| Tl- the contact owns a 2000 nissan frontier. the vehicle has the original michelin x radial tires size p215/65/r15. the dot was unknown. the contact stated that he purchased all four tires brand new in june 2006. approximately four years later, he noticed that all four tires were dry rotted. the tires were rotated every 7,000 miles and the contact was not advised of any failures within the tires. the manufacture was contacted who offered to provide the contact with a fifty percent discount. the mileage on the vehicle when the tires were purchased was 76,378 and the current mileage was 97,815. bw | |||

| While cleaning truck, i noticed hundreds of small cracks in the tire sidewall area on all four tires. all small cracks were on the sidewall that was exposed. no cracks were observed on the inner sidewall area. no failure noted as of now but i'm leary about keeping these tires on the vehicle for safety reasons. the tires are michelin xcx/apt truck/suv tires that were installed on 10/2004 and they have only 33,268 miles on them so far (60k mile warranty). the vehicle is a 2000 nissan frontier xe, v6, 2wd. the tire size is p235/75r15. *tr | |||

| During new york state motor vehicle inspection of above mentioned vehicle, it was pointed out by the licensed inspector that the tires on said vehicle showed an abnormal and excessive amount of cracking/checking in the deep portion of the tread(inner and outer grove of each tire). for a tire with these few miles and less than one year old the inspector felt that, eventhough they passed inspection, i should persue the matter further with regard to warrantee agreements. the inspector seem to feel that there was reason to be concerned about this tire if i was going to do some towing later in the year. i called nissan motor-filed a report with them-they sent me to call on bf goodrich-filed a report with them.-bf goodrich sent me to a dealer that handles there claims-he looked at the tire and told me that it was dry rot and that it was normal-i have since gone to another nys motor vehicle inspection station, they seem to feel that this is not normal for a tire with these few miles and this age..i have since been looking at tires of other vehicles with even more miles and do not see any cracking/checking to the extent that i do with these tires..can someone please help?*ak (dot number: apm1hl1123 tiresize: p235/70r15) | |||

| The two rear tires were out of round at 6,943 (3/29/00) and replaced. at 12,289 (7/25/00) the driver's side front tire had a flat which was repaired. 3 out of 4 new tires isn't a fluke. i replaced the tires with michelen symmetry tires on 9/12/00. the dealer & manufacturer haven't responded personally to this problem. they seemed unconcerned about my safety concerns. *ak (dot number: w2vf tiresize: p215/65r15) | |||

| B.f. goodrich, radial long trail t/a tires p235/70r15, dot unknown, original equipment on a 2000, nissan, frontier with 18000 miles. while driving 65 mph left rear sidewall separated from tread all the way around. no accident.*ak the consumer believes that part of the tire failure was caused by the tire tread design and the grooved freeway surface, at 65 mph with proper tire inflation pressure the truck vibrates badly, the consumer is unaware that the tire is losing pressure until the tire blewout the sidewall. *nlm | |||

| Sudden tread separation on firestone wilderness ht p215-65r15 tires factory installed as original equipment on 2000 nissan frontier xe 2wd drive vehicle. while driving on i-10 east at 75 mph from phoenix to tucson az, the treads on the front passenger side tire separated with no warning. the vehicle developed a slight wobble similar to that experienced when the wheels are not balanced properly and within minutes, the tread separated and came off completely. the flying shards of tread ripped the molding under the bumper partially off, damaged the right turn light mechanism and caused minor dents and paint work damage to the vehicle. lost control of the vehicle for a brief instant but as there were no other vehicles in the immediate vicinity thankfully there was no serious damage or bodily injury. completed trip on spare tire and immediately replaced all 4 tires on the vehicle. tires had ~37000 miles on them and had plenty of tread left as the miles were mostly slow city miles. the damaged tire is available for inspection. *nm | |||

| My 9 year old son and i took a trip up north to sd. on our first day out approx. 70 miles away form the border the driver side tire's tread flew off causing my 2000 nissian truck to vere in front of an oncoming semi truck. we avoided the collision and removed the damaged tire. this was the second time that it has happend. this time we were moving at a speed of 70 miles per hour and the tread came back on the truck, scratched the front quarter panel with the steel sticking out, tore of the metal bar holding the fender on, tore the fender half way off and dented the underside ofthe driver side door. about a month earler the passanger side tire did the same thing. i was moving at a lower rate of speed and no damage occurred that time. the next day we replaced the tire with a used one from a local tire shop and continued our journey. two days later on our vacation i lost the rear passanger tire in the same fashion. we again made it to a tire shop where they replaced the tire with a used tire. by this time someone had told me that the firestoen tire were recalled because of the reason that the tread comes off. i had the tire shop remove my last remaining firestone wilderness tire and replace the back tires with a matching set. | |||
