Fuel gauge sensor corroded and gauge no longer works. *tr

My gas gauge began giving bad reading after driving several miles. went to 1/2 tank and stayed there. this continued for several weeks. filled the gas tank. the next day the engine repair light came on while driving to work. checked the code and it was the fuel sending unit. reset and the light went out. unit worked fine. next fill up the light came on again and the fuel gauge. kept jumping around. not knowing the amount of gas and running out at speed would cause lose of steering and brake control. nissan recalled the 2006&2008 models to fix. i can't imagine that they did not use same unit in 2007 model.

Service engine light came on for the first time since i bought the vehcile brand new. auto zone checked it out and stated it was a fuel sending unit failure. i did noticed the pass week it was having trouble reading how much gas i had left (dte) i researched and found it there was a recall on this particular issue for our vehicles. contact united nissan dealership and told me i was passed the 72,000 mile so it doesnt cover the recall? i dont understand how they would predict when it would fail? i did not recieve a notice of this recall or i would have had it done weather i did have the problem or not. its a common problem for our vehicles so why put a mark on when it is covered? its not fair for those experience the problem after. contact nissan consumer usa and stated there was no recall for my vehicle nissan frontier which makes no sense to me. so no help there... ill never buy a nissan ever again very poor on assiting their customers. we need a class action lawsuit on these guys its a common problem fix it!!!

After filling with fuel on 12/2/2011, the fuel gauge was hung at about 1/4 tank. i drove approximately 75 miles before the fuel gauge was registering near full. on 12/8/2011, i filled the tank with fuel, and upon starting the engine the fuel gauge read empty and the fuel light was on. i drove approximately 85 miles, but the fuel gauge remained on empty with the fuel light on. on 12/9/2011, i contacted nissan consumer affairs concerning the recall on this model of vehicle and i was told that my vin was not included in the recall. however, nissan did open a file number (7327001) and it is being forwarded to a regional specialist for review, but am told it is unlikely that the fuel sending unit will be covered. there is apparently a problem with the fuel sending unit, as nissan had extended the warranty on this component to 72,000 miles, but am told that unfortunately i have exceeded the warranty period. i was also told that i would have to take my vehicle to a nissan dealer for diagnosis, at my expense, and no certainty if nissan will stand good for the defective part. so the dealer can charge me approximately $120.00 to me what i already know? i would consider this a highway safety issue; not knowing if you are getting an accurate fuel quantity reading, and the possibility of being stranded.

2007 nissan frontier at 54k mile check engine light came on with the error code p0463 (fuel sending units failure). found out that this problem is also happened to the 06 and 08 nissan frontier that was on the safety recalled list. the check engine light light up on (p0463) and gas guage indicator will drop to empty fuel even still at 1/4 full, due to the defactive sending units nissan manufactured. i am hoping that nhtsa will includes the 2007 nissan frontier as a safey recall fix list. thank you.

Driving on highway at speed, 11:30 pm truck stalled out, attempted neutral restart while manuevering to the right was a very hazardous situation. truck fuel gauge was reading 1/4 tank. the check engine light was now on so i did not consider it had run out of fuel. i had it towed to mechanic, code read p0463 which is the fuel level sensor on the fuel pump located in the fuel tank. mechanic wants $700 to repair, the 2006 and 2008 versions of the vehicle have been recalled, but not the 2007, seems that nissan has used these defective parts in all 3 and probably more model years. i was placed in a situation that was extremely hazardous to me, my passengers, and those motorists on the road around me. since this event i have read website after website describing this product defect, it is the same in every case it is clear that nissan has placed inferior parts in this truck and they are failing putting their customers and those around us in harms way. do we need to wait for fatalites to recognize this is a manufactures defect. nissan needs to take resposibility for the 2007 and any other model years that have this part in them.

Fuel guage failed. slight smell of fuel in cabin. dealer stated that they would replace the fuel sending unit under an extended warranty. dealer stated that while troubleshooting the fuel sending unit they discovered that there was a problem with the fuel lines leading to the fuel tank. technician stated that there appeared to be damage to the fuel lines caused by an unknown animal chewing through the fuel line, requiring the replacement of the entire fuel tank. this sounded very improbable and i believe it has to be a result of the poor quality of the plastic fuel tanks used in this vehicle.
08/25/201140180
The fuel line has rusted through and gas is leaking. nissan will not correct the problem under their 60 month/unlimited mileage corrosion/perforation warranty.

I pulled into the gas station and filled up like i normally do. when i started my engine, my gas gauge did not climb past the 1/4 mark. i turned my truck on and off 2 more times to see if this might fix the problem, it did not. as i drove home, the gauge climbed ever so slowly before stopping at 1/2 tank. this is when the check engine light came on. i got home and googled the problem and this seems to be a fairly common problem. what i don't understand is why the 06 and 08 models are recalled but not the 07. i refuse to take it to my local dealership because i have always had less then stellar service and just refuse to deal with them and be forced to overpay.
06/13/201174000
The fuel sending unit on my 2007 nissan frontier went bad at 74,000 miles. nissan has declined to repair it as it is out of the warranty period. however this is such a common and well documented problem, the 2007 frontiers should be included in the recall that is available for some of the '06 and '08 frontiers.

I turned on the car, at which point the needle did not register the full tank. after driving a couple miles, the check engine light came on. i went directly to the dealer and was told that it was a fuel sending unit/sensor and that it was no longer covered after 30k miles. after returning home and doing research, i went online to x.nissanhelp.com after performing a search, i came across many others who have experienced the same problem. apparently it has something to do with the fuel sending unit. a similar problem was found on the 2000-2004 xterra models and a recall was performed when the vehicle would stop after not getting any fuel, posing a great danger. it seems that somthing in the unit is faulty and will corrode over time. there is a general consensus that everyone who is having the problem is experiencing the same thing after having the vehicle for over 2 yrs and with around 39k-49k. if this problem existed in previous models, and it was recalled, the 2005-2007 xterras, frontiers, and pathfinders should get this fixed at no charge to the customer!! why wait for accidents and possible deaths, especially since the problem lies in an integral part of the vehicle. cost of repair ranges from $300-600.
04/02/201171346
Check engine light comes on with error code p0463. this is due to a faulty fuel level sensor. this has been a problem with nissan and the previous models with the same issue were recalled. this failure causes the vehicle to be out of compliance with texas laws and will not pass annual inspection without repair.

I have a 2007 nissan frontier. i ran out of gas despite my fuel gauge showing that i had a little less then 1/4 tank of gas left in the tank. i see that there was a recall for 2006 and 2008 vehicles but not the 2007. have there been any other complaints for this problem for 2007? my gas gauge takes a long time to get back up to full and my check engine light stays on. i make certain that the gas cap is on tight after each fill up. i was told that the fuel level sensor may be bad. i have not had the problem fixed yet so the part would be available after i have the problem fixed.
01/21/201142000
The fuel guage malfunctioned it would indicate that it was empty eventhough the tank was full. i talked to service manager, he says that nissan would not cover repair because it was not a recall item. nissan did have a recall on the same item for the 2006 and 2008 models. they could not explain why the 2007 models were not included.

2007 nissan frontier fuel sensor guage not working properly. vehicle guage shows empty, check engine light comes on and low fuel light, all this with plenty of gas in tank.sometimes fuel guage will show 3/4 full and after guage gets around 1/2 full, the guage will drop to empty. never sure how much fuel is in tank. would not want to run out of gas and cause a crash. nissan has recalls for the 2006 and 2008 frontier for the same issue. nissan offered me $250.00 towards the repairs at their dealership. i am not sure why the 2007 model's are not included in the recalls. nissan is obviously aware of other year vehicles with the same problem and do not want to fix their defect at no charge to the customer.

I own a 2007 nissan frontier se 4x4 crew cab pickup. i purchased the aformentioned vehicle new in 2007. recently the service engine soon warning light came on. shortly after the warning light came on i began to notice my fuel gauge needle dropping to empty or near empty when i knew i had at least 1/4 tank of gasoline. if i shut the engine off and started it back up the fuel gauge needle would indicate 1/4 tank, and then shortly afterward drop to empty or near empty. i did some research and found out that this problem seems to be very common and should warrant a recall. my vehicle has approximately 45,800 miles on it. in my opinion running out of fuel or being distracted by a malfunctioning fuel gauge could lead to an accident. i request that this problem is investigated and a recall is initiated immediately. thank you for reading this.

Drove the truck with the low fuel warning light on for several miles. upon filling up the tank, the low fuel light remained on and needle showed empty. shortly afterward, the service engine light came on. mil code is p0463 - fuel level sensor problem. resetting the code works for a few days but then the mil light comes back on. the gas gauge is erratic, sometimes showing empty when it's not. so we have to track the approximate fuel remaining by using the trip odometer.

On or about 7-15-10, i filled the fuel tank in my 2007 nissan frontier se crew cab to capacity. within seconds of starting and driving the vehicle afterwards, the service engine warning light came on and my fuel guage indicater dropped to the half-full mark. it has been erratic since that event and has not properly indicated how much fuel remains in the tank. on 7-16-10, i took the vehicle to the dealer from which it was purchased. their service department diagnosed the problem and advised the vehicle needed a new fuel sending unit. they also advised that there was no recall on that part, although there was a recall on that part for the nissan titan. through research, i have discovered that nissan has had previous recalls on fuel sending units on other model years and vehicles, and many owners have posted the similar problem online, specifically regarding the fuel sending unit on the 2007 nissan frontier. nissan is at this time unwilling to repair the problem at their cost, which i find frustrating as it is an obvious part problem. my concern is that an inaccurate fuel level reading caused by this faulty unit could lead to a stalled vehicle in traffic, posing a considerable safety risk.

The fuel level sending unit in my 2007 nissan frontier shorted out on june 22, 2010. i brought the vehicle to my dealer on june 24, 2010. the dealer informed me that the although nissan has recalled this part on some vehicels, that my vehicel is not covered by the recall. this is a known defect which resulted in the recall of 2006 and 2008 models of my vehicle model as well as other models of nissan vehicles using the same part for 2006 to 2008, inclusive (armada and titan models). i am astounded that such a recall would exclude vehicles with same part and same history of part failure. this is especially surprising since the recall was issued for other models of my year, just not my model. if the part is failing and is a enough of a safety issue to issue a recall for other models in the same year and for the same model in other years, why would it not be considered enough of a safety issue for my model year? does the nhtsa plan to intitiate an investigation of why nissan is excluding my model in the recall for the fuel level sender unit?

Fuel gauge in 2007 nissan frontier....one minute i have a full tank next its empty. fill the truck up and gauge says i'm only 1/4 full. i see there was a recall for the 2006 and 2008 for the same reason. did they make a change for 2007 then went back to the old way in 2008. dealership is saying the part alone is $540 bucks and recall does not cover the 2007 models.

2007 nissan frontier nismo faulty gas sensor in tank. known recall on 2006 and 2008 models. shows an empty tank when full and empty. unless you are keeping up wiith mileage, you don't know if you will run out of gas on the freeway. this can cause accidents. nissan is aware of the same issue in 2006 and 2008 frontier trucks. for some reason, they will not assume responsibility for the 2007 models. i talked with the dealer and they are aware of the issue but cannot take care of the problem. it will cost me over $500 to replace this. my check engine light stays on, can't be reset until this is fixed.

The fuel guage acts erracticallly, i can fill the gas tank up with fuel but the needle still shows that i'm empty. i'm sure it's the fuel sending unti. the vehicle has 44000 miles on it now, and around 38,000 miles when this occurred. the check engine light is on because of this defect.

I have a nissan 2007 frontier that i bought new back in nov. 2007. this vehicle has a bad gas pump sensor that make a warning on the panel( engine problem ) because of this problem i am unable to read how much gas is left. it always mark the tank as empty. when i took it to the dealer, they stated that because my car vin# was not on the recalls i counld do anything. i am unble to travel interstate or long distances.

I have a 2007 nissan frontier xe. i had about 1/4 tank of gas when i decided to fill it up. started my truck and my gas gauge read 0 and my check engine light came on. after driving a while, my gas gauge started to read a little level. as i drove the level would come up slowly until it finally read a full tank. after this happened to me, i heard about a recall nissan was issuing on vehicles with the same sypmtoms, all due to a faulty fule level sending uniti called nissan to see if my truck qualified for the recall fuel level sending unit and it didn't. nissan customer service told me to take the truck into the dealership to get a diagnostic test run to check and see if indeed the fuel level sending unit need repair. the test the dealership ran did indeed confirm that the fuel level sending unit was faulty. nissan told me they would log my complaint but would not pay to fix it because my truck wasn't cover under the recall even though my truck has the same problem as the other recalled vehicles.
04/07/201061000
I own a 2007 nissan frontier le. the fuel gauge sticks at 1/4 tank when the fuel level is low even though the tank is nearly empty. when refilling the tank the gauge stayed at 1/4 tank for a couple of miles before it came back to full. as of the last fill up the gauge is still reading 1/4. also the service engine soon light is lit. i have read about recall involving the fuel gauge for 2006 and 2008 frontiers and contacted nissan consumer affairs. they informed me that my 2007 is not part of the recall. i've read numerous accounts of 2007 models having the same problems as the 2006 and 2008 models so i am very displeased that nissan is not including 2007s. it seems to be such a common problem that i should not have to pay to have it fixed. there is clearly a fault in the part or design.
04/05/201065000
The fuel gauge on my 2007 nissan frontier has also stopped working correctly. as with others that have reported this issue, upon filling the tank the gauge will read empty and then during the drive it acts irratically and sometimes it will read correctly one minute and the next thing you know it's on empty again. its very frustrating to know this was a recall in other years yet nissan won't man up and fix these issues. i won't buy another nissan because of the way they are handling this or should i say not handling this. it's a safety issue if you run out of gas when your gauge is obviously faulty and telling you there's fuel in the vehicle.
04/09/201050000
After filling gas tank: the fuel guage immediatly registered emty and continued reading same. current to date, no changes in reading. its' consequences are on-going that a serious incident could occur on the highway by running out of fuel, loosing control of the vehicle. this is a current failure, and has not had repaired or replaced. should be a manufacturer's recall for repairs. faulty, and could be unsnafe.
04/08/201035500
After filling up the gas tank, the gas gauge does not work. it will either read empty or have an erratic reading. nissan had a recall for these units for 2006, 2008, and 2009, but not 2007, which is the year of my nissan frontier. my unit failed just like the recalled units, but nissan will not replace this obviously defective unit. the dealer will not replace the unit because it is 3 months out of warranty.

I own a 2007 nissan frontier xe pick up. after filling up with gas on 2/28/2010 i noticed that my fuel gauge did not move to the full mark. the fuel gauge eventually (after about 30 minutes of driving) began to move to about the 3/4 full mark. my wife took the vehicle into the dealer on 3/1/2010 for a strange engine noise and to determine the problem with the fuel gauge. the service manager from the dealer informed me that there was a problem with the fuel gauge sending unit. i authorized the dealer to complete the repair,(3/3/2010) the cost was $474.38. the next day a friend called to tell me that they heard of a nhtsa recall on certain nissan models regarding the fuel gauge malfunctioning. i consulted your website and in reading the summary of the recall discovered that it was very similar if not exact to the symptoms my vehicle had demonstrated. i called nissan and furnished my vin fully expecting my vehicle to be included in the recall. unfortunately nissan insisted my vin was not covered in the recall. i appealed within their company asking them to consider covering the cost of the repair since the defect so closely mirrored the recall even though my vin was technically excluded from the recall. they refused to offer any assistance towards my repair costs. i realize that i am asking a large company to show integrity since they are secure that my vin is excluded, but i thought they would honor my request given the nature of my repair and the recall. is there anything nhtsa can do to assist me in this? it seems a shame that even though my vehicle demonstrated nearly exact symptoms of the recall, they can deny responsibility because for whatever reason my vin is not included in the recall at this time. *tr

07/10/2009430001
Fuel sensing unit on my '07 frontier went out. though i'm reading many reports now of fuel gauges that don't rise to full at fill-up, mine was the opposite. after a few episodes of check engine light coming on, then clearing itself, i was heading down highway in the center lane during rush hour. though my gauge said 1/4 tank,in fact i was out of gas, lost power, and had to coast as i made my way in heavy traffic over to the shoulder. it wouldn't start til a buddy brought a can of gas, then it started right up. dealership diagnosed it as a toasted fsu, but because the truck was just out of warranty, i had to shell out $407.00 bucks to get it replaced. this issue is more than an inconvenience and an unnecessary expense...it's downright dangerous for someone caught in a situation when the fsu fails, and they can't maneuver out of a situation because of the loss of power. in my opinion, this failure, which i'm now learning is quite common, demands a recall. and if a recall is issued, how about a reimbursement for those of us who have already had to deal with this? *tr

I had 1/4 of a tank of gas and went to fill up. after filling up my gas tank, i turned on the car, at which point the needle did not register the full tank. after driving a couple miles, the check engine light came on. i went directly to the dealer and was told that it was a fuel sending unit/sensor and that it was no longer covered after 30k miles. after returning home and doing research, i went online to x.nissanhelp.com after performing a search, i came across many others who have experienced the same problem. apparently it has something to do with the fuel sending unit. a similar problem was found on the 2000-2004 xterra models and a recall was performed when the vehicle would stop after not getting any fuel, posing a great danger. it seems that something in the unit is faulty and will corrode over time. there is a general consensus that everyone who is having the problem is experiencing the same thing after having the vehicle for over 2 yrs and with around 39k-49k. if this problem existed in previous models, and it was recalled, the 2005-2007 xterras, frontiers, and pathfinders should get this fixed at no charge to the customer!! why wait for accidents and possible deaths, especially since the problem lies in an integral part of the vehicle. cost of repair ranges from $300-600. *tr

Yesterday morning the fuel gauge in my 2007 nissan frontier 4 x 4 (approximately 46,000 miles) appeared to work normally when it showed perhaps 30 miles left to drive before empty. it took almost 20 gallons to fill it up. after filling up fully, the fuel gauge showed about a quarter of a tank and the service engine soon light came on. today the fuel gauge shows about 5/8ths of a tank left, with my having driven about 10 miles since filling up. it seems the 2007 nissan frontiers have the same problem as the 2006 and 2008 models that are being recalled. unless nissan changed parts or design in 2007, it makes no sense why the fuel gauge problem of 2006 should have skipped 2007 and reappeared in 2008! (with regard to my truck, nothing has been done to correct the fuel gauge failure. the problem looks to be persistent, and the safety issue of running out of gas in traffic is the same as for the to-be-recalled 2006 and 2008 models). *tr

I have a 2007 nissan frontier. recently, when i would fill up the gas tank, the gas gauge would not move and the check engine light would come on. after traveling for about 30-45 minutes, the gas gauge would move up to full, but the check engine light would stay on. i can disconnect the battery, and the gas gauge works correctly and the check engine light goes out. all is normal until i fill up the gas tank again, and same problem. i went today to get my nc vehicle inspection, and it failed due to the check engine light, and when they put the obdii tester on, it gave them a p0463 code. after reading all the comments on the internet, it seems it is a common problem with nissan's. it should be covered by nissan, as they have done for other models with the same problem. *tr

Http://x.nissanhelp.com/forums/xterra/4151-fuel-gauge-problem-service-engine-soon-light.html i had 1/4 of a tank of gas and went to fill up. after filling up my gas tank, i turned on the car, at which point the needle did not register the full tank. after driving a couple miles, the check engine light came on. i went directly to the dealer and was told that it was a fuel sending unit/sensor and that it was no longer covered after 30k miles apparently this is a bigger problem than i thought...there def. needs to be a recall!! a couple wks ago i went to the gas station to fill up, i was at about a 1/4 of a tank. after filling, got in the vehicle, turned it on, and saw that it was still saying i had a quarter of a tank. anyways, i ignored it until a couple miles down the road the service engine soon light came on. went directly to nissan dealership and was told that i needed part number 25060- fuel level sensor i did a search and found out i'm not alone. went to the gas station tonight with a little less then 3/4 tank and filled it up - had to stop at the store anyway so i gassed up. anyway, driving down the road, i looked down and my fuel gauge is on empty and the light on. interesting, i thought. then the check engine comes on later. he, i was thinking some kind of gas pocket or something so i got home and un did the gas cap, and disconnect the battery. the check engine cleared, but the fuel empty is still there. i have a 2005 frontier. bought my truck new in 1/05 and now has 47k miles. it's been a great truck but i hope these things don't keep creeping up. learned a few things on this issue. we were out of warranty as well and had to pay out of pocket for 2005 xterra w/44,000 miles to get it fixed......kind of a rear end burner. anyway use the p/n 25060-zs00a on the service bulletin # ntb07-69a. this p/n is for the sender unit only @ $97.00 only vs. the sender unit & pump assembly @ $290.00. a lot of dealers don't have this part number. *tr

I have a 2007 nissan frontier pick up truck that i bought new.it has approximately 57k miles on it. about 6 months ago, the fuel sending gauge began malfunctioning. after a fuel fill up it would register full however after a few minutes it would drop to the empty position and the service engine light would come on ( it is still on now). i took it to the dealer and he informed me that it would cost $650 to repair. since it was not covered under warranty and i didn't have the money to pay for it, i didn't have it repaired. i googled some information regarding the nissan fuel sending unit to see if i could make the repair myself and found that many other owners of nissan products have had this same problem. i'm more than a little frustrated that the dealer never mentioned this as a problem. i have a daughter who uses this truck at james madison university. i've told her to check the tripometer etc but i'm afraid that she will forget and at some point run out of gas. this presents a major concern for my wife and me. *tr

At about 41,000 miles, just outside of warranty, fuel gauge stopped working after i filled gas tank up. it will occasionally work now but not all the way. now i can not trust the fuel gauge. nissan shop employees said this is a common problem. it is a fuel gauge sensor and will cost over 500 dollars to repair. i have found numerous complaints about this on the internet. this is a major safety issue. if i was traveling with my family and ran out gas at night on the highway, anything could happen before i got help. *tr

I have a 2007 nissan frontier with 41000 miles on it. at 39000 miles the fuel gauge started malfunctioning and the check engine light came on. when i fill up with gasoline, the fuel gauge remains at empty with the empty gas tank light on. occasionally the gauge kicks up but dies down again. on 9/9/09 i took the car to the nissan dealership and they diagnosed the problem as fuel gauge sensor needs replacement. they wanted over $500 fix the problem. i have seen a lot of complains on the internet about this and so i called nissan consumer affairs and they promised to look into a goodwill repair of the problem. however they called me today to say they will not pay for the part to be replaced. this problem, i never know how much fuel i have in the tank and i just keep filling it up every couple of days. i am afraid the gasoline will ran out when on the roadside and put me and my family in danger of an accident or burglary or worse. *tr

Model year 2007 make nissan model frontier component* fuel gage system the fuel sending unit has quit working which causes the fuel gauge to give false readings. now the vehicle is out of warranty and the unit is not working again. after talking with several owners of the same vehicle i found out we are all having the same problem, going through multiple units. nissan does seem to be fixing the problem but, just covering it up. after talking with the dealership they do not want to try to cover it, they want me to pay $400 for parts and labor which i am not going to do. besides the fact that $100 for parts and $300 for labor is outrageous i am not going to replace this part just have it fail again. this part should be on a recall because it is clearly defective and not a part that should have to be replaced 2, 3, or 4 times or even at 10000 miles. now my problem is the truck seems to be using more gas because of this. *tr

2007 nissan frontier with 45,000 miles developed service engine soon light when filled up with gasoline. code shown when read was fuel sending unit high output. after research with several nissan dealers, an approximate repair cost of $600 was given, including a $100 diagnostic fee for reading the codes. i have been running vehicle without a properly operating fuel gauge for approximately 5,000 miles since, due to high cost of repair not available at this time. this is a risk since the fuel gauge drops to empty once tank is below half full. this can result in loss of power components upon vehicle ceasing to operate once out of fuel. this is a recurring defect in similar and past model years that the manufacturer is choosing to ignore once out of warranty. *tr

Fuel sensor problem 2007 frontier -47,000 mile. after filling the tank, the fuel gauge drops to empty, the low fuel warning light comes on, and service engine soon light comes on. this is a common recurring problem with nissan models and because it is not a true safety issue, nissan does not feel the necessity to issue a recall. *tr

I have a 2007 frontier king cab nismo with 56,000 miles on it. put fuel in it today and the fuel gauge will not rise above half full. then the check engine soon light came on. a few miles later the gauge plunged to empty with the low fuel light on. on my return trip the gauge moved up to half with the service engine soon light on. it appears from my research that the fuel sending unit is bad and that numerous owners are experiencing this same expensive issue. apparently this can cause the fuel to stop being sent and potentially lead to a serious accident. my call to the deal will be tomorrow am. this should be a recall issue as xterra's were recalled for this same issue in prior model years. just two weeks ago i had a abs sensor replaced at $400. the rear end was dropped at two weeks old to fix another sensor and on and on. this truck has not been reliable and i would not recommend any nissan product at this point! it does not go more than 2 months without something going wrong with it. help! *tr

I just bought my 2007 nissan frontier le with 60,000 miles. while driving it home i noticed that the fuel gauge was not going all the way up even though i had just filled the tank completely. then the gauge just dropped all the way to empty and the empty light came on along with the service engine soon light and the dte (distance to empty) light started to flash. i have not yet had this problem repaired but will within the next week. *tr

Fuel sensor or sending unit is bad on a 07' frontier. fuel gauge drops to empty at 1/4 tank, and also does the same after fill up. takes a while to come back up to full reading. nissan wants me to pay 600.00 for a repair when this is apparently a issue on all of their vehicles. they need to issuer a recall. *tr

I filled up my tank and after setting for a minute idling i noticed my gas gauge was below empty and the distance to empty light was on and reading -----. my original thought was that i didn't tighten my gas cap enough, but i always do. a minute later the service engine soon light comes on. i have a 2007 frontier crew cab nismo with 67,000 miles. while driving home the gas gauge slowly worked its way up to just below full and the ses light is still on. i have not driven very much more to see if the gas gauge works properly. i have been checking through my extended warranty, which extends out to 72 months or 100,000 and it does show that the gas sending unit is covered. after visiting the following forum: http://x.nissanhelp.com/forums/xterra/4151-fuel-gauge-problem-service-engine-soon-light.html, i noticed many other people with 2005-2007 nissan frontier, xterra and pathfinders are having this same issue and the dealers are charging 400-700 dollars to fix. many of these people are out of their warranty period and have to pay out of pocket. my warranty requires me to pay a 100 dollar deductible. sounds like this fuel sending unit deserves a recall. *tr

Service engine soon light came on at ~55000 miles. when i filled up my gas tank the level did not register correctly and the ses light came on. will go off between 3/4 and 1/4 tank, but comes back on each fill up. found out that this is a common problem on the nissan frontier. mine is a 2007 model. *tr

2007 frontier nissan cheap gas tank... what good does a lock gas cap do? the gas tank is made out of cheap plastic which is very easy for a low life person to puncture with only the point of a pocket knife!!! (the repair person, himself showed me with his own pocket knife how it took no strain to steal my gas.) ( i found out the hard way!!! a low life person had no difficulty at all stealing my gas with just the point of a pocket knife. and with the high prices of gas a lot more of us will also find out the hard way!!! ) to replace my gas tank it cost me about $1,000.00.!!! but even worse!!! my new $1,000.00 gas tank is just like the old gas tank that was punctured with only the point of a pocket knife,by a low life person who already knows where my nissan is parked!!!and how easy it was to steal my gas before!!! hey!!! i can't afford a $1,000.00 every time some low life person steals my gas!!! can you??? i don't think nissan can even afford that!!! either!!! *tr
FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE - DELIVERY

When parking '07 nissan frontier into a parking stall, i pressed on the brake pedal to come to a full stop. the engine then started to race and move the truck forward. i already had the brake pedal down to the floor with no response, the truck climb the parking curb and hit a sitgn and then a parked car. couldn't believe that nothing could stop the truck till it hit the car and then the engine stopped racing. i had the insurance adjuster take alook at the truck and made him press the brakes where it went down to the floor. he then had a towing company tow the truck down to the dealership to prevent another accident. dealer had the truck for a week but could not find anything wrong with the truck. they noted that the brake pedal was soft but it should be okay. they could not get the motor to race so they could not do anything. they did all the test that they could but informed me that they can't fix something they cannot find.

Tl*the contact owns a 2007 nissan frontier. the contact thought he drove over an object at 60 mph. he immediately smelled gas and pulled over the vehicle. he noticed gas spilling from the middle driver side of the vehicle. the contact jumped back into the vehicle and drove off because he was at a gas station. once far enough from the station, he turned off the engine, waited for the gas to stop leaking, restarted the vehicle, and drove home. the dealer did not make any repairs, but stated that the gas tank needed to be replaced. the failure was caused by an object that struck the aluminum cover and cracked the plastic gas tank. the current and failure mileages were 2,000. updated 02/19/08. *lj the consumer stated the gas tank was made of poor quality plastic material, with a very thin aluminum plate covering. the object that hit the gas tank was small because it marked a four-inch dent on the front side of the gas tank and the small piece of square that was in front of it. updated

FUEL SYSTEM, OTHER

My ses (service engine soon) light has been on for weeks now, the fuel gauge has been completely erratic. i am really worried that i will run out of gas in the middle of nowhere, or run out of fuel and not know and get hit on the freeway! nissan has a service bulletin out about this very issue but still refuses to do a recall on what they admit is a bad sensor. i have had this diagnosed for free at aamco,(p0463 is the code) nissan refuses to accept this and wants me to pay them 100.00+ to let them diagnose what i already know!

Fillled up gas tank and gauge registered empty and low fuel light came on when car was started. fuel gauge has not worked properly since and the check engine light remains on. (fuel sender not workin properly)

When my 2007 frontier reached a little over 50k miles, noticed service engine soon light coming on. stayed on, turned truck on and off, noticed last time that the guages all shook a little before engine started, now when to start again to take another child to school and engine won't start at all, makes click click sound and all guages shake, see many similar complaints, looks like this needs a recall!!!!!!!!!!!

The fuel level sensor has failed in my 2007 nissan frontier. i have done a little research and found several others complaining about the same issue. i called my local nissan dealer and they said it was not covered under any warranty or recall. i was told that the replacement of this sensor will cost almost $500.00. please help investigate this issue.

Fuel gauge on the truck became inaccurate causing engine to unexpectedly stop running from lack of fuel. this created a dangerous condition in not being able to control the truck in high speed traffic. nissan dealer said the fuel sensor in the tank had failed and was not covered under manufacturer's warrany due to exceeding milage and time warranty.

2007 nissan frontier with 55,000 miles developed service engine soon light when filled up with gasoline. code shown when read was fuel sending unit high output. after research with several nissan dealers, an approximate repair cost of $600 was given, including a $100 diagnostic fee for reading the codes. i have been running vehicle without a properly operating fuel gauge for approximately 5,000 miles since, due to high cost of repair not available at this time. this is a risk since the fuel gauge drops to empty once tank is below half full. this can result in loss of power components upon vehicle ceasing to operate once out of fuel. this is a recurring defect in similar and past model years that the manufacturer is choosing to ignore once out of warranty. *tr
