When you put gas in the vehicle the gas gauge doesn't work, goes to empty with the warning light coming on and shortly after the service engine light will come one. it doesn't matter if you put in 1 gallon of gas or if you fill up the tank. the fuel sending unit fails, nissan dealer said they are aware of the issue but its not a recall.

My fuel gauge registered empty so a went to put gas in and it was nearly full. they told me i needed a battery. i was under warranty at the time. now out of warranty and 3 batteries later, my gauge is broke again. i have sent emails and letters to nissan and get no reply. i will probably never buy another nissan as much as i do like this truck. *tr

Fuel gauge show empty when it has a full tank.. fuel gauge will slowly get up to full and then won't drop below a quarter of a tank. you have no clue how much gas is in the vehicle. looks like there are a ton of people complaining about the same thing online. faulty fuel sending unit looks like the cause. *tr

Fuel gauge began to malfunction, showing and improper amount of fuel in the tank. check engine light stays on. fuel gauge registers incorrect level after fueling up the vehicle. i have ran out of gas on one occasion due to this. i was on the side of a busy interstate with my 6 yr old and had to cross the interstate to get assistance. this is a safety concern. nissan tells me that my vehicle is not included in the recall and if i want to repair the vehicle it will be at my own expense. this is a widespread problem with nissan fuel sending units on the frontier and should be fixed in a nationwide recall, not a vin specific recall. the product is faulty. nissan and nhtsa should both be ashamed for not putting out a nationwide recall. *tr

2006 nissan frontier le 4x4. fuel gauge is not reading accurately. this caused me to run out of gas on november 14th, 2012, when the gauge was well above the low gas threshold. it was a very scary experience for me as i was in traffic at the time when the engine stalled at around 40mph. i fear this could happen again and now i'm afraid to drive with my grandkids in my truck. i researched this problem and traced it to a common defect with the fuel level sending unit that is a safety recall which affects many nissan vehicles, including 2006 frontier models but somehow excluding my 2006 frontier: **************** nhtsa campaign id number: 10v075000 recall date: 2010-03-03 summary: nissan is recalling certain model year 2006 and model year 2008 frontier, xterra and pathfinder vehicles. the molded fuel tank shells can deform, causing the fuel sender float arm to contact an embossment molded into the tank shell causing the instrument panel fuel gauge to show that the vehicle has approximately one quarter tank when the fuel tank is empty. consequences: this could cause the vehicle to run out of gas and stall in traffic, increasing the risk of a crash. remedy: dealers will replace the fuel level sending unit inside the fuel tank with a new one that has a modified float arm. this service will be performed free of charge. the safety recall is expected to begin on or before march 22, 2010. owners may contact nissan at 1-800-647-7261. component affected: fuel system, gasoline:storage:auxillary tank notes: nissan north america, inc. *tr *****************

This vehicle is showing symptoms consistent with nhtsa safety recall campaign 10v-075 (2006 and 2008 frontier fuel gauge inaccuracy) but according to nissan this vin is not eligible for the campaign. symptoms include: slow/erratic response of fuel gauge, inaccurate reading, ses light is now illuminated. this came on suddenly about two weeks ago. contacted nissan and they said vehicle is not eligible; their case # [xxx] information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6). *tr

2006 nissan frontier. filled the gas tank and the gauge stayed on 1/4. when i drove the vehicle again, the gas tank gauge went up to 3/4, but i'm not certain if the 3/4 is accurate. this now happens on every gas fill up. found a recall notice online (listed below). i called my local nissan dealer and they indicated my vin number is not part of the recall. i call nissan, and they stated the same thing and informed me nhtsa decides what vin number is part of the recall and it's out of nissan's hands. and, volunteered they did not have contact information for nhtsa. nice customer service. nhtsa, if i'm having similar issues to the recall, how do i get my vin number added recall id # 80825 - fuel system, gasoline:storage:auxillary tank hide details recall date: mar 03, 2010 model affected: 2006 nissan frontier summary: nissan is recalling certain model year 2006 and model year 2008 frontier, xterra and pathfinder vehicles. the molded fuel tank shells can deform, causing the fuel sender float arm to contact an embossment molded into the tank shell causing the instrument panel fuel gauge to show that the vehicle has approximately one quarter tank when the fuel tank is empty. consequences: this could cause the vehicle to run out of gas and stall in traffic, increasing the risk of a crash. remedy: dealers will replace the fuel level sending unit inside the fuel tank with a new one that has a modified float arm. this service will be performed free of charge. the safety recall is expected to begin on or before march 22, 2010. owners may contact nissan at 1-800-647-7261. potential units affected: 80689 notes: nissan north america, inc. *tr

The service engine soon light came on and the fuel gauge was slow to rise after filling up. this time when i filled up the gauge was at 1/4 and would not move. after sitting in traffic for a little bit the gauge indicated that a was low on fuel and the low fuel light came on.
