I purchased my nissan maxima brand new in january 2006. i started feeling my car having problems getting in gear in 2011. now its getting worst. my check engine light is on, and i was told my the dealership that it is the transmission. i have seen now that nissan had transmission issues with the 2006 maximas and i believe that they should be recalled. i am in the navy and i need my car, for me and my family and i can't afford to purchase a new transmission, let alone a new car. *tr

Issues with the transmission surging and then a hard jerk or gear shift.took it to the shop, and before checking, the shop owner was familiar with the issue because mine was the 4th '06 maxima that had been brought in that week with the same problems. i have a black car thats 6 years old and the paint has faded almost to white on the roof of my car. *tr

I drove to work which is about 10 miles from my residence, parked to retrieve some paprework then returned to my vehicle. i started my vehicle and placed the transmission in drive, with my foot on the brakes as required while changing gears.there was a big time delay before the transmission engaged into the drive position.there also was a loud and very hard bang causing me to be forced rearward in the seat and the vehicle jumped forward, as if there was not a foot on the brakes. at this point the vehicle is engaged in the drive position. i spoke to a representative at the dealership where i bought the vehicle new in april of 2006,all they had to say is i must pay $109 for a diagnosis of the problem and hopefully they could duplicate it. i also spoke to nissan america consumer hotline and they also said that i must have it dealt with through the dealer, and they will see what they could do .at the time of this entry, the vehicle has 55000 mile exact. i have been on numerous site online and saw compliants about the same problem, with the transmission as a known fault. transmissions from nissan between the years of 2004 to 2007.all the complainants states they have not gotten any solution from nissan america. *tr

I am having a problem with my car jerking profusely when switching gears. it will do this as well when i come to a stop and then take off. there is something definately wrong with this make/model/year vehicle. i love my car but after seeing throughout the internet alot of people having the exact same problem, i do not believe my next purchase will be a nissan. the manufacturer should be recalling and fixing this issue. maybe families that have lost loved ones while driving this vehicle should investigate the cause of accident a little further.

I was going through a stop sign, and after i stopped, i pressed the gas only to see the rpms shoot up without the vehicle moving for five seconds, then the car finally kicked into gear. this is very unsafe and this is not the first incident.

My car was bought at a nissan dealership in 2011 of december, in january i noticed the car jerking and shifting while driving 20 to 30 miles.so i took the car back at the dealership and they said that they will only give me another car only if the problem is in the transmission, they told me that the problem is my motor mount is broken, and they don't cover anything outside the transmission or engine only the inside.. the total amount to fix was 500 but i had no money to do it.they gave me an option of taking an extended warranty which it was expensive for me so i shopped for a warranty and i got a full bumper to bumper for a cheaper price than what they gave me.it took me 3months to go back to the dealer with a new warranty they fixed the motor mount but the issue is still their.a nissan technician took it for a test drive they suggested that i need a new transmission and there's no way i'm willing to give them my car again to fix because it took them along time to realize the problem telling me to fix your car we need to get it out of idle and emission needs to be checked that's what they were saying before they realize its a transmission..i love nissan maxima but in order to keep a customer like me to stay loyal please fix the issue and do the right thing by recalling the vehicles.

I was driving 45mph and came to a red light which i stopped and when the light turned green i placed my foot on the gas and my nissan would not get past 3rd gear and jerked really bad before it would accelerate. this happens now all the time and i even had transmission fluid replaced in my car which has not reprevented the issue that i am still having faulty transmission.

Purchased this car in 2006 brand new! 90k miles the abs went.........at 120k miles the ac went and you have to keep putting freon all summer long! now at 130k miles the car jerks sporadically when driving it switches gears and takes about 5-8 seconds to switch gears. truly a dissatisfied customer. i paid for a transmission flush, which had i known at the time would not have done it because the problem remains!

Tl- the contact owns a 2006 nissan altima. the contact stated that the vehicle would consume large quantities of oil abnormally, which the contact was concerned could possibly result in improper performance of the piston rings. the dealer diagnosed that the catalytic converter was storing the oil which could possibly cause a fire or engine damage. the manufacturer was notified of the failure, but advised that the vehicle was not included in nhtsa campaign id number: 06v223000 (engine and engine cooling). the vehicle was not repaired. the failure mileage was 113,300 and the current mileage was 113,680. kmj

The transmission is failing and nissan customer services is rude! you can't get nissan to admit there are faulty transmissions on some of there nissan cars/trucks/suv's. i will never purchase a nissan again. it's the sensors i was told that are causing the problems. so, then you have to purchase a entire transmission because it cannot be bought alone. thank you, too mad!

The transmission slips, jumps out of gear between gears. often it will go to shift then it revs up not in gear instead of shifting then after a few seconds it slams hard into gear. this is not a daily constant issue it is random and sometimes will go weeks between having the issue pop up. when it pops up it will happen during that entire drive. the next time it is driven even that same day even just 15 minutes later it will not have shifting issues sometimes it does. there are many many many customers complaining about this issue with nissan transmissions.

My 2006 maxima's transmission gave out at 74,000 miles of normal use. there are 1,000's of others with this same problem and most have had to pay around $3,000 out of pocket to have the transmission replaced. there are some that were fortunate to have all or most of the costs paid by nissan, even when the warranty was expired. nissan refuses to assist with my repair stating that i didn't take it to the dealership for it's regular maintenance. bbb auto line states that the vehicle is too old for them to assist in my repair cost recovery. this is a huge issue with this generation of maxima and there should be a forced recall, no matter the cost to the manufacturer. we paid a lot of money for their flagship model and we should not have to pay even more for their faulty transmissions. also, broken engine mounts seem to be high on the list of problems with this vehicle, which my maxima also has. very frustrating. need to find help in filing a class action suit against nissan.

While driving approximately 65 mph, the gages on my instrument panel began to read erratic. speedometer, fuel and tachometer drifted between zero and thier maximums. the instrument panel background lighting also began to flicker. the vehicle made it home. at home the dash was tapped a few times to see if it was a loose connection. upon doing this, some of the gages began to read normal, while others began to read erratic. the vehicle would start and all the major systems appeared to operate normal; other than the gages and background lighting, which were still unreliable. the next day, 5/26/11, while the vehicle was being driven into a parking lot the gages and lighting started acting erratic, except this time smoke appeared from the bottom of the sta.tus display screen (the screen in the center of the dash board used to give information on time, maint, temperature). the engine was shut down immediately. the problem was found and fixed by a dealer. the problem was caused by a coin that had fallen into a gap that was formed by design or misalinement of the display screen and the shelf at the base of the screen. the screen is recessed 3.125 inches and declined at an angle of approx 18 deg. this allows any small objects to migrate to the display screen gap. the gap measures .114 inches across the base of the display. the coin (a dime) continued downward until it came in contact with an enclosed printed circuit (pc). the plastic enclosure has a small slot(.3125 x .78125) on top which allowed the coin to drop in and short out the pc. the replacement part doesn't have the slot. two small holes burnt through the plastic enclosure. p/n of pc is 277607y00a/upr/5804. will furnish photos upon request.

I have a 2006 nissan maxima, bought brand new fully loaded car in early 2006. after 80,000 miles on it, the car started jerking on me. had transmission fluid changed but it didnt help. recently came to know that transmission needs to be replaced, a $5000 expense. the car starts jerking when it is hot or have been driven in city for atleast 15-20 mins. the shifting of gears is difficult. it has stopped on me many times while driving, a high risk when i am on highways. when merging on highway, the increase in speed takes longer than usual, so makes it very difficult to merge. pls recall this, because it is not safe to drive and lot of people are experiencing this.

2006 nissan maxima transmition keeps sliping and jerking in-between gears. there is a growling noise coming from the engine. there is a squeeking coming from the front driverside shock. took to nissan dealership to have it inspected and ended up having to have the transmission rebuilt and they couldnt reconstruct the noises from the shock and they couldnt identify the what was causing the noise from the engine.

On thursday, may 20th our 2006 nissan maxima quit running. the oil light came on as i was driving at approximately 75mph on a freeway overpass. within 60 seconds of the light coming on the engine starting making a horrible noise. i was able to clear the freeway before it quit running. in the car were me (the driver), my husband (front passenger seat) and our 8 month old niece (strapped in a rear facing carseat). car was eventually towed to a nissan dealer where they state they believe the oil pump is defective. car has approximately 70,000 miles and is out of warranty. no previous engine issues or repairs have been noticed. at this point, nissan is not taking responsibility for the engine failure.

Car has a consistent sulfur/rotten eggs smell for as long as i have owned the vehicle. problem occurs at least 8 out of 10 times driving the vehicle. smell is disgusting and i am wondering if this is causing me and my passengers health problems. dealer and nissan consumer affairs refuse to recognize nor fix the problem after 2 prolonged visits and weeks of phone calls after filing complaint with nissan. *tr
