On the listed date above our family was on en route to our vacation destination, traveling in our armada with camper in tow. while going thru the mountains in virginia we had lost all power to our transmission causing us to pull over onto the shoulder of the expressway. after some time we where finally able to get towed to a dealership in covington. as soon as the service manager looked at the vehicle he new exactly what had happened. he explained that the tail pipe had disconnected from the muffler and that the hot exhaust burned up the wire harness that controlled all the power to the transmission. this they had seen and fixed 4 to 5 times at this dealership. my complaint is that the piping from the muffler some how eroded away and disconnected allowing the exhaust to burn up the wire harness, as well as the hose that supplies the compressed air to the air shocks. this to me is a very serious safety issue. fortunately we were in the right hand lane and no other vehicles were near to cause a potential accident. we were able to get over safely although we had lost all transmission power going up this mountain. not sure if anybody else has reported this safety issue. but nissan must know about it based on the service manager seeing this that many times. why would one have your electric wiring running so close to a potential hot source that could disable your vehicle while driving? i recently was talking to a coworker who has a 2004 armada and told him about what happened to us. he had said that he just had his tail pipe welded back on but had it done at a muffler shop so this was not documented at a dealership. he had said that he could smell something burning but he had no other issues. he was lucky and he may want to check it out because of the experience that i had. please look into this because i feel it is a serious safety issue.

I needed to stop and my brakes wouldn't work completely. they slowed me down a little but did not function completely. the pedal pumped up and down made a weird noise and the brake light came on. if i had been traveling at a faster speed and been following closer, i would have wrecked.

When driving and when the brake is applied to stop the brake light comes on and the brakes sound like they are scrubbing and the brake petal goes to the floor the vehicle slows a little but it is still rolling. the vehicle then has to be put in park, the engine then has to be turned off. you then have to wait a few seconds and restart vehicle. if this is not done the light doesnt go off and the braking is the same. also the front passenger door lock works randomly. i have this problem also with my infiniti g35 which is also made by nissan, i have two friends that own nissan vehicles that experience the same problem with their door lock on the front passenger side.

While driving down the road i would be approaching a stop sign or light and i applied the brake and suddenly hear a loud grinding noise. when i pull over and turn the vehicle off and then start over, it was like it reset itself. i freaked out because i had children with me. nissan, please figure this out!!! also when i try to turn my air on or off i hear a very loud clicking noise. even while driving down the road without touching the air it just randomly does it.

At any given time, the brake light will appear on the instrument panel. during this time extra effort is required to apply the brakes when trying to stop. when the brakes are applied, there is a horrible grinding sound coming from the front of the vehicle. turning the engine off and back on can sometimes fix it but on this particular day it did it 5 times in a row. this problem has been known to happen to drivers of 2005 nissan armadas for a few years and nissan has yet to perform/issue any corrective actions. when you take the vehicle to have the problem diagnosed they tell you it's the brake booster and it will cost $900+ to fix. it amazed me that it didn't take long for them to tell me the solution when i told them the problem...so obviously the dealership has heard of the problem before....why hasn't/isn't nissan doing anything to help its customers?

Previously reported under complaint #odi id number : 10339985. a summary of the problem:the issue/problem: the brake light comes on. when brakes are used, there is decreased braking power. the brakes make a crunching, springy noise with the pedal being extremely soft until it gets closer to the floor and begins to give braking power. when ignition is turned off, the problem resolves at least temporarily. when the engine has turned off, i have had the problem reoccur as soon as 5 minutes and as long as 31 months. i made a video of one of my instances @ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bmtpofdbjr8 i first experienced the braking problem back in 3/06 with ~12,000 miles on the vehicle. the dealer was not able to duplicate the issue, but it had happened to me 3-4 times prior to getting it to the dealer. during the visit, they performed the judder brake bulletin service. the description of the judder brake bullentin did not seem to fit my problem, but the car no longer had the issue. then the issue reoccurred at ~46,000 miles in 10/08. again the brakes did not have full power for 3-5 times prior to getting it to the dealer. i was able to demonstrate the problem to my local mechanic, but when he shut down the engine, the problem resolved. i returned the car to the dealer. the computer did not have any repair codes stored, but they performed tsb 06-040, a computer software update. the car was fine until 6/25/10 when the problem reoccurred. it occurred three times throughout the day. i started tracking the occurrences: 6/27 x 1, 6/28 x1. i made a appointment with the service manager at the dealership on 6/29. i kept the car and it reproduced the problem 7/1 and 7/4@ 70,697miles. i made arrangements to allow them to take the car and get a loaner so that they could hopefully reproduce the problem. during this july 10 visit they had the car over 3 weeks and completed 2 software updates @ nc. on 9/2/10 @ 72,449 miles, the braking prob has reoccurred.

The ac has been cutting high and going low all on its own. sometimes not coming on at all. i was told it is the vbc and that it is fried. no air no part in the dead of summer in the south. i asked if there was a recall because of the leaking condensor at which that coukd cause my problem. i was told no and no further assistance. if there is no recall or no one else is having this problem. why is this part on back order with no etd.

3/28/2006 when braking there is intermittentally a pulsation,75% decreased braking abililty, brake light on. braking decrease is a hazard! : dealer found steering wheel shakes when braking. installed updated brake kit & brake judder bullentin. still occurring every once in a while . . .once ever several months, but cannot reproduce exact symptoms at dealer. 10/20/2008: when braking there is intermittentally a pulsation, decreased braking abililty, brake light on. symptom appeared and stopped at local mechanic. he tested car, but symptoms disappear when car shut off and restarted. dealer found no codes present. not able to reproduce problem. performed tsb 06-040 and advised it may not fix problem. software updated and problem seemed to be resolved until 6/25/2010: when braking there is intermittentally a pulsation,75% decreased braking abililty, brake light on. braking decrease is a hazard! reading about same problem in forums without a good solution. hate to be a death or injury to get this problem noticed. will take back to the dealer, but expect the same not sure it is fixed response.

I'm driving less than 5 miles in the school parking lots and all suddenly my brakes make a loud noise and the the brake lights turn on. i had to turn my car off and turn it back on. this is unsafety for my family while this incident happened, my daughters were in the car with me. i was afraid for the life of my daughters. this incidents regarding the brake happened to me more than 5 times already. nissan should had this recall. i had my mechanic check it out, he gaves me a code c1179 delta stroke sensor signal fault meaning the brake booster and abs unit .
