| Tl- the contact owns a 2000 nissan frontier. the contact stated that after exiting the vehicle, he smelled a strong gasoline fuel odor. the smell dissipated after a short period of time but later returned. the vehicle was taken to a dealer for diagnosis and the contact was informed that the fuel tank had corrosion and was causing gasoline vapors to escape the tank. as a result, the fuel tank would need to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure and current mileage was 94,000. kmj | |||

| Tl- the contact owns a 2000 nissan frontier. the contact stated that while parked, the check engine light illuminated and a strong fuel odor could be noticed. upon inspection, it was found that the top of the fuel tank was corroded. the vehicle was not taken to a mechanic and was not repaired. the manufacturer was contacted and informed the contact that the vehicle had been previously repaired under nhtsa campaign id number: 04v230000 (fuel system, gasoline:delivery:fuel pump). the contact was also informed that the recall only covered the fuel pump. the approximate failure mileage was 98,000. mah | |||
