I want to know why nissan has not recalled the 1995 maxima due the springs defect, gear shift malfunction, starter problem and the list goes on. i have 2 1995 maxima's and they both have the same problems. having done quite a bit of research looking for customer complaints, it looks as though everyone else with a 95 maxima has the same defects. the spring problem with the suspension definitely should have been recalled as was the spring problem with the sentra. i have documented every complain that i could find and if my daughter or myself has an accident in these nissan's, someone in my family will be rich! i do not have $1600 to replace them. i have already spent $1000,s of dollar replacing starter, brakes, rotors, knock sensors, batteries amongst other things and i've only had the cars since march of this year. neither cd player works, inside dome light does not work.*jb

1995 nissan maxima experiencing oil leak. *mr there was a pre-existing oil leak. the engine light had come on immediately after the vehicle was picked up. the dealer promised the consumer a new battery but they cleaned off the battery acid and said that is was new. after about three weeks a new battery was placed in after several no starts. the dealer stated the alternator was bad. *scc *jb

The oxygen sensor has failed several times, the earliest time the vehicle having only 28299 miles. vehicle has experienced and exhaust leak. the transmission will not shift out of park. the vehicle would not start due to a blank spot on the starter. the vehicle experienced several electrical problems, the dome light would not work due to a power wire rivet that was loose and loosing contact. the dome light, the door lights, and the map light malfunctioned when the consumer tried to replace the bulb for the map light. the factory installed alarm would go off unless the keyless entry was used, the dash indicator lights for the trunk open and door ajar for the passenger side also would not work. the hydraulic hood supports failed, in order to check the engine or make any repairs the hood has to be propped open. recently the consumer heard a clicking noise in the front end, the dealer stated that the cv boot was torn and that the clicking noise meant the axle was damaged, however, later the dealer stated the problem was only the strut mount but didn't know which one was causing the problem, so both of them needed to be replaced. *slc

The negative caple has a sticker with a p on it and the positive cable has a fuse box which has a - on it. i took that as p for positive and - for negative. that was inaccurate. i hooked up the positive to the negative and negative to the positive. this has blown out the alternator.

It started with 2 to 3 tries to start the car. we were keeping up with the routine maintenance but the problem progressed to taking as much as 4 to 5 tries to start the engine, it would crank but not kick. we took it to the dealer 4 times. they said the starter worn out due to repetitive attempts to start the vehicle. just recently, we had a new started put in for approximately $400.000 for using a car for 3 years. now the car still gives problems in starting though much less, for example 1 out 10. it also hesitates while driving steady high speed (55-65 mph) on the highway.
ELECTRICAL SYSTEM - WIRING - FRONT UNDERHOOD

1995 maxima has a major electrical problem, the car had a fire erupting inside the steering wheel column caused by a short circuit in the steering wheel column. the manufacturer said its nothing unusual. in other words, its very normal for an 8 year old car to catch fire while driving on the freeway. yes, believe it or nor. nissan north america did not stand behind their products. dont be fooled by the nice looks of that car. i had to change the o2, knock sensor every two years.*ak
