners of these armadas, but for other drivers and pedestrians walking the streets as well.

2005 nissan armada abs issues. vehicle brakes just start grindiing and grinding when brake is applied and braking power is at a minimum. if you turn off the vehicle and restart is seems to work for a while. this is a very intermittant problem but very very dangerous. i was applying brakes to slow down and turn into a grocery store drive and the brake light came on, they started making a horrible grinding noise like the brakes were falling apart....stopping power greatly dimished but luxkily i was able to pull to shoulder and limp into lot. once i turned it off and back on it has worked fine for several days...but very scared.

My 2005 nissan armada have brake problems the vehicle at no particular time the brakes will fail having a spring clonk noise several times coming from the front brakes when this problem happens the vehicle will not stop the brake pedal will travel all the way down with no braking power to the wheels.this problem has happen to me many times over the years,i have taking the vehicle to numerous times to nissan dealers.unfortunately dealer can replicate this problem telling me that there is nothing wrong with the brakes.now my warranty is over and there is way that the dealer will cover with these expenses. i have told the dealers that this is a very serious problem that sombody could die if there is no brakes that nissan should recall the brakes,so far nissan has not done anything to fix this issue.

While driving the 2005 nissan armada, experienced an engage of the braking system, clanging noise, loss of braking at the pedal, park light comes on. apears as though the abs system has engages. armada remains locked in this position even after stopping. this condition is recoverable by turn off the power/key and restarting. seems like a computer just engaged the abs by mistake. dangerous!

We have had several incidents with the nissan armada since owning the vehicle new. basically, the brakes fail on the car and it becomes very difficult to stop the vehicle. it becomes unsafe to drive. it is a known problem with the armada and titan and nissan continues to deny the problem. my wife nearly had 2 accidents during the incidents. the dealer states turning the car on and off resets it but there is no way to determine when it can happen again. it is extremely dangerous and should be addressed with a recall by nissan.

Brakes on 2005 armada went out and started to grind and stick, could not duplicate after re starting vehicle and mechanic cannot get it to duplicate as well costing me money to have checked out each time it happends not the first time replaced pads the first time and re-occurs more often now very unsafe never know when brakes will engage sometimes drag without being applied

When driving our nissan armada, there was a grinding noise upon braking. a few seconds later, the brake light appears. as the car is still moving & braking again, the grinding is still there & it sounds like metal, however, when applying pressure to the brake pedal, it feels like there are no brakes. i would have to brake well ahead to avoid hitting the car in front of me. as i accelarte the gas, the armada has a hard time picking up speed (this is a v8 vehicle with lots of power) & feels sluggish trying to go beyond 40 miles per hour. i would have to pull over and turn car off completely for a few minutes & restart vehicle. we have 2 children that we drive around in this unsafe vehicle especially with the brake problem. this instance has happened on more than 4 occasions & both my husband & i experienced it. my husband was on the freeway when it happened to him. i brought the car to a nissan dealership when it happened to me while i was driving. i went straight over to nissan with kids in tow & paid approximately $85 with no results. service tech states they did not find anything wrong & did not fix anything. i know i am not the only one with this braking problem. the braking problem happened again this morning while driving on my way to work. i stopped for a minute, turned off the ignition, & restarted it. the problem this time did not go away. i feel very unsafe. does something tragic need to happen first before nissan addresses this problem? there are numerous forums on the web claiming brake problems with the nissan armada, however, it has not been properly addressed or fixed permantly. i did my research & all i can see are temporary fixes. please...please...before anything tragic may happen (ex: toyota/lexus brake recalls), have nissan find a permanent solution. there are many armada drivers out there that are at a high risk of an accident.

My 2005 nissan armada's air bag srs system is inoperable. the dashboard light indicated a failure of the airbag system while the vehicle was under warantee and i thought it was repaired after several instances. i have taken the vehilce to several mechanics to have the srs system repaired. nissan claimed it has been everything from the seatbelt tensioners, sensor modules under the seats to bad elecrical connectors. all of these components have been replaced but my dash lights show i still have inoperatble airbags. the srs system on my armada is currently in failure again and i cannot afford to pay nissan again to attempt to repair the problem. i also have a second issue with the abs brakes activating randomly during normal slow speed stops in which the brakes shake violently and with little stopping force. it seems the abs system is activating under light operational conditions. this has been a re-accurring problem each summer. nissan cannot duplicate the problem so i have been sent home without remedy. i am complaining because i have no other recourse except to warn others before someone is seriously hurt or killed through the failure of the brakes or the airbags. i am the original owner and the vehicle has not been modified in any manner.

My husband was leaving work in 2005 nissan armada, he heard a strange grinding noise coming from front brakes as he tried to stop at a stop sign then realized he had no brakes. he managed to drive the 10 miles home with no brakes. we drove to nearest nissan dealer the next day and was told it was an electrical issue in the master brake cylinder and would cost 900.00 to fix. after checking online forums we realized this is an issue with many more owners, that nissan fails to do anything about. how many people have to get seriously hurt before nissan will admit that there is a serious issue with the brakes for this model.

I have a 2005 nissan armada, the problem is complete brake failure. when traveling at slow speeds (<20mph) the brake system gives out completely. the brake pedal goes to the floor, the red brake dash light comes on and the abs and vdc systems go into a confused array of mixed signals and sounds trying to correct the failed brake system. at the time of failure the braking power is <25% of normal. in a panic stop or while trailering a load there would be no way to avoid a crash and injury. this failure occurred 5 times in one day before the vehicle was towed to nissan. the scariest part of this failure is that by turning the vehicle off and restarting it, resets the system failure and everything functions completely normal for a time, leading the driver to believe that it was just a computer error that needed reset. nissan reported that it was code c1179, delta sensor failure and required a new delta sensor and brake vacuum booster. the vehicle currently has only 39,458 miles on it. this is a major safety issue, this vehicle is rated to tow 9100lbs, when the failure occurs the vehicle can barely stop its own weight. the stopping distance during failure going 20mph was approx. 200 to 300 feet with only one occupant. nissan knew exactly what the problem was when i called them so i am not the only one to have this occurrence. upon researching i found 48 complaints that match mine on aboutautomobiles.com. these people all took the time like me to create an account and voice their concerns in much detail. this is a manufacturing defect that should not be occurring on any vehicle. please correct this problem before someone gets hurt!!

I have a 2005 nissan armada that has had anti lock brakes engaging at all different times in conditions that it should not be engaging in(example:sunny, clear road ,90 degree summer weather)this leaves me with very little braking ability.this is a major saftey issue especially when i have small children in my vehicle. i have brought it to the nissan service dept. several times and they tell me that everything is fine and cannot replicate the problem. i have googled the problem on the net and found numerous sites with pages upon pages of complaints over this same problem with my exact senarios of driving conditions and what happens to the vehicle. i proceeded to nissan headquaters to explain my problem and that i am not the only one that nissan has failed to help. they refuse to recognize that this is a major saftey issue happening to numerous nissan armadas years 2004 thru 2006. i said i want a rental paid for by them and i want nissan to keep the car till they can rectify this obvious wide known saftey problem. they told me that nissan is not responsible for this problem nor acknowledges it & that the vehicle owners are and at vehicle owners cost to drop off the vehicle for a undetermined amount of time(this could be a week to many weeks before problem occurs again & it is stated by numerous owners that that is how undetermined when it happens)till they can hopefully replicate the problem and repair it at owners cost along with rental vehicle cost. this is not a wear and tear problem caused by the owners of this vehicle model this is a manufactuer defect that nissan refuses to admit and create a recall on this anti lock brake system. they also proceded to tell me that if i cannont afford a rental for who knows how many weeks that it could be to wait till the problem occurs myself and drive it to the dealer. that is a unaccepteable unsafe answer form them to tell the consumer to drive your vehicle till you have no brakes then bring it in. something must be done!

2005 nissan armada brake hydraulic failure. it happen at least once every other month ever since i own the armada back when it's about 15k miles. while driving at low speed and coming to a stop, the brake light led up and the braking system is useless, it make grinding sound, sound like springs popping out in front of the armada from tires. almost crash the armada into another car stopping in front several times due to useless brakes. took it the mossy nissan houston, they can't replicate the issue back years ago. once you shut off the armada, it reset and it went back to normal. and the problem continue, perhaps until someone get hurt or kill??????!

While driving down the road i would be approaching a stop sign or light and i applied the brake and suddenly hear a loud grinding noise. when i pull over and turn the vehicle off and then start over, it was like it reset itself. i freaked out because i had children with me. nissan, please figure this out!!! also when i try to turn my air on or off i hear a very loud clicking noise. even while driving down the road without touching the air it just randomly does it.

I own a 2005 nissan armada and on at least 4 occasions my brake light has come on while driving. when i apply the brakes they make a grinding noise and the vehicle vibrates and the brakes are not effective. so far i have not had anyone in front of me nor have the traffic lights been red. if they had i would have been involved in an accident. i have had to coast to the edge of the road or turn into a parking are. when i turn the vehicle off and re-start it the problem disappears. i went on line to a web site listing problems with the armada and find that mine is not the only one doing this. i think you need to recall these vehicles as there is something wrong. i know you wont as in my opinion most of you worthless government employees are useless and dont give a damn about the safety of the citiens of this country. last happened october 10th 2010.

On 10/21/2010 the right rear brake caliper fell off of our 2005 nissan armada during vehicle opperation. dealer inspected and stated caliper bolts were missing and my wife had someone watching over her and was lucky to not have sustained any injuries. vehicle has had no recent service to rear wheels or brakes. vehicle has approx. 77,000 miles. dealership has no explanation for incident other than vehicle being tampered with and tried to use theft of catalytic converters as an example.

I was operating my 2005 nissan armada on monday, september 20, 2010 when my brakes failed to operate correctly. fortunately, it did not cause an accident, but the brakes when applied did not cause the vehicle to stop and there was a grinding noise when i applied pressure to the pedal. i had the vehicle towed to the dealer where they discovered a code c1179 which required them to replace the brake booster sensor. the repair was over $800 which included the cost of towing the vehicle. i have learned that nissan issued a service bulletin for the issue on may 12, 2006. my husband complained to nissan, but they would not cover the cost of the repair. my vehicle had approximately 79,000 miles at the time of the incident. i am concerned with this issue because it was a failure of a safety system of the vehicle which i do not believe to be associated with normal wear and tear. in my situation, i had just replaced my front brake pads two months prior to the incident. my vehicle was well-maintained and regularly inspected by the dealer.

Previously reported under complaint #odi id number : 10339985. a summary of the problem:the issue/problem: the brake light comes on. when brakes are used, there is decreased braking power. the brakes make a crunching, springy noise with the pedal being extremely soft until it gets closer to the floor and begins to give braking power. when ignition is turned off, the problem resolves at least temporarily. when the engine has turned off, i have had the problem reoccur as soon as 5 minutes and as long as 31 months. i made a video of one of my instances @ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bmtpofdbjr8 i first experienced the braking problem back in 3/06 with ~12,000 miles on the vehicle. the dealer was not able to duplicate the issue, but it had happened to me 3-4 times prior to getting it to the dealer. during the visit, they performed the judder brake bulletin service. the description of the judder brake bullentin did not seem to fit my problem, but the car no longer had the issue. then the issue reoccurred at ~46,000 miles in 10/08. again the brakes did not have full power for 3-5 times prior to getting it to the dealer. i was able to demonstrate the problem to my local mechanic, but when he shut down the engine, the problem resolved. i returned the car to the dealer. the computer did not have any repair codes stored, but they performed tsb 06-040, a computer software update. the car was fine until 6/25/10 when the problem reoccurred. it occurred three times throughout the day. i started tracking the occurrences: 6/27 x 1, 6/28 x1. i made a appointment with the service manager at the dealership on 6/29. i kept the car and it reproduced the problem 7/1 and 7/4@ 70,697miles. i made arrangements to allow them to take the car and get a loaner so that they could hopefully reproduce the problem. during this july 10 visit they had the car over 3 weeks and completed 2 software updates @ nc. on 9/2/10 @ 72,449 miles, the braking prob has reoccurred.

Nissan 2005 armada 4x4, 50 k miles. 94 degrees sunny weather in rancho cordova, brakes completely failed in the lowes parking lot. there was some grinding noise but no forceful grip of the rotors. brake light came on. i slowly pulled over into a available parking slot, turned off the vehicle turned it on again in 2 minutes and the problem disappeared. people have been reporting similar issues http://www.clubarmada.com/forums/showthread.php?t=16698 please investigate the issue before it results in serious accidents

When driving to work and going over a speed bump the brake light came on. the brake pedal went to the floor. i then started to feel the brake pedal vibrating, as if the abs had kicked on. this has happened several times. i proceed to pull to the side of the road and turned the ignition off. i learned that by doing so the computer resets itself and it goes away. i am concerned about this problem. i tow three quads in the weekend to have some fun, but i dont want to get into an accident when going down a hill on the way to my destination. i also carry my kids and that is my main concern. i have took it to the dealership and they don't see anything wrong with it? they could not duplicate because it doesn't happen often. i suggest checking the 05 on a downhill, that always seems to cause it to happen?

In the most recent incident, i was driving the vehicle at slow speed (approx. 10 mph). when brake pedal was depressed, it went to the floor and the nose of the vehicle dove down. front brakes made a loud banging sound and vibration could be felt in vehicle cabin. there was a considerable reduction in brake performance, to the point of failure. brake light in vehicle illuminated as well. these same symptoms have occurred at various speeds, under various driving conditions more than a dozen times over a period of one year. vehicle was taken into local dealer today and a full description of the problem was provided. dealer re-programmed vdc (code 1179) at a cost to me, but would not guarantee this would permanently fix the problem. if problem persists, dealer recommends delt stroke sensor/brake booster replacement at considerable cost to me. at higher speeds, this condition could be deadly.

Vehicle: 2005 nissan armada failure: complete failure of the brake system incident: while driving lost complete brake system, leaving me with no ability to stop the vehicle. the problem resolved itself by restarting the vehicle. resolution: i took the vehicle to the dealer and was told they could not repeat the issue and that they would reflash the ecm that should correct the problem. after researching this i found many other owner of 2004 - 2007 nissan armada and titan vehicle had the same problem. the problem is best described as an intermittent complete failure of the brake system that is resolved by restarting the vehicle. after many complaints to nissan and the dealer they decided to replace the power brake booster saying that any component failure that causes this must be contained in the brake booster. they also stated that they have replaced other customers brake boosters with the same problem. this is a major safety issue that nissan needs to make there customers aware of!!!! *tr

I have a 2005 nissan armada. while driving the abs and emergency brake light would start flashing. when i come to a stop the braking system starts to make a loud grinding noise like the abs has kicked in and wont disengage. the only way to temporarily correct this is to shut the vehicle off and then restart the vehicle. this has been identified as a recall for nissan armadas 2004 and older. *tr

I have a 2005 nissan armada. i was driving and starting to brake when all of a sudden my brake light came on and a loud grinding noise was heard from the front of my armada. i almost lost braking capability. i applied the brakes again and the same thing happened with the loud noise and limited braking ability. i pulled over on the side of the road, turned the vehicle off and restarted the truck and the problem was gone for that moment. a few weeks later, it happened again, so i took it into the nissan dealer and they told me it was a code error and it had been reset (it was still under warranty then). well, it has since happened about 10 more times. i had my husband take it to another nissan dealer and they told him it was the brake booster, and would cost approximately $900 to fix. we did not pay the money to have fixed. the last incident was this morning with my two small daughters in the truck with me. i was in 3 lanes of traffic and was starting to apply the brakes, when the brake light came on and the vdc light and two other panel lights. this morning, it was the worst it had been since it started. i normally have a little bit of brakes, but this morning when i tapped the brakes, it brought the vehicle to a complete sudden stop in 3 lanes of traffic, then, i let off the brake and tried to ease up and reapply the brakes and it brought it to a complete stop again. i turned the truck off and it cleared itself. i called my husband and told him. once i got to work, i started to do some research and i find that i am not the only person experiencing this problem! i count myself lucky this morning that i was not rear ended because i had my two small daughters in my truck with me!!!! nissan needs to do something about this!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! *tr

I have a 2005 nissan armada and the brakes have been giving me problems since i bought the suv. initially it was only warped rotors and excessive brake pad wear, but now the brakes have nearly failed on me three times. when i applied the brakes, it appears that the anti-lock brakes kick in, the brake pedal depresses further, and a loud groaning noise can be heard emanating from the brakes. this problem has occurred three times in the rain under very moderate braking condition (parking lot conditions) and when the parking brake has been used due to parking on a hill. when the event occurs the parking light , the slip, and vdc lights comes on. *tr

We have a 2005 nissan armada (which was purchased new) it has had an issue where the brake light comes on and there is rapid pulsating/grinding noise from the brake system. during this event, the brake stopping distance is severely impacted and braking is dangerously inconsistent. we have brought vehicle into nissan dealer and been told because there is no current stored code they could not do anything for us and that we needed to drive the vehicle in while this event occurred, so they could see what happened. there is no way it would be remotely safe to do so!!!! nissan you are requesting a very unsafe procedure!!!!!! each time this brake issue has happened (at least 6 with my wife and 1 with me), we were fortunate enough to pull the vehicle over and turn it off. in doing so it appears the vehicle reset and once turned back on the vehicle appeared to operate properly. here are our occurrences: - once on/or around 9/2005- didn't think much at this point as we already had heard about issues with rotors and thought that was connected - 4/23/2007- went to dealer - 8/13/2008- called dealer told to drive it in while it was happening by dealer - right before 10/8/2008 on 10/8 we brought into dealer for this problem and a couple other issues - 5/14/2009 - 5/18/2009 - 5/26/2009 it happened to me with both of my grade school boys on vacation in rush hour traffic in northern california. the vehicle had a very clear issue and i had to make some tough traffic negotiations to get off of the freeway. once off i turned off the vehicle and sat there for a short period of time. i turned it back on and luckily made it to my destination without further incident. i will be speaking with the nissan dealership again, to give them one last chance to try and fix this issue. they have done nothing as of yet and appear to lack any interest in fixing this problem. take a look at any forums or car complaint web-sites there are numerous such complaints for same issue. *tr

I was coming to a stop light and all of a sudden, the brake light indicator light on the dash came on, the vehicles brake system was acting erratic every time i pressed on the pedal. seems like the abs took over and assumed that the vehicle was loosing traction. the light stayed on and so was the problem with the brake system as i pressed the brake pedal. i pulled over to the curb and turned off the car, walked around assuming something was under the car and there was nothing. started the car and the and the brake light on the dash went away and so did the problem. this has happened to me twice and is very unsafe when driving in traffic. there is a forum on nissanhelp where this issue has happened to many people and the problem is not resolved when the vehicle is taken to the dealership to get the problem fixed. please help with this issue as it is unsafe to drive the vehicle because the light comes on unexpectedly and goes away when the vehicle is restarted and untraceable. *tr

Backing out of a driveway, i pushed on the brakes softly and it sounded like a deep, mechanical groan. i didn't really think anything of it until i reached my first stop. i applied pressure on the brake and the sound was there again. my children were in the vehicle and they kept asking what was wrong with the car. i decided it would be safer to take neighborhood side-streets. i proceeded very, very slowly because the breaks were unpredictable at that point. i was scared to apply all the pressure because i was afraid that if i pressed as i normally do , the brakes would just give out, so i pushed on the brake very lightly, which only made it worse because the softer i pressed the less it functioned, the pedal just kept going down- making that deep metal-grinding noise, it took a while for the breaks to actually kick it and stop the vehicle. i drove on egg-shells the rest of the way home, thank goodness there was not much traffic at the time, otherwise i would have been in serious trouble. i fear this happening in the freeway because that would be tragic- especially with children in the car. *tr

Regarding 2005 nissan armada brake issue...i was driving reaching to the speed of 35mph and when i came to a stop at intersection i notice that my brake light was on. applied the brakes and there was no brakes. you could hear noise coming from the front end like metal grinding. i pulled over the a parking lot and check under the hood to see if the brake fluid was low, but it was full. drove the car the elk grove nissan and told them what had happened. in response, they told me that they can not find a problem and continue driving the car until the light comes back on and drive it directly to the dealership so they can pull the cold. i told them that they are crazy, because this is a safety issue and i can put my life in danger by driving the suv there without proper brakes. they told me at the time, they can not help me until the light comes back on. i asked the dealership to see if there's a recall or bulletin out for this and they told me no. further investigation needs to follow up on this because tons of people who owns this model could die from accidents due to the suv having this problem. also, proper protocol needs to be follow with the mfg and dealership regarding this issue. please advise. this matter needs to be address to the dealership and fix the darn problem before many lives are lost due to this matter. they need to seek proper procedures before a big law suit is in place. *tr

2005 nissan armada. my airbag sensor light has turned on and remained on for no apparent reason. the vehicle has not been in an accident and was recently serviced by the local nissan dealership about a week ago. prior to the issue of the air bag light the braking system appears to be intermittent in stopping the suv, which is also felt in the brake pedal while braking. i have addressed this to the dealership but they could not identify the cause. this all may or may not be related but this is very important to the safety of driving. to my knowledge similar problems are addressed in the 2007 and 2008 nissans vehicles but nothing yet for my 05 armada. how can you help? i would hate for these problems to be the cause of an accident one day. these complaints are very similar to others on your web site. *tr

I have a 2005 nissan armada that is experiencing intermittent brake light/brake failure. the symptoms happen after initially turning on the vehicle and driving for about 200 yards. when the brakes are applied, the brake light will come on simultaneously with front brake noise. the brake pedal will be very mushy, but the vehicle will stop. after stopping and turning the vehicle off, the error resets. this problem has happened at least five times in the last two months. i've taken the vehicle to the dealer and they claim there isn't any error code stored so they can't diagnose the problem to fix it. i searched the internet to see if this was a known problem and have found many other incidents, including this website to report this safety concern. *tr

I was driving my 2005 nissan armada se when coming up to a stop light and had to apply my brakes to stop and they failed. the brake pedal shuddered and could hear a metal squeal coming from the front brakes. scared me to death. had my infant son with me and was really shaken that i almost hit another car in front of me. since i wasn't in a area to where i could pull over right away, i began to pull away from the stop light very slowly. when no cars were around and i felt it safe to apply my brakes again, the same thing happened! the brake light on the instrument panel came on and i felt a grinding noise, and shudder feeling when apply pressure on the brake pedal. i finally pulled the vehicle over right away and called for a tow truck to tow to dealer. explained to dealer what had happened and they told me they had heard about this type of problem before and that nissan had released a service bulletin about it. my service advisor told me that it was a vdc (vehicle dynamic control) module failure. he went on to say that sometimes you can turn off the vehicle and turn back on and it will reset itself. very scary!!! i purchased an extended warranty when i purchased my armada and the dealer told me that this was not covered and it would cost me $115 to fix. i think nissan would be well advised to issue a recall about this situation. i would hate to be going down the highway at 75 mph and have to apply my brakes suddenly and have them not work properly or scary yet someone gets killed. *tr

While backing out of a parking space and applying brakes, the brakes suddenly began to grind and shutter very loudly and wouldn't function properly - it was as if they were locked up. the brake light came on and i was only able to come to a stop by down shifting and applying the emergency brake at the same time. all the while it was grinding terribly. i had trouble with the brakes when we first purchased the car - but this is the first time since 2005. i proceeded very slowly to my local repair shop (rpm automotive) where they did a computer check on the braking system. they had seen this same problem on several armadas already this year. the referred me to the dealership since they did not have the code number needed to correct the problem. my car is currently at the dealership service department. i think if i had been on the highway that i would have had an accident. the dealership feels that this is no big deal and the brakes will be fine once they fix the computer. i am very frightened about driving it again. *tr

I rounded a corner at about 35 mph (pulling a trailer) and my antilock brakes system went haywire. the brakes were pulsing madly, and the truck slowed slightly. i pushed on the brake pedal and nothing happened. i could not stop the truck!! luckily, nobody was on the street and i was able to put it in neutral and turn the engine off while still moving about 25 mph and restart the engine at which time the system reset itself. upon going to the nissan dealer, i was informed that the vcd system (brake actuator) needed a software upgrade and that there was a service bulletin issued for this problem from nissan. i'm appalled that this dangerous problem where the driver cannot control the brakes or stop the vehicle is a known problem, yet there is no recall, or attempt to notify owners... someone is going to get hurt as a result of this. not to mention that nissan made me pay $170.00 to reprogram this faulty critical component... owners need to be made aware of this problem. i called customer service and they didn't want to hear it. *tr

While driving my 2005 nissan armada last fall, i tapped the brakes and encountered a severe vibration phenomena that i had never experienced on a vehicle before. i stopped. turned off vehicle. called for my husband to help. when he arrived, i started the car and the problem was gone. i took it to my local dealer in manchester, tn (roberts nissan 931-728-2212). at that time, the vehicle was still under warranty. they were unable to reproduce the vibration or to find the problem, but they went ahead and changed out some brake pads and did some repair on the rotors. i had no further problems until this month. this time my husband was with me when the same vibration occurred. he thought that it felt like the abs was trying to kick in for some unknown reason. i had never had an abs vehicle, so i wasn't familiar with that type of braking reaction. i called the dealer and told them that the exact same thing had happened again and that i was bringing the vehicle to them. this time they told me that they had seen that same type of thing on a titan truck recently. sure enough, after checking they discovered an abs transducer needed replacing. it was back ordered, and they gave me another car to drive because they felt that it would be unsafe for me to drive the vehicle. they were afraid of the problem occurring while driving at highway speed on the interstate. although the problem was first noticed and reported while under warranty, nissan would not fully cover the repair. it apparently was also a safety issue. i believe that the dealer was trying to help, but i am very disappointed with nissan and filed a complaint (file #5775171). i felt that my repair bill should've been covered entirely. i also wonder if perhaps a recall should be done based on the safety issue and the fact that the part was back ordered which leads me to believe there may be many others with the same problem. my repair bill was $782.67.

This will be my second complain filed for the same vehicle. at 14000 miles my vehicle once again is having brake failure i took in my vehicle and service manager suggested that it might be my brake pads and it will cost me aprox. $200 to $300 taking in my the my brake pads and rotors had already been replaced at 7000 miles. after being in the shop for 2 days they found nothing wrong with my pads, however i my problem still continued, when downhill i would feel grinding when braking and if i suddenly brake i felt it even more. to one point that i almost hit a car in front of me thank god i was able to stop because i was probably going about 10 mph. i finally took my vehicle back to the shop and this time they found the problem to be brake pads, and rotors but no charge is going to be made to me because it is covered by warranty. *nm

 1) just traded my car in for a brand new 2005 nissan armada in january 2006. the brake light on the dashboard lights up while driving. it has about 4000 miles on it. the problem started at 600 miles. i bought the suv with over 400 miles on it. 2) the brake light on the dashboard lights up while driving. as you apply the brakes, the brake pedal vibrakes and makes a clicking/mechanical noise. this happens every 5-7 days. it has happened several times with my family (we have a 5 yr-old and a 2 yr-old) in the suv. we have had to stop in the middle of the intersection or pull over to the side of the road, while blocking the right lane many times. 3) to temporarily correct the problem, you would have to pull over asap. there were times where i had to just stop the vehicle as the suv would just vibrate and the braking appears to be weak. once pulled over, you have to stop the ignition and restart the car. i took it to my dealer and they said they only had to replace the fuses. then about 1-2 weeks later, i had to drive it to another dealer, where they described the rotors as being warped. they put in a new brake kit but the problem remains. *nm

When applying brakes there is vibration in steering. *ts ***no answer required*** updated 11/7/2005 - the vehicle was taken to the dealer twice within 3 months for this problem. the dealer replaced the rotors but the problem resurfaced. the dealer also installed a new brake kit with brake pads per service bulletin information. the consumer sent a letter to the manufacturer requesting immedaite restitution beacuse the dealer failed to conform to a safety defect within a reasonable number of repair attempts. the consumer received a response stating that nissan was aware of the safety defect and had responded by extending the warranty on the component and by having bosch, co. develop a replacement part. *nm

I own a nissan armada suv (model le 5.6 v8). the car was purchased new in 3/2005 and now has some 3000 miles. we experienced strong vibration of the steering wheel while braking and took the car to the service dept. at the reno (nv) dealership. yesterday, the dealership told us that nissan has a problem with all armada & titan models of 2004/2005 and the problem is causing all brakes to vibrate as the brake discs touch the brake pads. this is apparently something that nissan knows for a while because all the parts are on back order and will not be available for a few months and involves > 100,000 vehicles. the dealer told us that the problem may come back in a few months / thousands of miles and for the meantime the brakes were warped which is a temporary fix. we are interested to investigate why (a) nissan has not declared a formal recall to fix the problem and make customers aware that a problem exists and (b) to find out if the problem is hazardous to life and if other people complained about the same problem. thank you. *nm

There are multiple issues with the nissan armada 2005 vehicle. 1st, the brakes have gone out numerous times and have had to be replaced. 2nd, numerous rattles throughout the vehicle have gone unfixed by nissan service - some rattles are serious enough to where the front driver's side door opens a inch or so over a large bump in the road (something could be wrong with the latching mechanism or form fit between the door and body). the rear cargo door has rattle and vibration issues. 3rd) a serious visibility issue through the front windshield has been ignored by nissan service and customer service. there is a serious visiual problem through the front windshield that causes double vision (some sort of optical issue with carlex glass) - nissan has refused to repair due to comparison with other armadas have the same issue.

Had a near miss vehicle accident due to the vdc (vehicle dynamic control) module/computer failure and caused brake system to malfunction and not stop car. while traveling 30 mph +/- in a left turn lane and tried to stop at a red light. the brakes did not grab right, had a severe metal squeal. the brake pedal shuddered. the car went through the stop line into the intersection and oncoming traffic. the one car coming head on was able to stop. they made an emergency stop. had to turn left into the parking lot and to a clear area in the lot to let vehicle slow on its own and finally stop. vehicle brake lamp was lit on the instrument cluster. put vehicle into park and light stayed lit. put vehicle back in drive and tested brakes. they still would not brake correctly and had that loud noise with a shudder felt on the pedal. called the dealer where car has been in for same complaint 2 times. they asked if i could drive it in, i said no and had to pay for a tow. when car was at dealer and restarted brake light was off and no problem with brakes. dealer did a check of codes from onboard computer. had a c-1179. i was told there was a known issue with this complaint and the vdc failure. there was a tsb for this condition, it had been out for more than a year. we have had the car in for a complaint of sudden brake pedal shudder and screech noise 2 times in the last year. nissan dealer said it was a brake and rotor problem and had a tsb for the replacement. dealer did tsb work for a brake judder 2 times. told dealer this was the worst time this happened. that prior times the brake light was gone when we restarted the car and the brake problem was gone. bought car pre-owned. car showed a brake rotor tsb was done. current dealer performed 2 more brake rotor tsb's. i question whether other complaints of a brake pedal shudder vs judder is not a mild form of the vdc failure? thanks to the other driver on being alert and making this a near miss accident and not a full on collision. *tr

Purchased a 2005 nissan armada in december 2004. noticeable shaking in steering wheel column when braking. this usually occurs when braking from speeds greater than 40 mph. took the car to the dealer where i purchased it from and they acknowledged that there has been an issue with steering wheel shaking, which the service advisor explained, is due to rotor becoming heated and warped. he said that they have a temporary fix for the problem - changing brake pads, rotors, and installing a bolt somehwere, and that nissan was working on a permanent fix. i wish i new about this issue before i dished out the big bucks. hopefully, this problem does not pose a deadly hazard in the not to distant future.*ak

I own a 2005 nissan armada (16,000 miles) with brake problems. i purchased the vehicle on august 22, 2006. it was taken to a nissan dealer two days later with brake problems. the dealer replaced the front rotors and pads, the rear rotors were resurfaced with new pads. i picked the vehicle up on friday, and returned with it back to the dealer on monday. my armada was not fixed. the steering wheel still was violently shaking, and the front brake pedal was spongy,as well as the brakes over heating. the dealer had the armada for three days to fix/replace a front caliper new pads again, and wheel balance. i believe more work was done, however the work order does not reflect any other repairs. what really disturbs me is that i found out that in october of 2005 the armada had the brakes replaced by the original owner. the vehicle was not even a year old at that time. this makes 3 repairs for the same problem in less than two years. nissan states the brakes issues are corrected, i think that every 10k i will have to have the brakes replaced over and over. nissan stated that no other pads or rotors will be covered under a warranty, since they were fixed twice already. i will say the dealer has been very good so far,but what happens when i need brakes again. i am aware of other armada owners with this same issue. what can be done to finally correct this safety problem. *jb

I own a 2005 nissan armada with 7000 miles and the brake rotors seem to be warped already. i have a cousin who has a 2004 titan and has had plenty of brake problems also. when braking, especially at higher speeds, the steering wheel has a lot of vibration. after doing research on the internet there seems to be a lot of other people with the same problem. but nissan has yet to recall these vehicles with these problems. there are service bulletins out to replace the front and rear rotors and brake pads but after reading many of the complaints posted by other people they only want to turn the rotors which is not the solution. i would like to know what my rights are and how to get nissan to correct the problem right the first time. *jb

The brakes on my 2005 armada warped at about 5,000 miles. i took it to the dealership and was informed they have an upgrade kit to fix the problem because the stock brakes are too small for the vehicle. when i picked up the vehicle, i was informed that they only turned the rotors because they didn't have the parts and now cannot give me the upgrade because there is no visible problem and nissan will not authorize the work. i was never asked if i wanted the rotors turned. it appears that they are trying to avoid a recall by making it look like they are fixing the problem, but then only doing what costs them the least. *nm
