When i went to have my vtc springs replaced the man that worked at the dealership i had the work done at, he said it was a very common problem which maid me mad because of the fact of i paid $1000.00 to have a part fixed which i think they should have paid for if it was a common thing. i am aservice manager in a shop and have several maximas come in with that problem. i would really like to know what has to be done to have that part recalled andhave my money returned. if problem is not fixed, it will break timing chain and bend valves. my other complaint is about the window regulator. i will tell you i know of tons of people that has had that break on them. it is a plastic piece like a pully for the window that breaks and the window will drop at any time. one of my assoc. window has broke when it fell. that part cost $110 to replace, the bad thing about it another plastic piece. that is one part that must really be recalled with how many times it happens. *ak

I am the second owner of a 1992 nissan maxima purchased in november of 1996. three months after the purchase i took the car to my local nissan dealership (somersworth nissan, somersworth, nh) because my wipers were not working correctly. the car still had 3 months left on the 5 year 60 thousand mile warranty. the service mgr. told me my vtc sprockets were defective and in need of replacement. she contacted nissan who in-turn said they would cover the cost of the repair. i was told by the service department that the repair is normaly about $1500.00 dollars. less than 2 years later the part nissan replaced is defective again. nissan refuses to cover the cost. i am slowly finding out that vtc sprockets are a continual problem for several 1992 maxima owners. why should i continue to pay $1500.00 every two years when it is obvious that this is a poor engine design problem that nissan should not pass on to their customers. as far as i know i can expect to pay $1500.00 every 2 years. another nissan dealership said the vtc sprockets are defective and will continualy go bad. consumers should not have to pay. nissan needs to take responsibility for the products it makes and sells!
