Defect SummaryNissan is recalling certain model year 2006 and model year 2008 frontier, xterra and pathfinder vehicles. the molded fuel tank shells can deform, causing the fuel sender float arm to contact an embossment molded into the tank shell causing the instrument panel fuel gauge to show that the vehicle has approximately one quarter tank when the fuel tank is empty.
Consequence SummaryThis could cause the vehicle to run out of gas and stall in traffic, increasing the risk of a crash.
Corrective SummaryDealers will replace the fuel level sending unit inside the fuel tank with a new one that has a modified float arm. this service will be performed free of charge. the safety recall is expected to begin on or before march 22, 2010. owners may contact nissan at 1-800-647-7261.

Defect SummaryOn certain king cab trucks, in a severe side impact crash, there is a possibility that deformation of the vehicle's body could cause the fuel filler cap tether to be stretched to the point of unscrewing the fuel filler cap.
Consequence SummaryThis may result in a fuel spill which in the presence of an ignition source could result in a fire.
Corrective SummaryDealers will replace the fuel cap tether pin assembly with a modified one free of charge. the recall began on april 24, 2006. owners may contact nissan at 1-800-647-7261.

Tl-the contact owns a 2006 nissan frontier. while driving approximately 55-60 mph he noticed the fuel gauge drop. he stated the vehicle service light came on. the vehicle was taken to a local mechanic and the diagnostic stated the sensor was low. the failure has been on going for two weeks. the vehicle has not been repaired. he reference recall 10v075000, fuel system, gasoline:storage:auxillary tank and was advised by the manufacture that his vehicle was not part of a recall. the failure mileage was 55,000 and the current mileage was 60,000. vwb

I recently had a service engine light appear and when i had it diagnosed at the dealer i was told it was a fuel sensor failure that is located in the gas tank.. i of course agreed to have it serviced which they did and reset the engine light. i was researching another issue with my vehicle when i stumbled across a recall on this same year truck for the same items i just paid for. the recall by nissan ntb10-031a issued in may 19, 2010. this recall extended into 2011. it seems ironic that within a few months period i had a fuel system failure that required the same service and exactly the same parts replaced as described in the recall. i feel this was just too close and too much of a coincidence to not fall into this recall.

My truck began to shake and tremble when i was trying to back into my drive way. the truck had been making noises and i had taken the truck in to be check by 3 different mechanics. i was told that they could not find anything and one stated he heard the noise but did not know what it was. the truck continue to make the noise of a grinding and shuttering sound. did not drive but to work and home due to the problems. the noise would stop when the overdrive was turned off. lately the truck sounds like the transmission is going. the fuel gauge does not work. it was in a recall but nissan would not repair even though i was mailed the recall after my mileage was too high for the repair which makes no sense to me because if they sent the notice out late, what does my mileage have to do with their neglience to repair their faulty vehicles? could not repair, the cost was over $600. had to replace a wheel bearing, over $400. tire gauge light on. i have had nothing but trouble with this truck. i will never purchase another nissan product. when dealing with the nissan recall people i felt as though they could care less. working on a fix budget and unable to pay for high cost of repair. what can you do when the big companies refuse to repair their trucks and cars? i was informed there was noone to help me. have run out of gas several time due to the gas gauge. i have read other's complaints on nissans and i am surprise that noone forces them to repair their vehicles. this is my only form of transporation and without the repairs, i will be riding the bus. tired in virginia. thanks for listening.

The fuel sending unit fails to indicate the amount of fuel in the fuel tank. nissan frontier ex. nissan north america has sent me a letter regarding this failure and have extended the warranty, however now that i went to a dealer for the repair, nissan has been very uncooperative and giving me the runaround, refusing to pay for the repair even after they assigned a file # to my case.

This complaint is in regards to nhtsa campaign # 10v-075. summary of the issue we are having is the same as the one stated in the recall. due to a problem with the fuel sender float arm, our fuel guage is showing that the vehicle has about 1/4 of a tank when the fuel tank is empty. we took the nissan frontier to a dealer to get this problem fixed and that told us that they would not fix the problem for free (as stated would happen in the recall notice) because the vehicle had too many miles on it. they confusingly tried to discribe that the issue was a warranty extension and not a recall. we then call nissan national customer affairs and they confused things even more. i was told by a service rep manager that there was 2 service programs for the problem we were having. one was a recall that would be fixed without date or mileage limits. in this situation, the problem caused the fuel guage to be stuck on full. the other was a warrantly extension that had a date or mileage limitation. in this situation, the fuel gauge would be stuck at about 1/4 tank when the tank was really less than that or empty. this is completely inaccurate information regarding what is stated in this safety recall campaign. i was told by the national service rep manager that nissan will not fix this problem under this recall campaign.

I purchased the vehicle in 2007 with 40,000 miles on it. it has been shimmying on the highway since i hit 60,000 miles and in spite of having my tires re-aligned and balanced, it still continues to rock back and forth at speeds over 50 miles an hour. i just hit my 100,000 mile mark on the first of october. on october 18th, i was at my son's daycare and the truck started idling strangely. the truck was puttering and exhausting black smoke. it died in the parking lot and i tried numerous times to get it started. it took about 20 minutes of trying but i got it running again, only to have it die on me in traffic. once again, i got it started and managed to get it home where it completely died. when i was able to get it to the dealership (after a local mechanic looked at it and couldn't get it started) the dealership told me i had an engine idle air control sensor that was recalled by nissan. i never received the recall notice but was relieved that my bill was covered. less than a week after the sensor had been replaced, the check engine light came on. i brought it back to the dealership and they told me my catalytic converters had burned out. from what i have been able to research online, the failure of my catalytic converters is directly related to an out of tune engine (too much air or fuel) which was caused by the sensor being defective. nissan doesn't see it that way and now i'm stuck with a $3500 repair bill on a truck i still owe money on and have owned for less than four years.

After filling gas tank it drops to empty and service engine light comes on. after 43 miles it goes back up and then seems to work until next fill up. if idling in park for a few minutes it drops to empty again. then the next day it goes back up again. it is constant problem and i never know how much gas i have other than tracking milage. recall many others with same problem. thanks

The fuel gauge gets stuck on 1/4 tank or shows no gas even when full. there is a recall on this year model for this problem but nissan will not replace it because they say it was manufactured in the correct month. they did say the problem was more vehicles then the recall covered and for those vehicles they extended the warranty to 72 months or 72,000 miles so the dealership could fix it. seeing as my vehicle has 90,000 miles they said they have no intentions of fixing this problem under the recall.

Fuel guage failure on 2006 nissan frontier 4door pickup truck. i called several nissan dealerships and all of them told me it was the fuel sending unit without ever seeing the truck! after doing some online research it seems this is a common problem on this vehicle, i feel this is a safety hazard as someone could run out of fuel on a busy road and be hit from behind and or wreck trying to maneuver the vehicle from the roadway.  This is a complaint about the same problem i'm having with my 2006 nissan frontier. i called nissan and mentioned the recal notice for this and they would not guarantee that it would be covered. at this point the only way i can be sure that my vehicle has gas in it is to track the miles every time i fill up the fuel tank. the fuel gauge is useless and if i fill it up it immediately says it is empty, the yellow light comes on and my check engine light comes on. even the nissan recall notice says this is a safety issue but when i called them they said i might not be covered..... 2006 nissan frontier with fuel guage not working correctly at approx 80,000 miles on vehicle. initially service engine soon light came on intermittently when the fuel reached approx 1/4 tank full. now, ses light stays illuminated and actual gas guage intermittently works. this is well documented problem addressed many many times on vehicle forums. this is a serious safety issue as i have no idea of how much gas is in my vehicle and the potential exists for an accident on a major road due to a real gas outage. there has been a safety bulletin about this but no recall yet to my understanding and has occurred throughout many different nissan truck models from the xterra, pathfinder, and frontier

My frontier is experiencing a fuel gauge and/or a fuel sending unit failure. the gauge will read empty when there is fuel and in turn will indicate there is fuel when it is running out. i have run out of fuel on at least 3 occasions one of which was quite dangerous at highway speeds. i contacted nissan and they offered to pay half of the costs (which they say were unknown) to repair this. i believe this failure falls under nhtsa campaign id number 10v075000 and is a safety recall. thus nissan should be held fully accountable to repair the vehicle of a known safety problem. the above failure date and mileage are approximate.

On approximately 10/9/2010, my fuel gauge stopped working correctly (approx. 39k miles on the vehicle). with about 1/4 tank full, i filled the tank but the gauge did not register full. after a day or two, the gauge registered correctly. it has been working intermittently since this time and now there is a service engine soon light appearing. this problem is widely reported by nissan truck owners.

2006 nissan frontier with fuel guage not working correctly at approx 55,000 miles on vehicle. initially service engine soon light came on intermittently when the fuel reached approx 1/4 tank full. now, ses light stays illuminated and actual gas guage intermittently works. this is well documented problem addressed many many times on vehicle forums. this is a serious safety issue as i have no idea of how much gas is in my vehicle and the potential exists for an accident on a major road due to a real gas outage. there has been a safety bulletin about this but no recall yet to my understanding and has occurred throughout many different nissan truck models from the xterra, pathfinder, and frontier.

2006 nissan frontier le 4x4 with may 2006 build date. fuel guage stopped registering upon fill up. guage needle drops to empty with low fuel light within 2 miles of fill up, followed by service engine soon light. after 3-5 days of driving, guage intermittently starts reading actual fuel level and ses light goes off. consequent weekly fill ups have exact same results. nissan dealer says an active recall for fuel sending units does not cover my vin. impossible to tell how much fuel is in tank exactly on any given day. i use miles driven as guage, and reset upon fill up weekly for a rough estimate.
05/20/2010385001
Check engine light is illuminated due to faulty fuel sending unit. the fuel sending unit controls the vehicle fuel gauge and provides information to run on board emissions diagnostics. dealerships refuse to cover the repair under warranty. consumers are unable to register a vehicle when the check engine light is on because the vehicle will not pass a smog test. safety becomes an issue due to the fuel gauge not accurately providing the correct level of fuel in the tank. a recall has already issued for a similar fuel issue on this vehicle - i believe the fix requires replacement of the fuel pump and includes the fuel sending unit. *tr

As my vehicle uses gas the gauge sticks at about 5/16 to 3/8 full. this action causes the fuel gauge to then do unusual things such as fall to empty and throw a fault code to the obd ii. or the fuel level on the gauge will stay at approx. 5/16 to 3/8 full for a prolonged time while driving. i have contacted nissan but they say the trucks build date falls outside of the vehicles which have been recalled. it sure seems to me that i too have a gas tank with the deformaty which causes the fuel float to catch' or stick'.

2006 nissan frontier fule sending unit quits working after approx 4 years causing incorrect fuel gauge reading and sevice engine light to illuminate. dangerous as incorrect guage reading could cause vehicel to run out of fuel.

I filled up my truck and the fuel guage does not repond properly. it may tell me i have more or less gas than i actually do. i can turn the key off and recrank the engine and have a different reading. recently it caused my service engine soon light to come on. also if i am driving a long distant the guage sometimes will go from empty and start going to full as i drive.

Nissan frontier 2006 all have a common defective part, the fuel level sensor. i have this truck and at approximately 43,000 miles, the sensor went out giving me the service engine soon, code number p0463. the nissan dealer said it would $350 to replace, at my expense. after further research in internet forums, this is a common defect with all 2006 frontiers with the sensor going out at approx 42,000-43,000 miles. the fuel gauge no longer functions, leaving the owner not knowing how full the fuel tank is. there are post on various forums of drivers being stranded with an empty tank due to this defective part. nissan has recalled some of the vehicles for this defect but when i advised nissan customer service that my truck had the same defect, i was told that my vin was not part of the recall. it is clear that the recall needs to be broadened to all vehicles produced in that year. *tr

Gas gauge sporadically would not register the gas when we filled up the tank. quoted $500 to repair. heard radio news a couple of months ago that nissan was recalling vehicles due to seat belts, gas gauges and exterior lights. the problem now is continuously - when gas gauge reaches 1/2 tank, it drops to empty. problem has not been corrected yet.

Nissan frontier 2006 fuel guage no longer working. service engine soon light came on. took vehicle to dealer. vehicle has 50k miles on it. dealer told me that this was not a recall, and since the truck is no longer under warranty, this would cost me $450 out of pocket. from reading posts on the web, i see that this is a very common problem with nissans from 2005-2007. i have no way of being sure i have sufficient fuel, which would seem, to me, to be a safety issue. what if i am caught in inclement weather with no fuel? i was told there was no danger in driving the vehicle *as is*...... and am trying to find out why this would not be a recall issue if so many vehicles were affected by the same thing.

Nissan 2006 frontier se crew cab. check engine light comes on; and check has a p0463 code. gas gauge does not give accurate fuel level. occurs all the time. sometimes the check engine light goes out, but will light up especially if near empty or after filling up. no correction; except to spend $800 at nissan dealer to replace part of the fuel tank assembly.

Year, make and model: 2006 nissan frontier error: erratic fuel gauge reading. show 1/4 tank even when empty or totally empty when it was just filled. action taken: spoke with nissan on the symptoms and the error code received from diagnostics (p0463) which states that it is the fuel level sending unit, but they informed me that my vin is not on the list, and i would need to file a complaint form on nhtsa to get resolved. *tr

Fuel gauge on 2006 nissan frontier does not always work, leading you to believe you have more or less fuel than actually in the tank. my truck is not included in the recall announced on march 2, 2010, yet has the same problem. i've spent $250 to have this repaired and feel i should be compensated. *tr

I have a 2006 nissan frontier. while driving down the road the truck shudders and shakes and cannot shift into gear. i had no pick up while driving on the interstate and had cars speeding by me at 75mph while i was barely able to drive the truck. the truck would drive fine and than this would happen out of nowhere. i took it to aamco and found out i had water in the transmission due to a leak in the radiator. i had to pay $2500.00 to have my transmission rebuilt and a new radiator installed. i feel this should be a recall on nissans part because it was a faulty radiator that caused the problem and could have caused a severe accident. i have heard of alot of complaints regarding this same problem but nissan refuses to due a recall. i have the same fuel gauge problem that was just recalled and i ran out of gas because of it. i feel that this needs to be investigated before someone is killed in an accident because their transmission just stops working while driving on the interstate. *tr

06 nissan frontier fuel sending unit failed, 460,000 miles. the gas gauge shows 1/4 full when i just put in a full tank of gas. it should show a full tank of gas, but it doesn't it just shows a 1/4 tank full. this is a known problem that nissan should take care of. i'm surely not the only person too complain about this problem. what does it take to get a recall on this problem? *tr

06 frontier fuel sending unit gone haywire. gas gauge not working properly. have seen hundreds of the complaints w/same problem. nissan doesn't seem to worried about the problem, seeing there is no recall. sure hope me or my family is not stuck in a vulnerable situation because of it. i'm hearing that its a short in the wiring of the unit inside the fuel tank that doesn't sound to good to me. vehicle is out of warranty. *tr

2006 nissan frontier. problem with service engine soon(ses) light, napa diagnosed issue with a faulty fuel sending unit. this issue did initiate a recall on 2005 nissan vehicles (systemic to all), but not for later models (like mine). cost of repair: $400 or more at a dealership, at least $250 non-dealership. not covered under warranty if over 30k miles. problem typically occurs after 2-3 years of vehicle ownership. *tr

I have a 2006 nissan frontier, my gas gauge and vehicle computer that reads the gas level is not working. it left my new born baby boy and wife on the side of i-95 in port orange florida because it showed gas in the tank when there was none. upon doing research i found this is a problem that occurs in many nissan model spread out around the year of our truck. i feel that this is a problem that needs to be taken care of by the dealer though a recall on the fuel sending unit. this is not an isolated problem but one that reaches many nissan owners. *tr thank you

I have a 2006 nissan frontier. i had 1/4 of a tank of gas and went to fill up. after filling up my gas tank, i turned on the car, at which point the needle did not register the full tank. after driving a couple miles, the check engine light came on. i went directly to the dealer and was told that it was a fuel sending unit/sensor and that it was no longer covered after 41k miles. after returning home and doing research, i went online to x.nissanhelp.com after performing a search, i came across many others who have experienced the same problem. apparently it has something to do with the fuel sending unit. a similar problem was found on the 2000-2004 xterra models and a recall was performed when the vehicle would stop after not getting any fuel, posing a great danger. it seems that something in the unit is faulty and will corrode over time. there is a general consensus that everyone who is having the problem is experiencing the same thing after having the vehicle for over 2 yrs and with around 39k-49k. if this problem existed in previous models, and it was recalled, the 2005-2007 xterras, frontiers, and pathfinders should get this fixed at no charge to the customer!! why wait for accidents and possible deaths, especially since the problem lies in an integral part of the vehicle. cost of repair ranges from $300-600. *tr

Defect on level sensor of the fuel tank, caused the check engine light to come on, and the fuel meter to malfunction. this defect could lead to run out of gas at any time putting any passenger in danger while in the highway. this is a very common problem with nissan path finder, frontiers and many others especially 2005 to 2007 models. nissan dealers are charging about 600.00 dollars to fix something that they do defective and continue to do defectively. *tr

My 2006 nissan frontier has a problem with the fuel sending unit. the fuel sensor (part number 25060-zs00a) that is attached goes bad and gives inaccurate fuel level readings. this can cause a safety hazard if the driver is not given a correct read out of the amount of gas in the tank. this is a well known problem to nissan, they have a service bulletin for the problem as of october 4th, 2007, yet they have not issued a recall for the problem as it is a clear safety issue. i went to a nissan dealership in long beach ca (1800 e spring st, signal hill, ca

Nissan 2006 frontier, bad fuel level sensor, as per trouble code p0463. i have researched this online and have found hundreds of complaints for all different types of nissans having the same problem as myself. basically service engine light comes on and gas gauge works intermittently, gives false reading of amount of fuel in tank. i personally have run out of gas on several occasions as a result. this problem started at approx 55k miles, this is consistent with other peoples complaints as well. *tr

2006 nissan frontier xe 4 cylinder manual trans. at approximately 35,000 miles my fuel gauge stopped working after filling up, and read empty. the check engine light came on immediately. the fuel gauge began behaving erratically, sometimes reading correctly without the check engine light on, but always malfunctioning at approximately half tank, causing the check engine light to come on. then it ceased to function at all with the check engine light remaining on. nissan of santa rosa told me it would not be covered under my q certified power train warranty 100,000 miles or 2 years. nissan told me it was a problem with the fuel delivery system, and the sensor inside the gas tank needed replacement, at my charge. also, i cannot have my evap emissions system recall work performed until the fuel delivery system problem is fixed. as a result i cannot complete my vehicle registration for this year. i demand a recall of the fuel delivery system for the 2006 nissan frontier. thank you. *tr

My 2006 nissan frontier crew cab 4x4 had the fuel gauge quit and the service engine soon light (ses) come on after filling up with fuel around 46,800 miles. the fuel gauge started to work again a few days later but the light will not go off for the ses. this truck has been maintained and serviced above and beyond all manufacturer requirements. i bought this truck in sept of 2006 , so it is not even 3 years old but since the warranty ran out at 36,000 miles i can not go to the dealer because they don't care. i also have had numerous paint issues, fading, chipping and rust on this truck and have , as stated before always taken very good care of it. *tr

The fuel level sensor on my 2006 nissan frontier crew cab stopped working right after the warranty period was up. it started fluctuating and giving false readings, then stopped working all together. since the fuel sensor is tied to the check engine light, i was unable to obtain a safety inspection sticker until the item was repaired. to repair this, the fuel tank had to be removed. this cost me 400 to fix. i believe the unit to be defective, as i have been seeing more consumers who purchased this truck logging the same complaint. furthermore, i have a fear that is the unit is shorting out, it could cause a fire. after all, it sits on top of a 20 gallon fuel tank. this should be recalled!!! *tr

At 41,000miles my 2006 nissan frontier v6 began having a malfunctioning fuel sending unit causing improper reading of the fuel gauge. upon researching this problem, i realized that this is a common problem affecting nissans with the 4.0l v6 in xterra's, pathfinders and frontiers. this usually occurs between 39k-49k miles. nissan has no recall for this and i feel this is a potential hazard considering that the fuel gauge is misreading. nissan wants their customers to pay $450 for a part that is defective on their part. tr

The fuel sending unit has quit working for the second time which causes the fuel gauge to give false readings. nissan replaced the unit when it quit at 10000 miles under warranty but, now the vehicle is out of warranty and the unit is not working again. after talking with several owners of the same vehicle i found out we are all having the same problem, going through multiple units. nissan does seem to be fixing the problem but, just coving it up. after talking with the dealership they do not want to try to cover it, they want me to pay $400 for parts and labor which i am not going to do. besides the fact that $100 for parts and $300 for labor is outrageous i am not going to replace this part just have it fail again. this part should be on a recall because it is clearly defective and not a part that should have to be replaced 2, 3, or 4 times or even at 10000 miles. now my problem is the truck seems to be using more gas because of this. i have been going off of the mileage because i know my vehicle will do a little over 400 miles on a tank of gas but, it left me on the side of the highway in a bad neighborhood at 11:30 at night with 352 miles showing. my girlfriend also has to drive this truck and i fear her safety when she is driving the vehicle. she could get stuck in a bad neighborhood or in dallas, tx traffic it is not easy to get to the side of the road when it runs out of gas. also, this problem sets off the check engine light and the vehicle inspection is out. they will not let the vehicle pass with this on. *tr

The fuel sending unit on the truck failed at about 38k miles. the gage is slow to respond to a fill-up 30-60 minutes to register full. it functions normally until around half a tank, then the needle drops to e and the empty tank light comes on. after refueling the truck several times it was still half full of fuel. the check engine light has been on since the start of the problem. online boards have indicated that this is a common problem on this truck. a code scanner at a parts store also said that it was a problem with the fuel level sending unit. i will probably replace the part myself. *tr

I own a 2006 nissan frontier, it was delivered with only half the keys programmed for the vehicle, a strange rattling of plastic shrouding in the engine compartment and as i found out a fast set of tires later, the front end out of alignment [ too much toe in ]. when i read the manual i found out that my 4wd vehicle was not intended to be used off of the road, this was not in any of the presales literature and the reason i buy 4wd is so i can use it off road. at 100 miles after warranty i had to take it in because the fuel sending unit had failed, about a $600 repair on a part that should last 200,000 miles. the mechanic told me their dealership is replacing about one of these a week on a couple of models. when i picked it up i got the trouble light on the way home, i scanned it to see what the problem was [code po448 ]. i took it back. the first canister they ordered showed up broken [ kind of fragile for something mounted on the bottom of a 4wd ]. parts replaced under the emissions warranty were 14953zp50c filter-canister, 14950-ea20a canister assy. e, and 14935-am60b valve assy.-co. the service order says ...inspected/found no flow very rusty..... as the vehicle only has 36,000 miles on it this does not bode well for the future. *tr

2006 nissan frontier le 4x4. fuel gauge is not reading accurately. this caused me to run out of gas on november 14th, 2012, when the gauge was well above the low gas threshold. it was a very scary experience for me as i was in traffic at the time when the engine stalled at around 40mph. i fear this could happen again and now i'm afraid to drive with my grandkids in my truck. i researched this problem and traced it to a common defect with the fuel level sending unit that is a safety recall which affects many nissan vehicles, including 2006 frontier models but somehow excluding my 2006 frontier: **************** nhtsa campaign id number: 10v075000 recall date: 2010-03-03 summary: nissan is recalling certain model year 2006 and model year 2008 frontier, xterra and pathfinder vehicles. the molded fuel tank shells can deform, causing the fuel sender float arm to contact an embossment molded into the tank shell causing the instrument panel fuel gauge to show that the vehicle has approximately one quarter tank when the fuel tank is empty. consequences: this could cause the vehicle to run out of gas and stall in traffic, increasing the risk of a crash. remedy: dealers will replace the fuel level sending unit inside the fuel tank with a new one that has a modified float arm. this service will be performed free of charge. the safety recall is expected to begin on or before march 22, 2010. owners may contact nissan at 1-800-647-7261. component affected: fuel system, gasoline:storage:auxillary tank notes: nissan north america, inc. *tr *****************

I purchased a 2006 nissan frontier crew cab se 4x4 new in 2006. i have driven the vehicle less than moderately and currently have 44,000 miles on the vehicle. the check engine light recently displayed and i took the vehicle to the dealership. i was advised the fuel sending unit needed replaced and was going to cost roughly $600.00. i was upset with the price, however, did not have any other choice but to pay for the repair. i have decided to wait until i have the funds for such a repair. while researching this issue, i have come to learn through various repair sites on-line and word of mouth from other nissan owners that this is an extremely common issue with this model year nissan. vehicles including but not limited to frontier, x-terra and z. i do not understand why a recall on this expensive piece has not been issued, due to the price and obvious manugacture default in the quality. this seems to be an issue with this model vehicle since 2008. i recently have had other service work performed on my vehicle, and if not for a friend with a code reader, would have paid dearly for service replacements at the dealership, due to the dealership not advising me of the recall on these issues. i have owned several new vehicles over the years, many different brands, but have never had the issues that i am having with the nissan brand before. the fuel guage issue should be a manufacture default and likewise should be recalled and replaced at no expense to the consumer. thank you for your time.

The fuel gauge is erratic, reading empty when it's full and the check engine light came on. nissan has a technical service bulletin # 07069 for a faulty fuel level sending unit.
01/04/201060300
Filled my 2006 frontier with gas one day and the service engine came on. the next day the guage did not register amount of fuel in tank. the following week i refilled again and guage did not register properly. i then drove around for an hour and it eventually registered full again. took to local nissan dealer and they did a scan and it revealed it had a faulty fuel level sender.the repair was completed about 2 months prior to recall being annouced. i checked with the dealer and one service advisor said they would reimburse my cost, once the actual recall letters were sent out. since then the dealer says the recall for the fuel sender does not apply to my truckand will not reimburse me. i called the 1-800 nissan number and they say my truck is not covered . however the service bulletin say 2005-2007 frontier - all

The fuel gage either shows full or one fourth or empty even after a fill up. i have ran out of gas in heavy traffic almost resulting in several rear end collisions. *dt

Back in november, 2009, i stopped to fill up my 2006 nissan 4x4 frontier extended cab pickup truck with gas. after filling tank, started the engine and put truck in gear to pull out of gas station and the gas gauge e (empty) light came on and check engine light came on and stays on till this day. i took it to a dealer to find out problem why gas gage quit working on my 51,000 mile truck at the time and they wanted to charge me $600.00 to replace the fuel level sending unit which is inside the fuel tank. of course i haven't had the money to get it fixed. i never know how much gas i have because the gage is not working. i ran out of gas 1 time, luckily while i was strolling in to a gas station. i have since found out nissan will be implementing a recall on certain models year 2006 & 2008 frontier pickups, xterra and pathfinder vehicles. the problem that the recall states was the molded fuel tank shells can deform, causing the fuel sender float arm to contact an embossment molded into the tank shell causing the instrument panel fuel gauge to show that the vehicle has approximately one quarter tank when the fuel tank is empty. this could cause the vehicle to run out of gas and stall in traffic, increasing the risk of a crash, which came close to happening to me two days ago. i called nissan regarding a recall notice i found out on the internet, recalling these vehicles manufactured from 01/23/2006 to 3/16/2006. mine was manufactured 06/2006 and i was told my vin number did not show up on their recall database list. my complaint, my truck has the same defective part, i'm driving under dangerous conditions, i need nissan to stand behind their products and replace this part with no charge to me, the consumer. i'm taking a chance every time i drive this truck in the gas running out, and my vehicle stalling on the major interstate causing crash, injury, possibly death. i want my vehicle repaired now, not have to wait until my vin no. shows up on a recall list. *tr

I have a 06 nissan frontier. just after the 36k warranty the fuel sending unit went out. this causes the service engine light to come on not to mention the fuel gage doesn't work. i paid 400 to have this unit replace. however, they have a newer part number which proves they know about the problem. this just isn't fair especially the vehicle on had 38k on it. also, tailgate hinge problems. the right side hinge breaks. something def wrong with how it was made as i had looked at several frontiers and 3 of them were broken. this needs to be looked at as well. damages the tail gate when this happens and someone is going to get hurt. *tr

I have a 2006 nissan frontier nismo i have had 3 fuel sending units replaced and have only 21000 miles on the truck. this is due to very erratic and somewhat unsafe defective equipment ie; gas gauge/sending unit. i recently had it replaced for the third time and it is now worse than before. i am very frustrated and this seems to be a universal problem with the gas gauge/sending unit. i would like to see a recall and this problem fixed once and for all. thanks *tr

I purchased a used 2006 nissan frontier crew cab se this april 2008 everything was running great until this month of december 23 my check engine light came on out of the blue and my fuel gauge doesn't work properly so i filled it up with gas maybe im just low on gas but when i filled up my tank my gauge didn't go up so i brought it to my mechanic to fix the problem he told me that my fuel sensor is tripping out and its going to cost me $150 to drop the gas tank plus the price of the sensor which i don't have any idea how much it cost so i told my mechanic to turn off the check engine light and he told me to come back the next day if the problem still exist so i went home and the next day when i started my truck the check engine was gone and my fuel gauge went up all the way lightning fast so i was very happy but not for long after 5 days the problem occurred again i was low of gas about 1/4 tank and the lights were on again so another disappointment so i research this problem and i found that im not alone with this problem there's alot of people out there that own nissan vehicles that are newer that has a fuel sensor problem and this is a major defect and nissan should consider this a recall this could lead to a big problem when your fuel gauge is not working properly especially when driving and all of a sudden your out of gas and it can cause an accident or even death especially when your driving on the freeway i hope my complaint will take effect and to notify nissan about this problem we are talking safety for the consumers just like me thank you..... *tr
