| Tl-the contact owns 2004 nissan maxima. the contact stated the floor boards on the front half of the vehicle was rusted and corroded. the vehicle was taken to a mechanic shop for routine inspection and they noticed the rust and corroded on the floor boards. the manufacturer was contacted and informed him to take the vehicle to the dealer for the repairs. the vehicle was then taken to the dealer who stated it was out of warranty and if he needed the manufacturer to pay for the repairs he has to re-contact them. the manufacturer was re-contacted and informed him to get an estimate on the repairs. the contact got the estimate and then they rejected him and offered no other assistance. the vehicle was not repaired and a claim was file with the manufacturer. the failure mileage was 112,000....mw | |||

| I have a 2004 nissan maxima with 96,000 miles and the undercarriage floor board is rotting away. i take excellent care of all of my cars and the car looks brand new, never been in an accident and serviced through the local nissan dealer for all work on it. i have had six nissan maximas (1987, 1990, 1996, 2000, 2004, 2009) and i've never had an issue like this. i live in the northeast but i always have. i think something was up with the quality and materials for the 2004 model. *tr | |||

| The car started up and was running fine. my wife went back into the house to get our daughter and found the car had stalled. the car has not started since. i am concerned about this situation, because of the fact that the car justed stalled for no apparent reason. i hate to think what could have happened if my wife was driving the car. in addition, according to several post on edmunds.com this is happening to other consumers. i have had other problems with this car since i purchased it 3-12-03. it has been back to the dealership several times for the following reasons: service engine lights coming on, leaking sunroof, cd not working, a fog/condensation behind center console screen, and interior molding coming loose. i have called nissan usa and spoke to matt at 310-771-8454 ext 8454. if you can help with this please contact me at 410-239-0119. thank you for your time and efforts. *jb | |||

| Noticed a piece of metal hanging down from under the car on the passenger side front door. when i bent down, noticed that it was a piece of sheet metal from the floorboard. when i was able to get the car onto a lift, i noticed that the entire floorboard on the passenger side was completely rotted. i have noticed that on this website and many other pages on the internet, people have complained about this same problem, but nissan hasn't made any attempts to do nothing about it. this poses many safety concerns beside the obvious foot going thru the floor or water coming up thru the floor, but also poses a safety concern of fumes making their way into the passenger compartment. we have owned this car since it was brand new and have always been very happy with nissan and its reliability, but this isn't helping nissan's cause. | |||

| While in for routine maintenance, mechanic noticed extensive corrosion on both the passenger and driver side of the metal underneath both front seats. first layer was rotted through on both side and on the pasenger side there is also a small hole rotted through the second layer. vehicle was not taken to a nissan dealer as of yet. | |||

| The passenger floor board has rusted through creating a hole about 7 by 14 under the carpet. nissan was contacted through our local dealer in may and nissan responded that they would not repair the issue without cost to us. in investigating it is interesting to note that the panel that is rusted out appears to be painted in a green gloss primer when the remainder of the floor is the body color of white. in searching the internet it appears that there are many other maxima owners with the same issue. the car is garage kept in ohio, and rarely has a passenger on that side. car is in my wife's name. | |||

| Front and rear suspension, steering, brakes,body work, drivers door. had issues right after wife bought the car she went without me but upon looking at car after she came home with it did the car fax on it on thing were some eletricail checks thats it no accidents. steering tight when i drove it and noticed noise from suspension when goin over railroad tracks and driver door saging. brought to dealer next day and the said a bar was rubbing on another they fix they said nothing wrong with suspension in hearing things is there exact words and replaced the door hinges which are purple and the car is red door saggin again but i was involed in accident end of 2008 got sideswiped by 2500 doge ram truck at 45 mph on driverside having problems with that because body shop on reapair damage not replaced i brought my car to another body shop because of issues im having and they said work was done incorrectly. and transmission has always when i drive more than 20 miles continuesly when i come to stop and start again the tranny always always slips bad between 2nd and 3rd gear and into 4th sometimes | |||

| My 2004 nissan maxima was parked in my driveway. i turned the key and shut the driver door. when i shut the door the sunroof glass shattered all over me and the car. there was glass everywhere. the glass that was left on the sunroof was pointing upward. i got cut on my hands and my head was filled with glass. there was no warning or sound or notice whatsoever. this is something that needs to be investigated as it can be a serious hazard to people that are driving and this incident occurs. *ak | |||

| While driving a 2004 maxima ( a rental from enterprise) on interstate 91 in ct. on 3/7/2004, out of no where the glass roof exploded outward. glass covered me and the backseat of the car. nothing hit the car, i went under no overpasses, there were no other vehicles around me at the time. i nearly lost control of the car and suffered minor scratches to forehead and arm from the shattered glass. i strongly feel that this was some sort of defect and want this documented as to prevent further injury to other driver's of this make vehicle.*ak | |||

| Was exiting the highway stopped at a red light. i heard a loud popping noise. i opened the visor of the skyview and the entire glass was shattered. i got out the car and asked the guy behind me in a van if he saw something hit my car, he said hed didn't see anything hit my car. the skyview was popped up like someone had punched it out from the inside. the entire glass was shattered. the weather that day was rainy and about 60 - 65 degrees. i had the defroster on 80 degrees for the front windows and also had the back defroster on. i have done research on the web and so far have found two other people with the exact same complaint. *ak | |||

| I have a 2004 nissan maxima with 50,008 miles on it and recently had the abs coming on while i was driving and no dash waring lights on, brought it to the dealer to find out that the right rear abs speed sensor went bad but why didn't any waring lights come on they pulled the abs fuse and now the warning lights are on but you absolutly can not stop the vehicle when this happen this imagine hitting the brakes at 55 mph with your two year old in car and its not stoppin becuse when you abs sensor goes bad it turns on the abs which does not allow your normal brakes to operate and do not throw any of your dash lights on, if i had the money for a lawyer i would be going after nissan right now it should work so if you have a problem with your abs it should turn at least your warning lights and then disconnect the abs so you can use your normal brakes to actully stop the car..... also none of the front end and rear end body lines match up to none of the gaps between hood and fenders are the same can get finger in one side and not the other smae with the trunk, and the car has only been in one accident that i know of that i reported had gottin side swiped at 45 mph on drivers side by big truck also notice that front and rear windsheilds do not have nissan stamp on windows the car fas was clean well the on the dealership i bought car from was clean i think this car was wrecked front and rear and fixed and wasn't reported then sold to me with 26,800 miles when i bought it no sits at 50,000 cuse have nothing but problems with i would like a state inspector to look at car my opinion is car is unsafe but only one i have and still owe more than 10,000 dollars on it please help. | |||

| I have a 2004 nissan maxima. after having brake work done several times, the real problem was diagnosed. there is a problem with the struts. both front struts need to be replaced. car has 72,000 miles and has been very well taken care of. this is not normal wear and tear and it is a serious problem. the steering wheel shakes, there is a squeaking sound, and car sometimes seems to pull to one side or the other. nissan has said that they will assume no responsibility. as a consumer, i respectfully ask that you look into this matter. | |||

| I have a 2004 maxima sl with 90,000(mi) as i was driving on a rainy day i noticed the passenger front mat was getting wet when i got home i removed the mat and carpet and to my surprised i found a sizable rust hole in the floor passenger side . i took the car to the dealer and informed the manager of my discovery she told me that she was going to contact nissan and find out what to do. in the mean time i stopped by a few autobody shops to get quotes on fixing it i tried 5 shops and most of them refuse to touch it because is a structural part of the vehicle, they also told me they thought i should go see the dealer as the car shouldn't rust like that being so new. a few days later i went back to the dealer and asked the manager if she ha heard from nissan she said no, she mentioned that she has seen couple more cars come in for inspections and they noticed that the bottoms on the passenger sides were rusted consequently failing inspection. nissan should make a recall or force to make a recall on this issue my car is worthless because of the structural damage it has. nissan should be responsible for these repairs for using weak or cheaper materials. *tr | |||

| When driving vehicle shook uncontrollably at any speed. *ak there was a severe vibration in the steering wheel, seats, a defect in the rubber molding of the windshield, the brakes squealed, the brake rotors were out of round and a grinding sound when the steering wheel was turned. the tires were rotated a few times, the brakes were lubed and sanded, power steering rack was adjusted, brake rotors were replaced and a brand new set of tires were added. *sc | |||
